Can I turn a WOOD STOVE into a FURNACE? Waste oil heat CHEAP!

Finally replacing my tired old barrel stove with a new to me woodstove AND adding waste oil burning capability. I've been wanting to do this upgrade for over a year and am super excited to finally have it done!!

Very Nice stove. Can I make some suggestions for modifications? To get away from having to adjust the valve frequently, Use a Pulse type Fuel ( for carbs or lift ) pump on a timer board. have it pump oil for say 1 second on and 10 off or whatever you need. You can then have a drum of oil behind the stove on the floor rather than hot oil sitting round on top of the stove. You won't have to worry about the oil being thick with a pump and will be able to tune the heater very precisely to the heat you want and it will stay there pretty close even with different "Fuels". If that pot gets knocked you could have major problems. The other thing is your stove should have a plate inside to stop the fire sucking straight up the flue like it is now. That's bad. It's inefficient and somewhat dangerous. The plate should be above the fire and below the flue with a gap to the front wall so the heat has to go along the bottom of the plate, forward and above the plate to get to the flue. This spreads the heat around the stove walls and gives much better output for the fuel burnt. ATM its heating the outside of your place better than the inside. It looks like there are supports inside the stove where this should sit. Old BBQ cast Iron plates are great for this cut to size or just have a piece of 1/2" plate cut . You can also put a desk fan blowing on the stove to take more heat away and spread it round more evenly. Would be good on the side where the vehicle is at that looks pretty close. I think you are also going to find your oil feed will block in pretty short time. Being in the flame path it will boil and coke the oil and it will carbon up. Better to feed it from the side and front and put it in a piece of pipe as bit of a heat shield. Hope this helps and good luck with it!

Thank you for the tips! I'll definitely add the steel plate, that makes a lot of sense. I'll work on some kind of pump system and move my feed location when it comes time for revisions!

👍👍 Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences very appreciated it here 👍👍 I've been meaning to build something like that but I don't understand the principles of operation or function if you have some spare time and read this would you be so kind and tell me what is the function of a air small blower? I noticed you didn't use one Anyway brother keep up with the good work 👍👍💯👊

So the style oil burners that use and air blower are typically using it to atomize the oil/fuel. It creates a much cleaner and more efficient burn, but obviously adds some complexity. You'll need to be able to adjust the oil flow and the air flow to properly tune it, as well as creating a nozzle that feeds the air and oil/fuel. That's my surface level understanding, there are lots of videos on here with lots of different styles and methods to make that style burner as well.
