Thanks for the video(s), man. Very informative. Really looking forward to your suspension video. I just got mine assembled a few hours ago, haven't even unlocked it yet but took it for a test spin. :) I struggled with the front axle for a few mins because depending on your setup it can kind of be a handful for one person if you have to lift the bike at all. I ended up getting my bike stand out instead of using the included cardboard and got it on pretty easily, though. It kinda made me wish I had done an unboxing/assembly video as I think it would be helpful for people who've never messed with having to partially assemble bikes. There are just little tips and tricks you learn along the way like choosing to re-route certain cables, the easiest way to get the wheel on, etc. Funny moment from earlier - in all my excitement I forgot that the display readout is in km/h by default and after I got up to around 44-46 in Sport mode I thought "Man, this isn't any faster than my 2022 Sting!" 😆 Definitely did not feel like an 8KW bike, lol. I had tried the button sequence unlock that worked on my first Sting and it obviously doesn't work on the R (or at least mine), so looks like I will be cutting the wire tomorrow. I just read it's a night and day difference from someone who left a review over at Luna. Can't wait!

Thanks! So happy to hear that. Thanks for confirming the sequence no longer works on the R. I can tell people to stop trying that now and just cut the brown wire. And let me tell ya… it is NIGHT and DAY! Enjoy !!! ⚡️😎

It is night and day different. The restricted sport mode is same as the unrestricted eco mode. Also you can just lay the bike on it's side on top of the cardboard box to put on the front wheel. I was too lazy to get my bike stand out.

I'll replace my chain with a roller chain when it needs one but I'll hold off for now. My bike indicated 56 on flat ground at 68% battery and I'm 215 lbs, I really think I could have gotten 57 indicated because I was running out of room, I'm guessing it'll actually run the stated 52mph as advertised which I'm pleased with. I'll probably go up some teeth on the rear for better low end but I'm VERY impressed with it bone stock! Thanks for a great vid!!

I agree. I hadn’t even considered that cause all I was concerned with was top speed, but it just makes sense to think that less resistance on the motor has to be more efficient = more range. At least slightly

My MX3 currently has a 40t rear sprocket and a non O-ring chain. Gained 2mph from 47 to 49. Less then I planned on but it's still pretty snappy though. Gearing seems to affect E-motos differently than gas motos in my experience.

By my quick math, comparing the relative drag forces of the two GPS speeds (51 vs 54 mph), swapping the chain allowed 12% more force/power to get to the wheels. I'm curious if this increased efficiency would be reflected in a range test. I would imagine you wouldn't get much increased range at max speed, like what Luna recently did on pavement, but I wonder if this chain swap would increase range by 10% or so on a trail ride where the average speed isn't much different between chains.
@freerfixedit
@freerfixedit Жыл бұрын
Dang. Thanks for doing that math! And that’s an excellent point. I was just concerned with speed, but I’m sure the higher efficiency helps with the range as well!

From the time I’ve spent building bikes, the oring chains effect is negligible once the chain has heated up. Plus the oring chain will last SOOO much long and makes the sprockets last longer.

@johnnygeorgopoulos4072

Yeah they might last longer, but chains and sprockets are consumables on a bike, and it's one of if not thee most cost efficient ways to improve your bike, and back to the consumables, I know when I rode dirt a lot, and even on most of my sport bikes, I either used aluminum sprockets, smaller pitched if I could, and no o-ring chains(usually not), and on my big sport bikes, like my Blackbird, I'd run hybrid sprockets, aluminum centers with steel teeth, Supersprox specifically, for less rotational mass.

I don't ride electric, hell, I don't ride anything anymore due to a neck injury which causes migraines (helmets weight will exacerbate), but I've ridden my entire life, from 4yrs old with minibikes and my dope ass Yamaha DT50 I bought myself when I was 11, my CR250R I bought when I was 14, my 500cc stroked Banshee, ATC250R, ATX200X, countless other old 2 stroke enduros and street bikes, dirt bikes, CR125M and 250M Elsinore's, Odyssey and a Pilot, Suzuki GSX-R 1000's, Quadzilla LT500R, 1972 Kawasaki H2 IV 750 triple, tons of bikes, quads, trikes, a bunch of CB750's...but after my injury at 38, I had to let go of my three last bikes, my baby, my CBR1100XX Super Blackbird that I spent thousands on rare Japanese performance and upgrade parts on, and my similarly kitted out 75 CB750K5 and my 79 CB750F, both had a ton of work, ond had a full Yoshi(the CBR had a full titanium TSR), the 79 had a Moriwaki exhaust, all three were running Keihin FCR's, they all had big bore kits (1195cc and 836cc's)....oh yeah, rambling lol.... anyway, everyone knows a good, non o-ring chain(I'm an EK guy) and especially, a drop in thickness (530 to 520 pitch ) will give you a good boost, something you definitely won't feel on a larger bike, but you definitely end up putting down more power to the ground.. and of course, you should be buying a chain and sprockets together, it's your cheapest and most efficient way to change the behavior of your bike. I've been looking at these electric bikes, don't think I'll get one, might see if I can get another CB though and just put around and forego that helmet..... I need to ride again 😅 maybe a smaller capacity CB or CL Scrambler, just something small and upright...ehhh
