God said he will spit out the lookwarm people out of his mouth. It is God's will that no man should die. And because of this love, he sent himself to pay the price, so he could make a route back home for the lost. And so all men are called to that route redemption paid for by Jesus, but few are those that will find the road. Because narrow is the road, but many people like to wonder off the narrow road that the prodigal son toke to his father: Having first decided that his actions were beneath that of a son, he set out on the narrow path to his forgiving and waiting father, who has indeed kept him, till he finally came to his senses.

@@docb9537 Notice how the protocol son was welcomed home with loving arms, meaning he never lost his sonship. However, his inheritance was still squandered and never recovered. Meaning, not all are equal in heaven, some earn crowns, many do not. Some store up treasures in heaven, many do not. Some inherit the kingdom, some get in by the skin of their gnashing teeth. Some are sovereign, some are subjects. We want to be " _Partakers_ " (hebrews et al). I think the church fails congregates by not pointing out that, yes... the Just shall live by Faith (hab 2:4) - saved by Grace - Faith Alone (eph 2:8-9), but works still matter (James 2:22). We won't lose our Salvation, that was paid in full on our behalf (romans 8), but we can lose our inheritance.

@mikes5079 Christ gives us the passport to the enternal life, paid for with his own blood. But we have to follow him unto the plane to the promise land of enternal life . In the same manner, whilst the Isrealites were in Egypt as slaves, God became the savour that took them out of slavery. Like salvation, God did this work, not man. In the wilderness, God sustained them because of his love for them. God then gave them a contract, the laws, and the Ten commandments. They broke the commands and worshipped demons. Because of this, some of them died and went to hell. God even kicked the 10 tribes of Israel out of the promised land. Yet, God said Israel is my inheritance. So who is calling his inheritance, those that follow his commands or those that follow Idols?

The other side of that coin is that once a church falls away, when it gains new members there is no guarantee that the new members ever believed in Jesus. If a church teaches enough false doctrines (one indication of apostasy), how are new members, or current members actually going to be believers? THere already are many cults out there. Are their members true believers? Or do they believe in a counterfeit version of Christianity instead?

But this is one of the very few instances where I don't fully agree with you. This has been a debate for centuries by much more scholarly theologians than me but I fall on the side that we can lose our salvation if we *choose* to. We *chose* to make Jesus Lord and Savior of our lives. We decided to follow Jesus. I believe that we can make that same decision to not follow, to not make Jesus our Lord and Savior. Not by just sinning or having a really bad day, but rather a deliberate decision to *unfollow* Him.

HEBREWS 6: 4-6 clearly says if you claim salvation and continue in sin there is no provision of salvation. It says you cannot crucify Christ twice, making the Cross of no effect. Does God Love us? Yes. He weeps over the rejection of the journey the Cross calls us to. So, as wonderful a teacher as you are this is an incomplete communication of truth. People will stay in their messes if there is no Fear of the Lord. Respect to you pastor.

@@jamiespinks3657 "He who endures to the end [during the Tribulation, which Jesus was talking about] it is he who shall be saved." Saved from what? The wrath of God, or any of the other horrible things that are described in Revelation? Did Jesus say one thing in John 10 and another thing entirely in Matthew 10 and 24? Paul said that Christians can lose their reward, and suffer loss (their works shall be burnt) but they still will be saved. John said in 1st John 5:1 that those who believe that Jesus is the Messiah are saved ("born of God"). We are not to take our salvation lightly. But we can not lose it. @danielklencovljevic - you are quoting hebrews but you are out of context. Paul is writing to the HEBREWS aka Jews who had accepted Jesus as their savior, but then were going back to their old sacrificial system (animal sacrifice) after Jesus had come. He is saying to them, that if you return to animal sacrifice, instead of accepting Christs one time sacrifice for your sins, you are trampling the blood of Jesus and their remains no more atonement for your sin because you have rejected Jesus as your savior and believe animal sacrifice can save you. It’s not talking about Christians who still sin (whether it be willful or on “accident”). Hope that helps. I struggled with that scripture for years until the Holy Spirit revealed the truth to me.

