I know how you feel with the keyboard content creation being a money sinkhole. It’s really tough. To make more content, you need stuff. But that costs money and KZfaq doesn’t pay even close to the price of a single board. It’s exhausting. I need a patreon lmaooo

One thing I want to note to help with your build and switches is that, before you install the boards altogether, install the outrims (the mods and numbers) to hold the plate and PCB still. Then, you can install the board, then put the switches on in the alphas more easily. The reverse is also convenient if you wanna try out different switches, where you take out the alphas first then replace with new switches before getting to the mods.

Love your videos! Glad to see some more content from you. To be honest, I've seen quite often where the more budget keyboards get a lot of views. Alexotos said that when he first started creating content, he would tear down and rebuild his RAMA board every week for the first 5 months. lol I consume a lot of custom keyboard content and I feel that you have an affinity for making content like this. It's always very easy to watch your videos and to be honest, this 16+ minute video felt like it was only half as long just due to your engaging approach to how you explain and articulate everything. Hoping to see more!

i came across your channel when i was searching for ikki68 review videos, bought a second hand ikki68 r1 right after that, and after trying a lot of different configs, i stopped at Alpacas + Pom Plate (with upgraded aesthetics like brass weight + black alu top) and like you, i just stopped watching keyboards content, and don't really care about newer keyboards too. I guess i will be excited once Wuque released an alu bot for ikki but for now, i think im burnt out too. I hope you can find a new future for this channel, really like your videos' style

Sir Caloy, what do you think between gat milky yellows and gat oil kings? Is there a big difference in sound (only heard smoothness diff only )?
@CaloysKeyboards

Hmmm I think the Oil Kings are better stock and don't need lube. Once you lube the Milky Yellow Pros, I don't think there's a big difference between the two. Certainly not as big as their price difference. But I haven't done an exact comparison to verify.

Hey! Just want to say if you don’t plan on coming back, I hope you enjoy and get success out of anything you want to do in life. KZfaq is not by any standard intended for a full time career, and I learned that through my youtube adventure. I feel the same way with you about this hobby. I have been retired for 3 times since 2020 until now, and I guess I will face the fourth times to retire in this hobby.. I don't know man, this hobby is fun but boring at the same time. You can't find any excitement if you watch a lot of videos about Mechanical Keyboards (switch, keycaps, kit, etc.). Moreover, you must spend a lot of money to keep it up. It's different with sports, console games, online games, or any general hobbies that don't need to be bankcrupt to be happy on it. That's why I'm retired for several times. Well, I love this hobby but I hope if I'm retired, I can retire forever.

Really love your videos and editing! ps. just have a question we have the same boom arm but I get all these desk vibrations when recording i tried putting foam on the mounting points to remedy it. Thank you! My boom arm is mounted to the same table. I also put a sheet of foam on mine just on the top of the table. I think it's 2mm EVA. Other than that, I don't really do anything so I'm not sure what's going on with yours 😅

Sucks that you are feeling down, the keyboard content space is definitely one which unfortunately requires a lot of money upfront hopefully some local vendors can sponsor you with at least some switches or keycaps you can review, or maybe you can see if any viewers live near your part of the world and would let you borrow boards to review.

The Tiger80 from KBDFans isn't exactly what enthusiasts want, but it could potentially be the next KBD67 Lite. The type of kit for people that just want in and out of the hobby. I also agree with your sentiment that the keyboard hobby is getting stale. I'm just about ready to exit the community, but before that, I need to build something I'd be satisfied with for the next 5 years.

I just now discovered you channel, and even tho you quit, I'll sub anyway. I feel like it's really hard for smaller channels to grow anymore in this niche hobby, since big channels being sent stuff for free makes them produce more videos even faster. Or you're just some IT dude who makes tons of money and can afford making videos on your hobby as a sidehussle, seems like many of the big youtubers started like that anyways. The hobby is not sustainable, just a glorified money draining machine

Not sure I understand the opening monologue: "I lose money making these videos...it puts my whole channel in limbo" - but your whole Channel literally only has keyboard content, and is called 'Caloy's Keyboards'...and Keyboards are supposedly holding your keyboard channel back from making money?? Hmm... Surely it's the other way around and keyboards have built you your audience, money, channel, etc.
@CaloysKeyboards
@CaloysKeyboards Жыл бұрын
Not sure I understand you either 😅. The reality is that I lose money in the process of making these videos. I've had to buy most of the products I cover and all of the equipment needed to produce the videos. It takes two to four weeks just to make one video. The ad revenue and sponsor money are not nearly enough to cover all of it. It's not wholly about keyboards as a topic although the fact that the products are so expensive is also a factor. I imagine that if I pivoted to a different topic, I'd probably lose money as well.
