Just came across your channel. Really loved this video! The little pancakes you bought at 21:50 are called Atayef and they're definitely not meant to be eaten as is (I'm sure they tasted weird if you already did). We usually fill them with nuts (or Egyptian white cheese and Pastarami) and deep fry them. The nuts-filled type is then drenched in syrup or honey and is absolutely delicious. They're a staple at every house during Ramadan. By the way, crazy story with the older guy. As an Egyptian, I've never seen such a thing happen. Sorry that happened. The guy must've been an idiot who was trying to be funny. I assure you, as much as Egypt has (A LOT) of problems, including catcalling and clingy beggars, physical assault is something you should not worry about. I hate so many things about Egypt, but physical safety is definitely not on the list (excluding the chance of being hit by a car 🤣). I found the Google and Apple sticker thing hilarious. I'm guessing the guy works in tech because these are the exact Google stickers we get in Google Cloud's annual conference in Egypt. I also have a bunch of the exact same stickers in the same sizes, but I haven't had the chance to spam stick them on my apartment's doors 🤣

Thanks so much for watching and leaving this comment, Boba! I'm not sure if you watched my Egyptian food video, but we tasted the Atayef and it was very bland indeed! I'm sure they're delicious the way you described them, though. I was never worried about physical assault in Egypt. That's true. What happened with the old man was bizarre and it's NEVER happened to me in any other country but hey... sh*t happens, right? Yah, the Apple/Google thing was bizarre. What's funny is: I actually saw the same Apple table at a bus stop in Cairo. hahaha. Again, thanks for watching!

@@GringoNation Hey 👋🏼 I missed the video where you ate them. I’ll check it out. I bet it will be so funny seeing you try to eat Atayef while they’re raw haha. Yeah, sorry that happened. I wish you would’ve put the guy on video so he could be publicly shamed.

Lots of information and good energy in this video. Be careful not to "lose your ass" out there and good luck in the hunt for more apple products in Egypt. Are these the new camera and mic? I liked the quality.

WELL WELL WELL... Look who dropped a comment! Thanks so much Johnneeeeee! I will keep a close watch on my bottom. Would you like me to bring you any Apple tables? I saw another one at the bus station in Cairo. This was my first video with the new camera. Still getting the hang of it, but I loved the result too. And I forgot my mic that day so this is the native microphone. Pretty good, eh?! Love you Danny! :-)))

The first thing you should know in Cairo is that anyone who asks you for money, whether a child, a woman, or a man, is not poor, but rather fraudsters. They have two household allowances and are richer than you and me, but the poor in Egypt never ask people for money. Every neighborhood in Egypt has a poor and a rich, and the rich is required in Islam to give alms to the poor, but the people in the street are nothing but fraudsters.

That child looked very healthy, but they are told that if they see foreigners to beg bc they are often suckers. Kids aren’t stupid, they aren’t going to turn away an opportunity for free money.

how do you know that ?
@norhanabdo2997
@norhanabdo2997 Ай бұрын
@@okamiguyy I am Egyptian and I go through these situations a lot, especially in Ramadan. All the people who ask for money from passers-by are not poor at all. They have homes and agricultural lands, but my father knows those who are truly in need. He goes to their homes and they are not the ones who knock on people's houses, and all Egyptians know this matter, but also in Islam you should not turn away the questioner, even if you are not going to give him money, so give him a kind word for this. The beggars on the road take advantage of this matter and take advantage of the kindness of people.

That’s crazy how you just assumed that people who are rich would rather sit on the streets for hours begging for 10pounds which can barely even do anything in this economy and are frauds, no a lot of them are actually struggling even though you never know and some may be lying but generalizing all homeless people in Cairo to be frauds is insane😭 plus you can do whatever you want if you don’t want to give them don’t, but if someone else chooses to help then that’s good on them. And in Islam it’s with the intention, if you help someone bc you think they are struggling even though they MIGHT be lying, it doesn’t change the fact you tried to help bc you thought they needed help:)