One day I feel good and everything is gonna be okay, the next I’m in extreme anxiety about my next mistake and whether God will continue to forgive me, or if I’m just deceiving myself into believing things are going to be okay. I'm glad that God brought me back despite my short sited ignorance of Him at the time. I had this 2D understanding of God, that He didn't exist outside of arbitrary man made religion at the time(all atheists have this assumption) But as time went on, I began to see more and more of objective reality just so happened to have matched up with the claims the Bible spoke of. The fallen nature of man, the world being ruled by evil, the fact that what is called sinful has actual real world negative consequences, the fact that everytime we as humans try to become gods on our own terms, we 100% create hell on Earth. I saw God by understanding the evil that is done when we attempt to omit Him. I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for saving this wretched 1rst world millennial from himself.

I believe Faith without works is not good enough to make it to the kingdom of God but some people say you will make it to heaven but you'll be in the "suburbs" of heaven not with god. I think you should be preaching for everyone to repent and deny yourself and pick your cross and follow Jesus. The Angel's and heaven rejoice when each person comes back to Jesus because they know if you stray you will not make it to heaven. The Love is thay a father always forgives but we have to ask for that forgiveness and try our best to not sin no more.

You don't get to heaven by works alone, and not by showing off your works but but living a life putting God first, I think you are giving people an excuse to be Luke warm Christians and saying hey all you have to do is believe in Jesus and your good you can keep living the same way you were. But I say if you truly believe in Jesus you are going to want to do your best to stop sinning. Or else do you truly believe and is that really putting God first. Anyways I don't know for sure neither do you but I definitely don't want to risk leading people down the wrong path by saying you can go off and keep living a life of sin and don't worry your going to heaven because you said you believe in Jesus. Just seems risky to me and not really motivating people to stop living in sin. I do like Pastor Mark Driscoll so don't think I am bashing him but I am surprised he thinks that way when he is usually pretty tough on men doing what they should be doing. However I do understand a fathers Love but if your kids grow up and turn really bad are you going to give them the keys to your home if they steal,Lie,damage your property and are violent towards you. Even though you would forgive them and except them back if they were to change their ways and say sorry. That is how I believe God is.

Too many Christians think they have to earn their salvation, or can earn their salvation, making null what Christ accomplished on the cross. In a sense, they are putting their works in front of God's work on the Cross. And too many Christians think they can lose their salvation, making Christ's sacrifice for them, and God's love for them, also null and void. This is why what Mr. Driscoll teaches here is important. You can not save yourself. Good works can not save you. What Christ accomplished on the Cross saves you. Believing in him is the only requirement. As for those who stray, Paul said that at the judgment of the righteous "if any man's work is burned up, he shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved, yet so as through fire." 1st Cor. 3:15 Salvation is a gift from God. It can not be earned. Even so, it is not a gift that should be taken lightly -- but it is a gift just the same.
@scindiana

The real problem is too many people think they can continue to live in sin and be saved. The works we are to do is to live as Christ and love God with all our hearts and love our neighbor not charity work or lighting candles. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil. If we claim to have fellowship with and live in the darkness we lie and do not live out the truth. I'm confused why so many Christian's have a hard time accepting that you have to confess your sins and yes you will be forgiven by the grace of Jesus Christ blood but what about people that say I Believe and are homosexual or are commiting adultery or is okay with having abortions and don't truly repent. Even devil worshipers believe in Jesus Christ are they going to heaven? I think anyone that gets upset about being able to lose salvation needs to think about how they are living. And it is very dangerous to teach people that they can continue to sin without trying not to sin what if your wrong? That is is a very risky thing to teach people. I think it is wise to teach people to ask for forgiveness of sin and try and sin no more, of course everyone sins and anyone that claims not to is a liar but we are supposed to love God enough we resist sin. Will you still go to heaven? I don't know but I do know that you will be judged and God will let you know for sure and it is best to try and live in the light and not the darkness.

I used to agree with this premise, but not anymore. The accurate question is, can a person reject salvation? Sadly, the answer is always, Yes. We've all seen it. Just as we can accept salvation at any time, so can we reject it. I'm convinced that "Once saved, always saved" has been appropriated by Satan to lead Christians away from Christ even after accepting salvation.

