By the way the word Lens for glasses is feminine in all latin languages (Romanian, italian, Spanish, French, Portugese), including old latin. It's wrong to contradict this since the Spain is the actual Spanish language maker. Like UK is for English. What's in USA is "americansese" not english. I prefer US english but I can't contradict words that are made by actual english acadamy, as you guys shouldn't say what words should be to a Spanish person. You can call it what you like, it's a free world but contesting it it's just silly. Also, "We don't want colonisers" at the end... Gurl, you are the coloniser (or the descendent of it) you just speak a different language than "proper spanish"

Maybe because a lot of them are moving their hands? You guys are like the OG sign language. Also Italian has the same roots so it's really similar and easy to understand even if you know nothing. Fun Fact: Argentinians are just italians in disguise, a lot of their culture is just italian culture watered down because of Spain and Native influence.

It’s because they are probably speaking to a broader audience, which would consists of people learning Spanish. If they spoke at their normal speed you would probably still understand some of it but not 95%

Hola a todos!! Soy española, de Galicia en el norte del país.Creo que la grandeza de nuestro idioma es precisamente la diversidad tan grande de acentos y vocabulario. Ninguna versión es mejor que la otra , todas son válidas y admitidas. Esta amplia variedad es lo que hace del español una lengua tan rica y única

Correcto, la idea está genial. Si les sugiero evitar evaluar o aprobar algún término porque puede verse como ofensivo para algún gentilicio, creo que es válido comentar si les suena raro o gracioso, es parte de la chispa que tienen pero siempre teniendo en cuenta que ninguna es incorrecta ni mejor que otra. Es justamente el interés de la sociolingüística, cada región o país aporta al idioma desde su propia historiografía y de las actividades sociales que se desarrollan en ese contexto de espacio tiempo específico. De allí la riqueza de nuestro hermoso idioma español.

I'm Japanese. It's interesting to have people from other countries who speak the same language. No one generally don't speak Japanese outside of Japan.

Out of Japan I’d say only Japanese speak the language because Japan didn’t get colonies. Spain got colonies all over the world, so even in the Philippines in their language (main one is Tagalog) they use a few Spanish words. Btw I’m learning Japanese, it’s a beautiful language.

i took japanese 1 and 2 in university. but i never practiced after that. and now i only have a very few words, and i know like 4 kanji.....i cant even have the most basic conversations in japanese. if you want a second langauge, spanish is phonetically very similar to japanese. and it allows you to enjoy el chavo del ocho, and you can travel all over america and spain and equatorial guinea.

En el interior normalmente le decimos vaqueros, solo los chetos les dicen jeans A los lentes de contactos también le decimos pupilex ( pero creo que porque era una marca de lentes de contacto de colores)

El inglés es el idioma mas hablado como segunda lengua (lengua internacional) pero el tercero en número de hablantes nativos. El cuarto idioma más hablado por nativos es el hindi. Luego el árabe, despues el bengalí, etc., etc. No debemos confundir idiomas más hablados como segunda lengua con idiomas nativos. Y los 4 idiomas mas estudiados son el Inglés, el francés, el alemán y el español.

I am from Argentina. When I was in the US, I made many friends from Mexico, Venezuela and Puerto Rico. Here’s the thing: We can pretty much understand each other very well however when Venezuelans speak among themselves very fast, I am completely lost. The same happens when Argentinians speak in group of other Argentinians. Also, when Latinos speak to Latinos of other nationalities they often slow down or try to use neutral words, so their speech changes according to whom they are talking to. Also, in this video, the actors are speaking slowly and articulately which is great for an audience that has beginner students of the Spanish language however this is of course not the way that they speak in their everyday’s life.

Però los salvadorenos hablan mas rapidito. I'm from Italy and living in south Texas, exposed me to Spanish from all the parts of south America. The easier to understand for me was the spanish from Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, the hardest I'd say Cuban and Chileno. But the thing I was more surprised of is that everyone switched to me to spanish when I said them I was italian and after like 6 months I could conversate decently well ahahahah

