How to chop a UTV Can-Am Maverick sport cage. So in this video I show you how I chopped the top on the can-am maverick sport xrc. This was a bit more of a project than others make it out to be but i got it and it turned out great. I also a new roof. Professional modification only, don't try this at home, like I did. I am not responsible for your actions, should you choose to do this how I did.

My tech school welding instructor always said “A grinder and paint can make a welder what he ain’t!!” All kidding aside I do line the low roof line look as well, thanks for the vid.

Nice modification! I like your RC sitting on the back shelf there 😉 Sort of, lol. Anything but a Traxxas!! Haha. Good video. Wish I could weld! 👍😎⚓

love the vids, awesome job on the roof and cage. i do most of my my own work on my projects too. the only thing i really want to say to you is a helmet you really do need to wear one. --- rock climbing with your machine is fun until you hit an off camber rock flip and a boulder comes through the side and hits you in the head--- have seen more than a few people get there bell rang this way. a few had brain damage after their accident. have fun with your machine and stay safe.

Like the Roof.......price is right and does the job by the look, as far as the welds ......that's what grinders are for as long as the penetration is good it's a winner. Keep up the vids!

After cutting into this cage, what's your opinion on how strong/well made it is? do you think its adequate to protect your family in a roll over?

It's as good as any factory cage. That said, I've put aftermarket cages on both of my X3s.

Looks great, I'm wondering if I can do that with my maverick xxc. You should cut the corners of the back of the roof.

Definitely looks better. Go to Home depot and get a can of truck bedliner spray to paint your welds. It's almost a perfect match in color, texture, and sheen.

Oh, I'm going to flick you crap about the welds. 25 years.... I was a painter/combo man for 7. Heavy on the painter. Fabricator for 10. Been millwrighting for 10. It's your roll cage though. I have apprentices that can weld better. Lol. I'll give it to you though, you put it out there and don't care. 👊

Haha, thanks. Haven't been in the shop to weld in over a year. I know the didn't look great but I know they function. I think next time I post up any welding I will have to redeem myself. I mostly painted, custom owned a body shop for 8 years, and had several employees, don't want that again. Haha.

@@rockymountainbackcountry1588 Right on. Ya, the paint life can be pretty stressful if you're good at it. Millwrighting is much easier. Lol. Keep up the good work with the vids. I enjoy watching them. Down to earth and I like that.

Another good video on the MAVERICK SPORT XRC. I would like to know what you have installed on the firewall behind the seats.. Is it a HEAT protective material?

Just really for looks, I cant stand the big hump they look like they have. I really like the look of the flat roofs. plus to put a roof rack on it will be easier.

Super easy, the front of the bottom seat just pops up and you slide it forward and out. The bottom of the back pops out and slides up and out.

Note if you are not a true welder do not do this at home. The first time he rolls those welds are going to break. Just spend the money to have your cage done right it’s cheaper then a hospital bill or a funeral.
@danbskyguy
@danbskyguy 4 жыл бұрын
The whole job looks horrific! Have you welded before? Looks like a rookie. You’ve just destroyed your machine and made it lose all of its structural integrity. It’s a death 💀 trap now!

@BradLewisTucsonXRC
@BradLewisTucsonXRC 4 жыл бұрын
I have to pretty much agree with Dan (although I would have tried to say it with a bit more tact) - wish I could have sent you a personal response rather than public. You need to start wearing a helmet when you ride - if you ever roll your machine, a helmet might be the only thing that keeps that un-engineered goobered up "chopped" top from ending up in your lap. Your $100 roof, well...it looks like a $100 roof. I've seen "blue tarp" roofs that look better. Sorry to be critical and blunt, but...IMHO!
@rockymountainbackcountry1588
@rockymountainbackcountry1588 4 жыл бұрын
@@BradLewisTucsonXRC ouch. Thanks for the input, I think. I dont have any worries about the structural integrity of the roof. And a blue tarp looks better? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Thanks for watching though. I thought I might get some negative feedback on this. Haha on to the next vid, hopefully it will de more appealing. Have a good day and ride safe man.
