Ya'll I am all in on Carnivore, you know that...but why does carnivore have to get so complicated? I get so confused and frustrated with all these trends that come and go. I see the huge drastic swings people take looking for some kind of quick fix...when what they really need to is to focus on consistency and fixing their relationship with food.
Ask yourself though as you are getting sucked into these trends if what you really need is just some consistency. And what is this new extreme supposed to do for you? What was the intended purpose in the first place? I tried to share a lot of context and nuance in this video, hopefully it comes across like I intended.

I agree! One thing that has been bothering me since my husband and I started carnivore 4 months ago is following someone and then seeing them get attacked because they are not being "carnivore enough". Excuse me? If you have moved off sweets, grains, flour, all the bad stuff, and you are in the realm of very low carb, I'm talking 20 carbs or less a day, and doing your best, then my goodness cut that person a break! We are dealing with addictions tougher to break away from than heroin or morphine! We don't need to be attacking each other because of a failure of perfection! This is going to turn people off who literally could have had their lives saved if it weren't for the carnivore police.

Totally agree with this video. I get so much flack for using a seasoning or eating dairy because “that’s not carnivore”. I don’t really care though because I am now off all autoimmune medication, NSAIDs, steroids, and blood pressure medicine. I am very slowly losing the weight but I feel my body is prioritizing healing. I’ve lost over 20 inches but not very much weight which says to me I was highly inflamed. My lupus symptoms are practically gone. My extreme photosensitivity is gone. While I was once basically a prisoner in my home hiding from the sun, I couldn’t even open the blinds without getting a rash and lots of itching, I can now go to the beach for the whole day with regular sunscreen and no fatigue. So carnivore with dairy and seasoning has given me freedom. I can play outside with the kids and go to the pool and everything else that everyone takes for granted. Sure the weight is coming off super slowly but I’ll take it because I no longer feel sick and am not a prisoner in my own home.

I was Strict Carnivore for 6 months. Now I have added a few pistachios, mushrooms, avocado, and spices. So am Ketovore. It helps me add more flavor to my foods and gives me some cravings for nutrients and variety. I am in this for the long haul. I have lost 55 lbs and my bs and bp are now almost normal. My pain is gone from the arthritis and fibromyalgia and I no longer sleep with cpap. Little by little I am getting better and better so yeah I will drink heavy whipping cream in my coffee. I will put a little variety in my diet. But I will never eat Frankenfoods again. Never going to chow on fruits or veggies and all that hurt me like the grains and sugars. And that includes the baked keto foods that are processed. I eat one ingredient foods and I am healthy. YAY! GO ME!

When I first started as a carnivore 9 months ago I felt great and I did use spices. I was quite literally attacked in a comment section by a carnivore for not being carnivore enough after 3 months into my journey and I had enough of the online community at that point. I felt like I was being attacked by a crazy vegan or something and I just didn’t need it. I realized I could live my life without all the outside influences and pick and choose my internet interfaces. I agree, I’m literally just starting to ease out of ketovore into carnivore. I’m starting to get really confused. I have educated myself and thought I knew what to do. Now today for the first time I just saw that Dr. Paul Saladino stopped 100% carnivore and is adding fruits. Honestly, when I heard that I could actually feel in my body some relief because I really would like to have a little bit of fruit. But honestly, I’m still confused as to what I will end up doing. I guess maybe this week I’ll still keep going keto carnivore until I can figure things out.

I desperately needed to hear this. I’m just starting carnivore and already fell off of the wagon because of feeling overwhelmed over all the stupid trends. I’ve watched videos telling me I should have 80% of my calories from fat, another said I should eat a stick of butter a day, eat eggs, don’t eat eggs, etc. Finally landed on a podcast with Dr Chafee and Dr Baker, who were both railing over the current trend to make things more difficult and it’s overwhelming people. They both agreed start with water and beef as a basic elimination diet, then see how it goes after you are feeling better. That made sense to me, and your post is a God send as well. Thank you so much😘

I face horrible inflammation issues. Carnivore has given me a life that is more free from pain than I have had had in over twenty years! I have beaten severe depression as a result of carnivore. It has not been a weight loss plan for me. I lost my weight doing keto and intermittent fasting. Excellent talk Laura. Thank you for addressing this issue. This carnivore community can be a very harsh place. We come here looking for encouragement on this journey, yet many times it's so discouraging because of the judgmental comments of the carnivore police that nitpick and shame us because they don't agree with our personal choices to add things that aren't strictly carnivore foods. And as you say it is so off-putting to some newbies who are searching for help and encouragement. And some people just give up because it's too hard to maintain and they feel guilty for any little diversion from the approved path. How sad that is. Thank you for all you do to encourage us with the real life stuff. Please stay with us, don't let the crabs spoil your joy.

