Honestly, a really cool device and a great review. I could see them being very useful for breaking language barriers a little bit. But of course I would also prefer to learn the language myself.

I feel like this was such a good spnsored video, because it really didn't feel like one. I am agreeing with you tho, that learning the language itself is the prefered way to go. But it's nice gadget!

Thank you for this. Could you PLEASE try this with a elderly person. It would be so awesome to know whether what they say is interpreted correctly because I remember the last time I was in Japan I felt this was very sad that I could not talk to them.

This is so interesting.. as a native English speaker, to be honest i kind of like it that other people xan just communicate in their native tongue and directly to each other without having to bother with English! Thats refreshing! And curious to see what translates to what directly, when its not forced through the medium of globalisation first. Also, your wall lights and hanging pot plant have a satisfying matching droopy swoop to them 😊 its nice 🥰

Interesting video Julian. Yeah, I would still rather learn myself than use special earphones as well lol. I could maybe pick up a bit of each language without translations. Russian the most but I have been learning Russian the longest on and off for almost a decade. Swedish it has been 4 and a half years. And Japanese I used to learn a bit growing up but understand the least.

I would only ever consider getting it for the offline language pairs, since you never know for sure if companies or services online will be around, or if you will even have data coverage in every location. Neat idea, though.

Wow the dual earphone feature really is the biggest part of this, but I do agree I think it would be better to learn the languages.

maybe if youre a film maker going to different countries, you can have meaningful short conversations with the vendors and filming-location owners, to iron out logistic details. LOL smut 🤭

Are you a professional translator that has a work visa in Japan? Curious as to how you transitioned out of language school

I studied English literature, so no translation. I sort of fell into it haha ~ and I stay here on a working holiday visa as a freelancer. Thanks for the comment!

@@FishSlappeedid you have to get a degree to become a translator or a certificate of some kind?
@FishSlappee
@FishSlappee 6 ай бұрын
@@13z I got my first translation job (not as a freelancer, but at a company) because I had a BA in English and spoke fluent Swedish. I've never had a degree in translation or a special certificate. I've heard that it can help for some people though!

Would be better if you do this in real time and not edit each time you asks a question as it seems your making it look like it's translating instantly with no lag.

Not sure I understand how this would work, if you need to ask a foreigner to wear this to understand what you say, not practical.

The most important performance aspect is translation delay, but it's obvious that your video has been edited, hiding the delay time between questions and answers. Was this done intentionally?