Awesome video. My Spanish is very elementary; took it in high school 40+ years ago, now using Duolingo to help me improve. What I find fascinating is that we can easily see the American, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and British English phenomenon demonstrated to us in a totally different language - Spanish! I am french, never learnt spanish but understood most of it as it is close to french. I had a good laugh too! @@dougsdojo Definition of "un mec" : it is a familiar name for a man, a masculin individual. You could say also "un gars" (a normal random guy, guys ) or "un type" (for exemple , c'est qui ce type? Who is that guy? Or quel sale type! What a bad guy! ) In a couple, it is a compagnon, amant, mari (companion, lover, husband). French women do say "mon mec" or "mon mec à moi" = "my guy" when they are in couple. (Like it is her property😅). Well, un mec is a general familiar definition of a masculin individual. But can you qualify a young guy as un mec when he is a kid or a teen? No. He is not a man yet. Until then, un jeune gars, un ado(lescent), un jeune (homme) is fine. A thing is literally "une chose". All abstract reality. Synonyme : affaire, événement, fait. (A story, an event, a fact). All concrete object Synonyme : objet. - Familier : bidule, engin, machin, truc. I'm familiar with mostly Mexican and Iberian Spanish. I have ancestry from both countries as well as from Italy, but I don't speak a lot of Italian. I spent a summer in Colombia, so I'm somewhat familiar with their Spanish too. I haven't been to Argentina yet, but it's a country I'd like to check out. Congrats on your FIFA win, but as Brazilians say: "Todo o mundo tenta, mas só o Brasil pode ser penta," penta-campeão, five-time champion, that is.

Soy de Venezuela y decimos Lentes y Lentes de contacto los que van dentro del ojo Audífonos o Auriculares ambos por igual Sarcillos Pantalón> pantalón de jeans, pantalón tubito, pantalón de vestir, etc., pero siempre pantalón Piscina Nevera y lo de arriba, congelador (más popular) o freezer, que también sería lo que venden por separado. Colita Gorra Tapa boca Placa o matricula (más formal o en lo legal) Fregador y el del baño es lavamanos, lava platos es lo usado para fregar Edredón o cubre cama, cobija seria lo que usas para arroparte Chamo o carajito lo más popular y puberto sería para insultar Olla Ponquecito

La chica argentina tuvo varias omisiones en como llamamos a los distintos objetos: 1_En Argentina se les llama anteojos o lentes, cualquiera de los dos. 2_ Les decimos Auriculares pues son externos. Llamamos audífonos al que se introduce en el oido. 3_ Jean o pantalón vaquero(este último es más común en las personas de mayor edad). 4_ Le llamamos HELADERA y a la parte superior la llamamos "freezer" a las heladeras modernas pero en las heladeras antigua (que no tenían tanto frío) se les llamaba "congelador" al sector donde se hacías los cubitos de agua. 5_ Pileta o Bacha de cocina 6_ Colcha/acolchado o cubrecama (no es frazada).

En Puerto Rico: 1) espejuelos o lentes (para ver), gafas (para el sol), lentes de contacto (las pequeñas) 2) audífonos. a veces usamos auricular; pero es muy raro 3) pantalla 4) mahón 5) piscina 6) nevera; la parte más fría de la nevera le llamamos fríser (del inglés "freezer") 7) gomitas, moñas o liguillas 8) gorra 9) mascarilla 10) tablilla 11) fregadero. si es las manos, lavamanos 12) comfort o colcha 13) muchacho, chamaquito 14) olla; si es grande, caldero 15) cupcake (de paso, no necesita frosting para que sea cupcake)

He entendido casi todas las palabras, pero observo la incorporación de muchos anglicismos, como por ejemplo Jeans para referirse a los pantalones. He decir que en España, aunque menos, también se utiliza. Viva nuestro idioma común.

I actually cannot believe i can understand so much of this! Spanish is one language I've put in minimal formal education because i mostly learn and use it with my Hispanic coworkers. Yet i understood more in this video than I'd expect despite my only resources being friends, coworkers, bachata, y libros

You should keep studying it! Imagine if you actually tried! I’m a Latina, but there’s a decent number of white US citizens that come to our language exchange group who have great Spanish. They speak and understand it, but they simply sound like foreigners. That’s not a problem!

Hola soy Mexicano y quiero comentar de algunos términos que escuché en el video. Pila en México le decían a los depósitos hechos de ladrillos y bien acabados para tener agua para lavar la ropa pues en la antigüedad las señoras lo hacían a mano y de ahí tomaban el agua. Después le cambiaron el nombre a tanques. Y la otra es que al adolescente que apareció faltó mencionar que en México les decimos 'chamaco' de forma coloquial como quería saber la chica de España. Buenísima dinámica. FELICIDADES!!! 🎉

Muffins are cupcakes with things on the top and filled with cream sometimes with many different ingredientes and colores i think. In Spain when they are decorated like this we call too muffins or cupcakes. I imagine the same but two different ways to name them.

