For me, the BEST part about all your comms w/ Gonky, in this vlog, or any other is....the humor, comradery, irreverence, respect. MASTERS of the statement/dry humor. Even when it's just DCS. MORE of the same is super cool....isn't it AMAZING at the "realness" of sims available today?!!

My Uncle-In-Law was an F-16 pilot, instructor, and test pilot. He had some say on the F-35 avionics. Anyway he told me even with two engines the F-18 were underpowered. I don't know if that hold true today, but I would opt for the Viper every time. Thanks for the video!

The Hornet is underpowered compared to its counterparts in the United States military inventory. But there are numerous things that have to be taken into consideration when it comes to the “why” factor. I’m almost positive Mover made a video a long time ago explaining the “Why”. It has a lot to do with the Hornet being a Naval aircraft and having to land and take off from a carrier.

I too on F-15E release day engaged in carrier ops with myself and a friend in the Viper, another person in the Mudhen, a Tomcat and 2 Hormets. Cassic DCS shenanigan laced times

OMG, I watched the whole thing thinking Gonky was drunk. Then I realized that it was playing at 0.75 speed. For some reason Mover sounds normal at 3/4 speed but Gonky definitely sounds like he had been prepping at bit too much in the ready room. Funny.

I imagine some military procurement officer watching this video and spitting out his drink when he sees the viper easily take off and land then scream out "my god why didn't we realize that 😮" I'm not exactly an expert on this kind of thing, but for some reason I have trouble believing that the viper could take off in a couple hundred feet without even using the catapult. Just kinda seems like something that would be really simple to do if it was actually possible

The radar alt for the strike eagle is off by default, not sure if that is accurate. But to turn it on you need to press data on the HUD control panel and then 9 or 8 on the UFC to enable it. it get's an * when it's on.

The radar altimeter is turned on and off by a toggle switch on the left console. The UFC button you're talking about only controls whether the radar altitude is displayed on the HUD, not whether the altimeter radiates or not

American 4th gen fighters are the Mount Rushmore of military aircraft. F14 my fave (Yes, I love Top Gun & Macross!) F15 F16 F/A 18 Everyone in the comment section arguing who is #1 is just like arguing which branch of the military is #1. You have a preference and that's all it is. Cuz deep down we all know the true GOAT is the A10!
