It's the "hook" of the premise. The "Odd Couple" formula. Felix is the anal, well put together, always prim and proper. Oscar is the free spirit who is often unkempt, dresses poorly for the situation, and in general messy. This mix is timeless comedy gold.

the measure of good manners is how you treat others that don’t have any!
@warribe
@warribe Жыл бұрын
Honestly, not to me. To me the way a person treats someone that can’t do anything for you is a matter of character, of essence. That isn’t changeable, and after you’re no longer a child, there’s no school of good manners that will teach you that.
@victorcates9330

Being able to function with grace is a nice-to-have. But it can be a double-edged sword. If someone serves you swill and you're obliged to eat it and compliment the chef in the interests of being polite, then they might serve the dish again the next time. Good manners can become an exercise in futility if your civility is mistaken for friendship. If you're being fastidiously courteous to someone you hate, then it's possible you're doing them the disservice of wasting their time while smiling as you're forced to eat unholy swill that might come with their hospitality. At the high end of manners, it's silly if it means that you waste the time of the other party. I was raised by wolves. Respect was a value that trumped civility a lot of the time. And grace would require that you didn't make people feel uncomfortable. There are various ethics that might trump mindless performance. However, at the low end of manners, I could do without being forced to see food inside someone else's mouth.
@druncle1977

@@victorcates9330 In Denmark, we call this a bear service, or bjørne tjeneste if you will. It means that you're doing something for somebody that doesn't actually benefit them. Like giving a beer to a alcoholic is doing the alcoholic a bear service. It's not polite to lie, be honest always. If you don't like what is being served, it's okay to say: Sorry, but this particular kind food isn't to my liking. There is nothing impolite about politely telling the truth.

Well, yes, but I believe it's really marked by how you treat anyone. In my opinion it ought to be the same for everybody; use good manners no matter who you're with or where you are, regardless of your company's status or behavior. This isn't to say you should be a doormat, you can be polite and even elegant while calling out poor treatment in someone else if you do it correctly. When someone is consistently kind and well mannered, that's how you see their true character.

Hazel and brown are both called brown by men. Men use simplified color naming. We can see and notice the difference. But we just call both brown for simplicity. In case there is a need for more exact determination of the color, we use color codes such as when buying a bucket of paint or when using graphic design software.

But growing up I lived in California where my dads parent's lived and whenever we visited my grandmother she would teach me and my siblings proper etiquette, whenever she saw us doing something unproper. Most of it was at the dinner table like elbows off, sit up straight, no Nintendo ds's or phones. And my mom made sure to try teaching a 5 yo tom boy, me, how to behave for a cruise. And overall I did well, except one breakfast where I belched like a sailor which received applause and laughter from the other passengers. I was proud cuz I was receiving praise my mom on the other hand was trying to dissolve into her seat.

It would’ve been funny if a Brett and Candace recreated the job interview scenes from step brothers when they first sat down.

I need to go to this class. I’m so glad you guys took it. Daily Wire offer these classes in the US. Lol different type of schooling or like part of PragerU or something like that

The real advantage of learning acceptable behaviour in different company is that you can use it to either fit in or opt out to suit yourself. Having seen Brett's efforts with the sugar tongs, I would suggest that she remains at a safe distance from chopsticks.

Sure, there is stuff you do in certain situations, but you can always be both cultural and respectful (at the same time go with the flow) in every situation

Back in my day.. Sadly a hell of a long time ago. We had elocution lessons at Primary school (5~11) and again in High school (11~16) Something that is sadly, rarely done these days.

Such a great video 🙂 Etiquette really is important. I frequently see people eating with their hands and wearing pyjamas outside. Our country really has lost its way. As a side note, I’m Cornish and it’s always jam first here. The cream is the nicest part, so you want that tastiness to touch the top of your mouth when you bite in to it. I hope you enjoyed your stay in our nation’s capital. God bless 🇬🇧
