However, the interesting part about this show is that almost everybody has had antagonistic moments at some point. It’s a fun dynamic over the usual good versus bad stuff with a morally challenged character here and there. Soldier Boy is merely the lesser of two evils. Far from a good person, and I doubt he’d ever truly be able to redeem himself. But I do feel as though he could earn some respect. Far from a protagonist, but certainly not an antagonist.

Soldier boy unconsciously showed restraint because Hughie showed he cares for his teammates. That's what soldier boy is looking for, he just doesn't know it yet, but deep down,he respect Hughies value. Soldier boy seems like he matured after everyone betrayed him, and left him alone and then witnessing hughie and butchers none dysfunctional interactions with teammates.

@@user-py3jq5jk2iThis is my take as well. They didn’t risk him on Normandy but Gustavo Fring even said they had practical military applications in the field. He was probably mopping up resistance in France and Germany after the beachhead was established. Not as impactful as storming the beaches but still pretty damn impressive.

@@spinekingjrgensen5779 Not true. Finishing WW2 would’ve meant millions of American and Russian lives and tens of millions of Japanese lives. The Japanese were not the kind of people to back down from a conventional fight. Even after 2 stars appearing in their cities they were ready to fight.

No, no. I think he would have. He's been through quite a bit. I don't think he's as afraid of them anymore. This is a man who has killed people multiple times now. This is a man who has faced some serious stuff and survived. Even if he felt fear in the moment of death, I don't think he fears instigating it anymore.
