2000 points? If he wants to. He wanted cups, he got them. He wanted Olympic gold, he got them. He wanted scoring titles, he got them. They said he was more of a playmaker than a scorer, so he wanted to score more and went out and got Rocket Richard trophies. Barring a catastrophic injury, if this guy wants something, I wouldn't bet against him.

Both are going to have 2000+ points , the difference is Crosby's going to achieve it despite injuries in his prime and a lower scoring era.

The question isn’t “will he reach 2000 points,” the question is “will he play long enough to get 2000 points.”

No way. I don't see him playing that many more seasons. I would predict he gets wedged between Lemieux his predecessor and mentor and Stevie Y (who was one of his idols, I believe).

i would love for him to get 2000 points but will he be able to keep up the scoring pace (i hope he does)

Unfortunately Sid missed a large chunk of his Prime years. He could have had another 250-300 points. Sid also doesn’t rely on speed. His skating strength is his edges. McDavid is going to slow down early and more noticeably when he passes 31-32. Speed is much more important to McDavid.

I’m going with no. Considering he’s reached 100 points in one season 6 times and hasn’t been there in 5 years. He’s not getting younger and the pens ain’t getting better. He’d have to to hit 100 points every year for the next 4 years to reach 2000 points by 40. And a 40 year old putting up 100 points just isn’t going to happen. If he plays till he’s 44 or 45 then he might be able to. But I doubt it.

i love seeing people that know nothing about hockey post stuff like this..... if you took any time to do the slightest research you'd see that the game is less physical and there are more goals being put up than in the last 40 years... if he plays ANYWHERE close to the amount of game the 8 guys ahead of him played he easily hits 2k points.... Guy put up 120 in the dead puck lowest scoring era in nhl history and also was on pace for 130+ TWICE in the lowest scoring era in nhl history...

I love clever diss comments like this so it allows me to respond... If you took time to actually watch the video, you would know I said Crosby would not reach 2000 points, ONLY because I dont believe he will play long enough, considering he cares more about winning trophies than chasing stats, he would probably retire when he no longer believes he could be a key contributor to winning... I'm well aware that the pace of game has increased and that the game is less physical today, but Crosby is also aging, meaning he would be more prone to injury, and his production would decrease, which is evident by the fact that he had 506 points in 371 games in his first 5 seasons (1.36ppg), and 472 points in 404 games in his last 6 seasons (1.17ppg), despite the fact that goal scoring up... Its fine if you think I dont know anything about hockey, but I know how to read numbers.

He put up 120 once and never again got that high. On pace for 130 does not mean 130. Which he never reached.