Since we are talking about people curing things with carnivore diet- here is my story! So everyone knows I am 46, turn 47 soon- but look like I am in my early 30’s. I am now 122lbs and 5’7”. I have done a zero carb carnivore diet for almost 10 months now. Before I was saved by the carnivore diet I was 165lbs (weight would continue to creep up since I was 40 years old.) And I had so many other issues that are now cured. One was i had fibrocystic issues before carnivore. It built up over a six year period of western / SAD diet. Doctors said it was normal, nothing we can do. “Part of aging and now normal.” Nope! Then I tried the Mediterranean scam grain diet for 6 months- made things worse and even put me into peri menopause and many other issues like cysts that got to be quarter size round, so painful! Fibrocystic masses too were big! I was fed up and decided to go dig and dig to see if anything would reverse this! Found Dr. Baker, Dr. Berry, and Dr. Chaffee with carnivore diet! Then found out cruciferous veggies can ruin your thyroid and prevent natural absorption of iodine found in foods! I had eaten lean skinless chicken breast (a half of one maybe once a day), rices, and broccoli for 6 years- age 40-46 and daily! I want ladies to know they need to avoid cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, asparagus, and cauliflower to prevent fibrocystic breasts- but plants in general cause it! Your body needs iodine for your lady organs and all other organs, but especially your thyroid! They really mess up the thyroid which messes up your hormones and causes all other issues! One big domino affect! I ask people to go watch Dr. Chaffee with Dr. Sally Norton on plant toxins! Fibrocystic breast issues are now what doctors have settled as “normal!” I truly feel it is considered an auto immune issue / plant toxic illness of inflammation that can be reversed with carnivore! If you look the rates of fibrocystic illnesses is drastically increasing- including breast cancer- and it’s posted on line that nobody knows what causes those! They tell people not to eat saturated fats! I eat fatty meats of beef and eggs- and 8 months on carnivore no more cysts and i have only one smaller fibrocystic mass left that is super small- continues to shrink- not the large mass it once was- shrinking drastically on carnivore diet! Carnivore diet cured so much for me! * No more perimenopause- completely reversed! *Period cycles all timed perfect with 4 week intervals. And no PMS symptoms, but only the actual menstrual cycle itself! *No more night sweats *No more waking every 2 hours at night! *It used to take me 20 minutes or longer to fall asleep at night when I would first go to bed at night- before carnivore. Now it takes like a minute or less. Haven’t noticed since I am out fast! *No more life long eczema *No more cold hands *No more cold body temp in general! Used to feel like a reptile - only warm in texas sun. *No more IBS symptoms (gas, bloating, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea) *No more feeling low energy by 12pm and zombie by 4pm *No more purple looking hands in winter *No more brain fog *No more arthritis that I felt in hands, knees, and hips- or elbows *Lost 45+ pounds from former baby weight and peri menopause weight. *Always had 20/20 vision with slight stigmatism- but in March doctor said my stigmatism is reversing! *Don’t sunburn as easily anymore and tan well. *Wrinkles around eyes seem to be much less. I am 46 and look like I am in early 30’s. *Gums look super healthy. Dentist seems irritated as my teeth are not dirty when cleaning every six months. Think they know they won’t make money off me. *No more sore chest from monthly periods- no swelling feeling of fullness or discomfort that prevented me from sleeping on my stomach. Now I sleep every night on my stomach! *Fibrocystic Breast issues reversing! Almost all gone after 6 years of buildup! *no cravings unless they are for meat *no more angina symptoms before a period- which started about 3 years ago. *No more feeling weak like almost passing out and dizzy around ovulation and periods * no more fingers swelling- that started a few years ago- rings kept being tight- is pattern I noticed. One ring I had resized larger and it’s super loose now. Will have to resize smaller. *feel stronger- now lifting barbells not just hands weights. Dr. Baker said since I am 46, and 5’7” at 122lbs- need more resistance training to add more muscle weight. . So bought a 47lb barbell off Amazon and have 40 extra pounds added to it. Will continue to progress with that. * i had started growing grey hairs in one of my eyebrows, few hairs at a time, but no grey in my blonde hair yet - but assumed it was coming before Carnivore. Now on carnivore I have had no new grey hairs growing in eye brows and still no grey hair in my natural blonde hair. And in the sun it gets super light highlights. * no more body odor! * I used to get a little anxiety with large crowds- like if attending special events- but since on carnivore I don’t get it that much. *I was a bit OCD before carnivore, but so much more relaxed so barely like that. * I was a relaxed person before, but somehow am even more relaxed and never stress about things. *Since I was a young child my sense of smell has been terrible. But going on 10 months on carnivore my sense of smell has gone crazy! I smell things even far away! Amazing! *no more allergies! I was allergic to cedar and oak pollens- and mold- but since carnivore I am no longer reacting to those outdoor pollens which is amazing! If I think of anything else will add. ☺️👍🏻 I know when people go on carnivore they are trying to heal something, but if they aren’t like me and notice small things- they may not notice they are healing way more than they realized- things plant foods were causing! And they need to remember, processed foods are made from plants- but so are whole foods (raw or cooked!) they are all toxic! The carnivore diet cures! ☺️👌🏻 The body is a network made of multiple gears- and if one gets messed up it causes a whole domino affect of problems like I had! The carnivore lifestyle is not a fad, it’s the ancestral human way of eating! Go Carnivore for a few months and see how you feel! ☺️👍🏻