To certain words the diminutive suffix of "ino", "ello", "etto" can be added, for example tavolo, which in English means table, the suffix "ino" or "etto" can be added to describe precisely a small table, however when you see one of these suffixes it is not always because there is a diminutive, there are words of full meaning without diminutives, like lavandino (sink), parapetto (parapet), sgabello (footstool), ombrello (umbrella) etc etc Now that you make me think about it, "lavandino" is probably actually a diminutive, but it's so commonly used to describe that type of object that it's not pronounced with the purpose of diminishing.

9:00 Just a curiousity:in Italy we call them jeans too, the reason is that the fabric came from Genoa. Google:"The word Jeans comes from a twilled cotton fabric called 'Genoa fustian'; often used to make durable workwear. Labourers in the United States referred to their workwear as ' Jeans', after the city Genoa, where the fabric was initially woven". Ciao chicas!

I'm very surprised that I understood everything y'all were saying. I had very minimal Spanish education in the US (all in middle and high school). But I was following EVERYTHING! yo estoy aprendiendo italiano. hay muchisimas palabras que son iguales, o casi iguales. lo que si me confunde es cuando las cosas cambian de sexo. por ejemplo en espan~ol las botas(stivali) son femeninos y los zapatos(scarpe) son masculinos. y la palabra nipote de da dolor en el cerebro.....pero aparte de eso cuando veo palabras nuevas casi siempre puedo descifarlas sin buscar en el diccionario.

Yo creía eso hasta que una prima mía se casó con un italiano, en esa época se daba latín en los institutos y más o menos entendía el italiano escrito entre lo parecido al español y al latín, hasta que escuché al marido de mi prima y a su familia, no me enteraba de nada, no se si sería por el acento o la velocidad pero fue frustrante, yo pensaba podría comunicarme mejor y nada 😂😂😂, con gestos y con risas con sus padres, muy simpáticos y agradables. El que si entiendo bastante es el dialecto brasileño, al portugués no lo entiendo tanto, pero en el de Brasil curiosamente se entiende gran parte.

I understand perfectly well those who are in the process of learning this romance language. It's very important to note that while two native Spanish speakers can mostly understand the "standard" language, it's also true that when each one speaks more quickly or uses different words or idioms for the same meaning, or even with the presence of a natural accent, all these factors often lead to someone having to say "sorry, could you repeat..". So, again, if each one speaks with neutral language, all Spanish native speakers can understand each other effortlessly.

gracias a este vidéo. Me gustan todos países hispanohablantes. Pero mi corazón está con español Argentino hace mucho tiempo. Fue muy interesante saber que palabras se usan en países diferentes. Entiendo que es una broma de española sobre español correcto, pero en serio creo que es tan hermoso que la lengua en todos los países de America Latina tiene su sabor y aroma de español. Suerte!😊

😂 muy original e instructivo vuestro vídeo. En España al frigorífico también se le llama nevera, aunque no tenga nieve dentro, aunque hace siglos los neveros eran construcciones bajo el nivel del suelo donde acumulaban la nieve para el verano, y luego están los neveros naturales, que son lugares orientados al norte donde no da el sol y en verano no termina de fundirse.

Sì pero a veces realmente hay palabras que no, por ejemplo yo tengo 42 años y hace sólo 4 o 5 me enteré que en España "rebeca" es un tipo de cardigan (o lo que en uruguay llamaríamos "saquito"). No hace muchos años me encontré con españoles que no sabían lo que era una "pollera" o una "musculosa".

@@jmanuelloo3484 Muchos de los anglicismos podrían ser eliminados si nos acostumbramos a preferir palabras de otras lenguas latinas con el mismo significado a los anglicismos en uso. Y también muchas veces hay opciones entre todas las diferentes jergas de español que existen en Latinoamérica. El problema es que muchos anglicismos se meten al castellano a través de Puerto Rico, mexico y los latinoamericanos nacidos en Estados Unidos. Son muchas las películas y canciones que usan anglicismos de estos países. Pero yo me he dado cuenta que una colaboración entre todos los que hablan una lengua latina puede eliminar toda influencia anglosajona en el castellano y todas las lenguas latinas. Por ejemplo software en francés es 👉 logiciel 👌 Para mi es mucho mejor decir logiciel que software. Siempre hay una solución/traducción elegante a cualquier anglicismo si preferimos usar una palabra derivada del latin. Es mejor evitar usar anglicismos. Yo soy Estadounidense y no me gustan los anglicismos. Mi familia a vivido en California desde antes de que fuera un estado de Estados Unidos y nunca hemos dejado de hablar español. Y lo hablamos sin anglicismos. Las lenguas latinas son las más hermosas del mundo 🗺️

