This make so much sense, thank you. So I found that when I blast the windscreen with the heater on full heat the noise begins to stop but after a while comes back as heater is turned off, so softening the blades with heat will work as this will allow the blade to flow rather than push against. Also this is a brand new car with brand new wipers could also be standard of blade.

Using WD40 or any type of alcohol is a bad choice. Here's why. The rubber wipers are impregnated with a coating or graphite from the factory so they don't "screech" when in motion. Using WD40 or alchol removes most (if not all) of the carbon - that's why there is so much black stuff on your cloth. A better idea is to use a moist micro fibre cloth and wipe the blades gently to remove any foreign objects or grease. Then clean your window with a quality automotive window cleaner that is ammonia free. You may have to clean the window a number of times. Good luck.
@BOEINGMAX-nn6ku

That noise come from old rough rubber and maybe because some graphite coating was removed. Anyway, after cleaning of blades and widshield you can shave the blades with a specual cuting device like Ecocut Pro to reveal a better smooth rubber surface for best results reducing squeaking noise. Thos is a possible solution, but some reviewers had bad experiences with Ecocut Pro.

the WD40 needs to be used from the first install of new blades and reapplied about once a month. the other half of this equation is you need to wax your glass at the same time. this reduces drag and crates beading of the rain water and also adds lubrication for the blade. the main reason for the WD40 is to coat the rubber to act as part lubrication and to seal the rubber so it doesn't oxidise as fast, extending the blade life out to several years longer than would otherwise be the case. you can't "recondition": oxidised and worn rubber. you need to protect it from the start.
@WhittyPics
@WhittyPics 2 жыл бұрын
I never tried WD40. Silicone works great. I agree with waxing your glass.
@kennethchan6815
@kennethchan6815 Жыл бұрын
correct...waxing the windscreen not only protects the windshield...it reduces the friction as the wiper blades glides...waxing also repels water...but to really produce water beading...ceramic glass coating would be most ideal...

WD-40 is a penetrating lub., you need to let it sip into the rubber at some point. That's the reason it says don't use of rubber or seal because it will make them expand. For wiper may be different case because the wiper arm have spring to press it onto the wind screen surface.

With the cost of new windshields being so high now it's wiser to not mess with wipers and just replace with refills at least every 12 months. Why risk having your glass scratched? Good vlog: if you need new blades,the simple matter is BUY new blades... WD40 will clean blades up for sure....but reality is : if the rubbers are 'worn' then they are knackered and require replacement... If they are just dirty then you can just clean the rubbers with warm water and a clean microfiber cloth... Just my take on the original WD40 wiper rubber vlog. 303 Aerospace UV Protectant is truly amazing stuff. I've used it for many years on the hypalon fabric material on our Zodiac RIB. Not only does it keep the material soft and supple (no cracks or drying out) but it leaves a teflon like surface so smooth that dirt just rinses off with a hose. I made a video demonstrating this on my Amazon review. I currently use it to protect the large fiberglass nose cap on our truck camper. It not only protects it from UV degradation and hazing but it makes it easier to clean the inevitable mat of dead bugs that normally collect on the surface.

He been a mechanic since the sixtys. Spray WD40 on all the rubber bushings on you car top and bottom. Hinges sliding sunroof and much much more.

I did that too. It works and clean the blades very well. I also use them on my glass. So much better than mere glass cleaners. The alcohol really pull dirts off everything.

When rubber blade pressed too much time the windshield the result is deformation of blade and you will need to cut 1mm from that sharp deforned blade with tool Ecocut Pro.

Ok. I'm not an expert, but if you look closely at the video at about 2 .45, just before he turns on the wiper, the water on the glass disappears before the blade even gets to yet

I don't intend to make a deceiving video to waste my time. Yes there was no water on the glass when I started the wiper but I kept spraying water from 2:45 min until 3:15 min and the sound was still heard despite wetting it continuously. Thanks for that observations though. :)