Couldn’t agree more. I can’t believe how much better I’m feeling after 5 weeks. Craving for Ciabatta and Sourdough Breads is still strong but with the pain gone from my heel and my knee pain lessening there is no way I’m reverting to my former eating. That little voice that says one slice won’t hurt you knows I am unable to stop at one slice and once more the dam will collapse. I try to think like I did when giving up smoking - it’s today I focus on. I can’t think about not feeding my addiction for years or I’ll give up. I won’t even weigh myself as whatever I’ve lost it will only be a fraction of the needed loss and so I’ll give ammunition to the head voice to tell me to give up as it’s too hard.

Sardines or tuna are full of omega 3 . Instead of a three day challenge I just eat one for lunch 3 times a week. I think it was Elizabeth Bright started the challenge. It can break a stall. But I am doing it for my eyes. Extreme dry eyes. I tried the fat challenge…. That lasted one day. Diarrhea. I think it’s a process. My diabetes is about gone. Dawn effect is slowly going lower and lower. I consider carnivore to be 95.% meat. So occasional tomato or avocado can jump in

This video is so appropriate. My son is the "Chris Cooking Nashville" channel on KZfaq and I see him get bashed once in a while by just a few people over the things you're describing. People just need to show a little grace, respect and helpfulness and let others figure out what is best for their situation and life without some restrictive titles. I try to stay close to Carnivore but do like onions, garlic and some spices to keep things interesting. If people want to say "you're not a carnivore" that's fine, but eating that way has helped me to lose 70 lbs, feel better and keeps me on track for my needs. Great video Laura. 😁😇👍

Yeeeeeeees! Amen, Laura!! This is why the word LIFESTYLE should be part of our daily vernacular. Our mindset is HEALING our bodies, in whatever way personally necessary, and not being "ON A DIET". Weight loss is a great benefit of this lifestyle, but being consistent and healing our bodies takes dedication and attention to why our bodies are sick in the first place. God bless you all. ❤

Try to explain this to my wife who can't seem to lose the last 20 lb eating this way. I tell her this isn't a diet as much as it is a way to heal and reset your hormones. The weight loss comes from those things being corrected IMHO

It is some along the lines of a thyroid issue, heavy metal toxicity, autoimmune, cancer, vitamin mineral deficiency, hormones, ..... meaning she needs testing to look deeper into the issue. When the car doesn't start, we don't guess, we connect to the computer and test. Human body very similar. We test and evaluate results. Then make decisions based on the testing.