Videos with Latin languages are my favourites! For me as a Greek, and having some basic knowledge in spanish, it is much easier to understand Argentinian Spanish than spanish from Spain! As far as spanish from Colomvbia or Mexico is concerned, it is something inbetween :)

Spanish is the same everywhere. Of course accents are different. There are some regional variations for foods (names of dishes) and clothes also may have different names. But these are small things that could be easily learned in a matter of days. Argentinian Spanish is a bit different because of their use of vos which is reminiscent of medieval Spanish. But overall their Spanish is still very easily understood.

As a Brazilian neighbour I thought it would be interesting to leave the Portuguese version of the words for comparison. 1) ÓCULOS (glasses). We also have the word LENTE or LENTES but we use them only for the glass parts. So, los "óculos" tienen dos "lentes" de vidrio. We also say "lentes de contato" for contact lenses. In Portuguese, lente is also feminine. 2) FONES DE OUVIDO or the short version FONES (earphones/headphones). 3) BRINCOS (earrings). We also say "brincos de argola" for hoop earrings. 4) CALÇA JEANS (jeans). "Calça" means pantalones. 5) PISCINA (swimming pool). 6) GELADEIRA (fridge). Very similar to Argentina. We also have the word "frigorífico" and it means the same as in Argentina. We also say "congelador" or "freezer" for the freezer. 7) XUXINHA (hair band). Very different here. 8) BONÉ (cap). It comes from the French bonnet. 9) MÁSCARA (mask). 10) PLACA DE CARRO (license plate). 11) PIA (sink). "Pia" is for the kitchen and bathroom ones. We also have the word "tanque" for a sink that is mostly used for washing clothes. 12) EDREDOM (duvet). We also have the word "colcha" and "cobertor". But each of these words are for different types. 13) MOLEQUE or MENINO (boy). We have many words for this of course. But interestingly we also have the word PIVETE similar to Argentina. Funny thing, in Portugal they say "puto" lol. However, the feminine of puto to mean girl is not "puta" haha it's "pita". That's not used in Brazil though. 14) PANELA (pan/pot). 15) MUFFIN or BOLINHO (muffin).

In French we say 1) Lunettes and for contact lense we say lentille de contact. 2) Casque. 3) Boucles d'oreilles. 4) Jean and for pants we just say pantalon. 5) Piscine. 6) Réfrigirateur / Frigo and for the freeze we say congélateur or congélo. 7) Elastique / Chouchou there might be other words too but it'm not sure i don't use hair bands anyway XD 8) Casquette. 9) Masque. 10) Plaque d'immatriculation. 11) Evier for the sink in the kitchen and for the one in the restroom/bathroom we say lavabo. 12) Couverture / Couette / Duvet. 13) Adoléscent / Ado. 14) Casserole. 15) Muffin. I probably forgot a lot of ways to describe those haha

