Some good stuff happening this week! We decided it was time for drastic action, so we called in our friend Frank the Digger to help us get our digger down the hill. He did an amazing job! Also some planting as always, harvesting some brocolli and an update on what Maarten has been up to. All good things, before we take a break from KZfaq in the new year :)

New here? My name is Lea and I live with my partner Maarten, our toddler Puck and baby Bo on our land in Central Portugal. We left the rat race in the Netherlands in 2018 and moved south in our old campervan. Two years ago we bought land in Portugal that had been abandoned for several decades. After lots of hard work we now live in a beautiful yurt and keep ourselves busy growing our own vegetables as well as producing olive oil, wine and honey on a small scale. This channel documents all the different jobs we have to do, and sometimes some nice footage of this beautiful country we now call home.

Yea, the rainy weather does get us down- even here in Algarve we are getting some. The rainfall amounts g«here are much less than p north- reservoirs near Lagos are still below 30 percent of capacity. Most irritating is the cloudiness her- cloudy during the day and clear at night. But the temperatures are so warm!!!!!!! Above all- The landscape is finally green! And to hear water running all around......... Feliz ano novo.

What a wonderful video!!! The digger move was epic!! It was hard holding my breath and guffahing at the same time ;) And Maarten's workshop will be amazing!! Lovely update on the garden and greenhouse! Beau is trying so hard to help.... Reminds me of the early videos when Puck was small.... BUT, Lady - At the end you said "a couple of weeks'.... Earlier you had said all of January. I hope you are taking the whole month as break, and that the "couple of weeks" bit was a misspeak. You need it, you have earned it, you deserve it. Two week vacations are never long enough! At a month, you likely will be missing it and be ready to roll again. If you post in January, I not watch it! So there! [Well, I will probably watch that one in February, but don't tell Lea;) ]

I discovered your channel today and it’s amazing to see that they are so many English speaking people (not only from UK but USA, Australia, Netherlands and so on.... ) established in Portugal renovating old abandoned farm/building, growing food, try to live off grid. I love watching all these channels, progresses all of you are making, all the energy you are spending to make your dream come true. You all are brave and hard workers, bravo. All of you had bad times during the past winter with rain. And all of you seem to have spring in your properties. Do you know the Newbies ? I’m watching from Normandy🇫🇷 and by the way why don’t you “ like the French “? 😂😂😂😂 (People or the language ? ) you said it at Christmas diner!!! Tip: voor de natte ondergrond in naar de toekomst. Bouw een onderstel met (klein) tractor wielen (2 assen + pallet) om dat ding te verplaatsen. Veel makkelijker, kleine kans op ongelukken of breuken. En Goedkoop. Het concept van kasten verplaatsen. !!!!

Wow - huge persistence and ingenuity. I hope there was not much collateral damage to the transmission of the truck and Frank's excavator. Definitely good to have the digger under cover and close to tools. The new wheels and soon-to-be workshop are more good news. Remarkable to see veggies growing and flowers. There is about 30cm of snow on the ground where I live. Happy New Year! Enjoy the break.

Not something to spread about, but a trick I learned many years ago for help in starting engines, use something called easy start or if you can’t get hold of that use an aerosol deodorant and spray it in the air cleaner when turning it over. I’ve recently done on it on a petrol motor with a can of gas lighter fluid, which worked a treat. A cheap and convenient solution if it works for you. Good luck, let us know if it works. Love the channel. by the way, been watching since the start.

What a beautiful view ur going to have wow But I assume each child will have their own bedrooms? But since ur building from scratch I would definitely do 2 bathrooms.ur private n one for children and guest! You'll be glad in future.

@@lightdark00 It's normal here to have the toilet seperate? We'll build an outdoor composting toilet anyway. Now that we have a better idea of what area we can work with we'll make a design.

Once your onions flower, collect the seeds. I've grown some very nice onions from the seeds of my onion flowers. They seem to be stronger and grown better than ones not from my close area. They are acclimated to my soil, sun and weather and don't struggle with it the way store bought ones do.