English is not my 1st language and please correct me if I am wrong, but I feel like the problem may be the more modern use of the word 'diet' has strayed into meaning something other than it used to. The modern way of understanding the word, seems to be 'weight loss regime' or 'health improvement regime' and expects a 'trend name' to come in front of it. So we now feel like we need a new word that means something closer to what 'diet' used to mean in common language.

Thank you so much for this video and including the why are we not eating something. Neisha mentioned this in a video she did about how there are people in the carnivore community that will nit pick everything about someones else's carnivore journey, almost to seem superior. We eat carnivore cause it helps us heal and feel better who cares if someone else is eating something another does not in their opinion "meet the requirements of carnivore". It's one of those "you worry about what's on your plate not another person's" kind of things. BTW I totally credit you when I talk about my carnivore journey as someone who inspired me to go carnivore for my health.

Well she's chosen to be on social media so they're going to be a lot of people out there that are critical probably because of her husband being so carnivore/proper human diet. She's cute little bit too much of a drama queen for me to watch. But she does prove it everybody is human and everybody's different and this is not easy, especially people that choose to go full carnivore. Eating is such a complex issue on so many levels and we all have different metabolisms, health challenges, and addictive food behaviors; which certainly all come up when you're on a carnivore diet LOL.

Thank you! You are one of the very few people I follow about carnivore lifestyle . Our story is a little different, it’s not primarily about losing weight (that is a sideline benefit). My husband was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma, without any evidence of outside legions. After 2 years of immunotherapy, we began researching a way to fight cancer moving forward. Denying his body of sugar/carbs was the direction we chose to take. We are currently on a “treatment holiday “ as the doctor does not want to give us a false hope for the future. We choose to change their minds. The benefits we have experienced have been better than anything we have ever tried. I find I love being carnivore and cannot imagine going back to prior mistakes in lifestyles. I began carnivore in support of my husbands life. It’s been a very good journey and will be going forward.

We eat the carnivore foods that we enjoy when we feel hungry and until we're full. We've each lost over 50 lbs in our first 6 month of eating carnivore and have maintained this healthy way of eating since. One of the best benefits of carnivore for us is that we don't have to weight, measure, limit, etc! It's so incredibly freeing to get away from all of that and just eat and ENJOY your food! Thank you for this video! I am in week 1 of the carnivore diet. I just discovered the carnivore diet on like 6-29.. I watched a LOT of videos about it, and everything seemed like it was just making sense and I felt like i was getting so many possible answers to so many of my problems that I told my friend I was thinking about trying this, and she rattled off all the stuff we all grew up learning, and I would show her the videos and even looked up some sites, and one of them being from Harvard, she was questionable still but very supportive. So i started to try it on Saturday, thinking i would give it at least a week and see how it would go.. This week has been amazing! I've had so many changes happen this week that's been for the better including my blood sugar has been maintaining in the 70-80s all week and i forgot to take my ozempic last weekend! Almost ALL of the swelling and pain in my legs have gone away.. I still have new sores with my skin but it's different from before, this feels more like the toxins are leaving and that's how it's doing it, not sure but it makes sense, and I've lost 4 lbs since Monday! I'm feeling great! But yes, I was noticing through other channels how there seems to be so many "subsets" of this diet, it just all seemed so confusing. I'm not a numbers person, they just don't make sense to me, so all this counting this or counting that, it just won't work for me simply because i just don't have the brain for all that.. So i need the more simplified things, and so what you said just made things so much easier for me! I got enough things on my plate right now, I don't need to add anymore of these crazes to my plate to make it any harder!. P.S. This is the first time i've spoken to anyone outside of personal friends about going carnivore.. very much an introvert so talking a lot really isn't a strong set for me.. hope that's ok :)

I've lost 264 lbs on a keto diet with intermittent fasting/OMAD. I'm an old timer to low carb diets, starting with Adkins in the 70's. The newer keto and IF trends seem to keep adding and veering away from the basics. You are so right; the modifications make me crazy! I need to stick to the old school version of keto and IF to keep my weight down. But every new KZfaqr has a variation to the basic keto diet regime. It seems that no one wants to truly put in the work, so they make up exceptions to the basic rules. An example, NO SNACKING, PERIOD. But how many videos can you find of keto snacks? LOTS. I find myself going back to the original ketogenic diet foundations that started with Jason Fung, Butter Bob,, and others of ten plus years ago. "Back to basics" is always MY best move. I disregard most of the newer keto KZfaqrs. I just know that for ME, eating keto cheesecakes, dips and pork rinds, keto ice cream, and keto breads and muffins just stall me. You are so right that we must figure out what our body needs and disregard all the other "trends."

