I know EXACTLY what you mean, one of my guys is killing me. The best reasoning I could get out of him was that he doesn't want to disappoint his family or leave the way of his ancestors. Keep making dua everyday I had a christian friend who was stubborn for so long and one day he came to the mosque with me spontaneously and accepted Islam. He had a different look on his face, I can’t explain it. Guidance is from Allah SWT at the end of the day.

You can give them dawah by taking them to Eid events, family events, surround them around good Muslim people. Let them see for themselves.

But since there is no further explanation about this action, this is not a mandatory action to be done by muslims.
