Great explanation!! Exercise contributes very little to your Total Daily Calorie Expenditure. Your Basal Metabolic Rate combined with your general activity level are the major contributing factors to how much energy ( calories) you are burning 🔥 daily. In regards to building muscle & strength training...this should absolutely be a priority after 12-18 months post op!! As you lose weight from bariatric surgery you are in an extreme calorie deficit, as obese Individuals actually have a higher BMR than lean individuals. Given that fact your body is going to use whatever it feels necessary to keep you alive : Fat, Muscle, Glycogen. You don't get to choose, your fat stores can only provide so much energy at a time. To fill the gap your body uses muscle glycogen and then actual muscle tissue. Without rebuilding the muscle lost it will be difficult long term to avoid regain. Muscle is the most Metabolicly active tissue in your body ( needs calories to maintain). The more muscle you have the more calories you burn at rest. The other issue is "Bariatric Food' that food manufacturers produce to keep you trapped in the vicious cycle of emotional eating. Focus on real Whole Food and ditch the processed food, your body will thank you