Good point, the whole keto snack industry is only here to take our money. They see that people want to get healthy so they capitalize on our health and lifestyle. We arent grazing animals, we do not need snacks to be full. For example: ill go back to my village sometimes, people eat meat, fish, wild game, vegetables, and even root plants, no grains are grown there. People work hard manual labor yet you do not see them being hungry and grazing on food 6 times a day. Most of the keto snacks has just enough carbs and sugar to keep us consuming.

Thanks Laura for your common sense. I have been carnivore for almost 4 years and in the past year have found myself pulled into these various carnivore fads. It can be overwhelming and I appreciate everything you said, it all made sense and has helped me to reset my thinking back to the basics of carnivore that I started with. Fatty meat has improved my health and I will get refocused. Thanks again, I needed to hear that. Jackie Starling

For me, I'm using these challenges to try to figure out a way to get my ketones higher. Eating a "normal" keto or carnivore diet doesn't produce many ketones for me. I struggle with iron deficiency with brain fog and I have found that the little bit higher ketone levels really help my brain work better and it's become important to me to find a way to have those higher levels more often. It's not about weight loss. I know that you do periodic fasts as resets. I would love to be able to fast to get my ketones up but unfortunately my body doesn't respond well and my ketones take forever to go up and I feel horrible. For me these challenges are a substitute for fasting. I understand that some people can't fast or do these challenges because of underlying eating disorder tendencies, but I don't think they should all just be thrown out as tools because some people aren't able to do them for the right reasons or don't happen need them at all. Everybody needs to choose what is best for their own body and mind. I do think your video offers a balanced view because you allow for people that do use the challenges for the intended reason... Just trying to calm down the insanity around them and doing them for the wrong reasons. I totally agree. ❤️

I’m really glad to see you said something about why you experiment with different things. I have chronic migraines and the higher my ketones the better my migraines are so I did try the sardine fast (I like sardines anyways 😆) and did find some improvement overall with my migraines since my ketones were increased. I think as long as people have the right mindset about WHY they are experimenting or trying something new it’s fine. I think it is different with people who suffer with disordered eating/ eating disorders or people just doing things for a quick weight loss “hack”. I saw Janet Greta made a video about this video and was kind of appalled because even though Now she states she has an ED, she has never apologized or taken responsibility for her content and or that she was a “keto coach” while eating 1200 calories. As KZfaq content creators people need to take more accountability for potential harm they could cause. And at the end of the day people need to know themselves and do there own research before jumping into anything. Just thank you for always explaining your content and WHY you do what you do.

My husband and I are starting this Carnivore journey Monday. He has psoriatic arthritis and I have pain in my hip and lower back. I am on no meds and we are both approaching 60. I try to eat organic and we are relatively healthy l but want to get my husband off the meds for his auto immune and live a healthy lifestyle as we are approaching mid life. LOL I've been researching and found your channel and showed my husband your results!! He was immediately on board!! We are both committed to 30 days but from what success stories I've seen, I definitely think it will be our new lifestyle. Thanks for your info and inspiration!!

I’m just 4 months into carnivore (after 7 years keto) and I’d suggest you make a list now of every health symptom you both have. Because a few weeks in you’ll start to realize stuff is reversing and you actually don’t even realize how many things have disappeared! I have chronic Lyme disease, CIRS, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, POTS, dysautonomia, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome……. I could go on for days. But I’m steadily improving and I pray you and your husband will also find healing and great success!!!

As a creator I feel the wave of angry people who believe one trend or once minute detail is the answer/quick fix for EVERYONE AT ALL TIMES and are happy to attack anything I do for not aligning with their view of it.
