Camping in a Weather Warning for Rain | Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond
Raining. Constantly. Again. The joys of living in the west of Scotland. Out with 5 others so lots of camping product reviews to do. I had some crippling anxiety so wanted to camp somewhere close to the car and to be honest, when quiet, it's a smashing little spot just north of Balmaha in Rowardennan.

Cracking video, I really enjoyed the attention to all the gear! I've got the opalus 2 for a couple of years now, and i have to say I'm a bit surprised to see yours sag so much? I do however recognise that I have to be careful whilst putting the poles through the sleeves to not rip the material, in contrast to my Helm 2.

I'm not sure tbh, just like you I always leave the inner attached. But I noticed you haven't used the guy lines, maybe that could make some difference?

Cracking vlog Monty. I enjoy your reviews 👍🏻 I have a Hilleberg Allak. Had it in some cheeky conditions. It’s a lot to carry in comparison with some other 4 season tents but a fantastic place to be once it’s up. Looks like you’ve had a good camp. Nice one mate.

Stella Maria Pitt! I like the tent and I do intend on being out in it more, just need to fix the sleeve. If you're getting the heater please be safe with it and get a carbon monoxide detector. Anxiety is bad at the moment but hopefully I can get more solos. 2 tent reviews this weekend so sadly no rain footage in meantime.

Great video as usual Monty. Your pal Jimmy's tent reminds me of a tent my mate lent me to go bikepacking near Aberfoyle. From memory it was a Vango nx100, looks like the one man version of Jimmy's but it was green. Absolute nightmare of a tent. 😂 I'm 6ft and it was so tight I couldn't sit up in it or turn round in either so getting dressed or undressed had to be done outside the tent. I nicknamed it "the sausage skin" Keep up the good work Monty and merry Christmas to you!

It's an upgrade on my last 2 man Coleman Cobra in size terms but maybe slightly less in quality, still fine though for a cheap tent it does the business for low level camps. Monty's and Davids tents were miles better to be honest!!

That tents vestibule is on par with my cats litter tray nearly non existent 🐱😁 Hilleberg make some amazing equipment built to last. Exped are the most reliable so far for winter mats but this year will be a good test for Light Tour. I've still to take it down to below freezing though I think. Andes bags are rubbish. They are useful for car camps or hikes under 30 mins. Very uncomfortable and cheap, however the bag is still going strong and undamaged. Would only recommend for the easier camps and not treks or munro bagging. How are you finding it?

@@MontyOutdoors I always try natural things before medication,I think it only masks and contributes to more things. There were remedies for everything before the big pharmaceuticals came along. Try some,qi qong, meditation or yoga.. What is it your brains saying no to about a solo summit camp? I was out solo in the hot tent last week, was great. Need some more snow tho. I just bought an oex bobcat to do some summit solos, more Corbetts.

@brianmercer2805 I'm a big fan of scientific literature, but medication should generally be a last resort. Exercise is the body's natural drug, eating healthy is the way forward and studies now show ultra processed foods are killing us and mess with our brains the way drugs do, and most people's mental health issues would greatly improve if life was more cost effective. Yoga and meditation/breathing techniques are excellent suggestions. My issue isn't so much pharmaceutical companies but the economic model it exists inside which is outside it's control. Have you read Ben Goldacre's stuff? Very scientific but he gets tore into pharma. I get scared incase I experience panic attacks/suicidal thoughts, so recently I've restricted myself to being at home or around people. Mate i want a hot tent. Fire, big meal and a wee drink lol