Pastor Mark: I agree but if I may, I would like to break it down for a KZfaq audience. Both "Can a christian lose his/her salvation?" and "Are you saved once and for always" Are asking the wrong question. The reason pastors deal with these questions is that people ask them. What do we have to do with our salvation? We didn't do it, we didn't create it and it wasn't our plan to save us from our Laws. That was all God's doing. We can accept or reject it, that is it. Holy Spirit has one job! To get us to that place and time where we are ready to meet Jesus and Accept what HE did for us. So, Who am I? I was a Laodicean of the Laodicean's church saved through the fire, and being purified as gold. I was a prodigal and a rebel, a runner, then in an instant everything changed as I held my son in my arms for the first time. It was knowing a father's love for his son, as a father, that shattered a heart of stone and Jesus was there, as always, waiting on me. 13 years of running and rebellion came to an end, but some sins are difficult to remove and they tear out hard and leave a hole that has to heal gradually. It's a process and this time I stayed in the process.

He will not take his salvation from you! The Bible is very clear about this, only the devil will say, hath God really said?" The Bible says God will destroy the flesh to save the soul. You can go so far that God will take your life but not your salvation. If you are a true christian your eternal salvation is secure 🔐. The Bible says he is able to keep that which he has committed unto himself.

That is referring to "simple" belief. People try to believe that their faith needs works to be "genuine" and will add their own good works onto what Jesus did for them, therefore essentially calling the sacrifice of Jesus insufficient. James 2:9-10 "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." If you ever lied as a kid, you are instantly guilty of a sin against an eternal and Holy God. The wages of sin is death. But God loved the world. He gave His only begotten son, who lived the perfect sinless life we could never do, and died. Bearing the weight of all past, present, and future sins. Once we believe in Him, God the Father keeps us. John 10:28-30 How you choose to live will determine your eternal reward. You are still saved even if you live a life of carnality as long as you have believed the gospel, which is that Christ died for your sins, and was raised from the dead to give you newness of life. He did it all to make it possible for you.

@@bowhunt9968 If someone is presented the truth of Jesus Christ, and reject it, they are in risk of going to hell. If a person believes in Christ, they are born of God, and saved. 1st John 5:1 That does not preclude chastisement and/or punishment (discipline) by God on the believer for their non-Christian actions (as mentioned several places in the NT -- 1st Corinthians 3:15, Hebrews 12:5-8, Rev. 3:19).

Are there people in your life, past or present, that you're harboring unforgiveness and vengeance towards? I ask because the Lord won't forgive us if we don't forgive others in our hearts and because vengeance belongs to the Lord, not us. We're not completely holy and sinless to be able to weild vengeance or to heal as the Lord promises when we're not forgiving others for their trespasses against us. Start praying for people you struggle with or can't stand at all, and keep doing that so the Lord will examine your heart and reveal its current state to you. Then work on what He reveals to you with Him in prayer and practice.

For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. You went wrong by comparing a literal new-born child with no accountability to someone past the age of accountability who the Lord will judge. This message begs the question, what did you do to become a Christian. Was it just saying the Sinner's prayer? Or is it full on Calvinism? I disagree with both of these. This also ties into "once saved, always saved", which I think is one of the greatest lies sending Christians to hell right now. There are so many complete lessons in the Bible which refute this - more than just single passages or words people use to derive this lie. This is one of the major themes of the book of Hebrews, especially chapters 3-4. We could also look at the parable of the ten virgins. All ten were virgins and pledged to be married. Only 5 took their relationship seriously and were taken. We could also look at the parable of the sower. Some seed sprouted up quickly, but died because they had shallow roots. Jesus spit out the lukewarm church in Laodicea. Even Paul talks about beating his body to conquer his flesh so as to not be disqualified for the prize (1 Cor 9:27) I could go on. Salvation is for those who put their relationship with God above all things. So what matters is a continual choice to live for God.

Saved by faith through grace lest no man boast. You are saved to eternity once you are born again as you are a new creation. God will work through no you working to get to God. A born again Christian can never have the salvation get taken away. If you are being lukewarm then you were never saved.

@@danielpickrell8311 The important part of the passage above is the inability to boast. We can't EARN salvation in the sense that God could owe it to us. We are definitely saved by our faith in Jesus alone, but true faith requires action to be alive. Per James, faith without works is dead.

Then what is the unforgivable sin if a Christian "can't lose their salvation?" Is it not that the Christian knows God, and after knowing God, willingly turns his/her back?