Es curioso, porque siendo uruguayo, vecino de Argentina, y de zona fronteriza con dicho país, creí que íbamos a tener más similitudes. A los primeros les llamamos lentes, no anteojos, aunque sabemos su significado. Respecto al femenino para lente, se usa más cuando es la lente de una cámara, pero en el resto de los casos, lo decimos en plural, los lentes, es raro decir “el lente”. De todos modos, aquí todos saben que gafas y anteojos hacen referencia a eso, pero no los usamos. También a los que van en la pupila les llamamos “lentes de contacto”. Respecto al segundo elemento, le llamamos auriculares, y se puede especificar como que son inalámbricos en este caso. Audífonos les decimos a los que van dentro de la oreja para personas sordas o con baja audición, tal como dijo la chica de España. El artículo que pende del lóbulo de la oreja, aquí se le conoce como “caravana”, dejando el término “aro” o “aros” en plural para cuando es circular, solamente. Lo de argolla se usa para los aros que sostienen una cortina que separa dos habitaciones. De todos modos, si alguien dice “pendiente” o “arete” también se entiende, pero no se usan jamás. Conocemos el uso de argolla de matrimonio, pero no lo usamos. Respecto a la prenda las piernas, les llamamos jeans (con el sonido fuerte del yeísmo típico rioplatense), o vaqueros, de forma indistinta. Coincidimos con la chica española, pues el término vaquero es por la tela vaquera, no tela jean. En Uruguay, donde la gente nada en verano, si no es la playa, es una piscina. No entiendo cómo en los otros países le dicen igual y no en Argentina, que está al lado. Pero bueno, con el electrodoméstico para enfriar, ahí sí coincidimos con Argentina, le decimos “heladera”. Un frigorífico para nosotros es igual que para los argentinos, donde matan las vacas y las guardan para luego exportar o distribuir. Algunas veces a este electrodoméstico también se le llama refrigerador, se usa menos, pero se usa también. A la parte superior, se le dice tanto congelador como freezer, el primero si es frío húmedo y el segundo cuando es frío seco, que no forma hielo. Al siguiente objeto, el que es para el cabello, ahí igual que en Argentina, “colitas” o “gomitas”. Cuando dijeron “liga”, se entiende igual que como dijo la chica española. En cuanto al objeto rojo que va en la cabeza para protegerse del sol, le decimos “gorro”, en masculino, pues “gorra” se usa más para lo que se pone en la cabeza para protegerse del frío en invierno. También sombrero. Antes (ya está en desuso, pero hace 30 años era común) se le decía jockey (pronunciado yoquei, con y rioplatense). Al siguiente artículo se le dice “tapabocas” en más del 50 % de los casos, pero se les dice de todas las otras formas como dijeron, cubrebocas, mascarilla y barbijo. Lo del auto, se le llama igualmente patente o matrícula, aquí “placa” no se utiliza, pero se conoce el significado por las películas en audio latino. Eso que se utiliza para lavar los platos en la cocina, se conoce como pileta, igual que en Argentina, pero jamás lavamanos, eso se asocia al baño, nunca a la cocina. De hecho, se dice “pileta del baño” y “pileta de la cocina” para uno y otro caso. En cuanto a lo que se coloca sobre la cama, se le dice igual que en Argentina, pero la última palabra, “acolchado”. Me llama la atención que la muchacha le haya dicho “frazada”, porque hasta donde he escuchado así se le dice a la cobija, pero no a lo que va por encima de eso. El término “colcha” se usa, pero para cuando es más fina, con un fin más decorativo, el de la imagen es grueso, para proporcionar más calor en el invierno, a ese se le dice acolchado. Respecto al chico adolescente, creo que la muchacha mexicana no entendió lo de coloquial, porque, por más que uno no sea de ahí, está cansado de escuchar el término “chavo” en la televisión, no sé por qué no lo dijo. En Uruguay le decimos “gurí” (término de origen guaraní). Los más viejos dicen “botija”, y principalmente en la capital. Ahora, la muchacha argentina lo dijo en la versión bonaerense, que no representa toda la Argentina, porque en el litoral argentino, también dicen “gurí”, tengo muchos conocidos de ahí y se expresan así. En lo de la olla, estamos todos de acuerdo, y acá se pronuncia igual que en Argentina. Respecto a la magdalena, en Uruguay también se le dice así, pero se entiende si alguien dice muffin o cupcake (con la misma aclaración que dijo la muchacha argentina, es cuando tiene una cobertura por encima este último caso). Más allá de las diferencias lingüísticas, me hicieron reír muchísimo, muy lindo el video.

Lo de audífono y lavamanos en Argentina también es igual que en Uruguay. La chica argentina se equivocó en esos. Y también decimos lentes así tal cual, sobre todo si son de sol. Y también la lente, en femenino, existe y es para hablar por ejemplo de las cámaras de fotos.

Hell yeah buddy! That’s the way to do it. I’m more or less on a native level now but still watch anything in the intermediate category or above that dreaming Spanish posts just because I love their team. These episodes are neat because I also developed a Pan-Latino Spanish (with heavy northern Mexican leanings in vocab and accent) and so it’s cool to see how my vocab in these videos align with Mexico and Colombia the most.

@@sasx1389 si tienen la misma raíz latina en la edad media compartían el castellano "vos" y el português "você", en el castellano de España se perdió y se mantuvo el usted (vuestras mercedes) y el tú y en el portugués europeo conservó você y tú hasta la actualidad, después el sonido "SH" en el español argentino no viene del portugués, ya que el 'ya' se pronuncia 'sha' y en el portugués el 'já' se pronuncia 'ya' y no sha
