This is my brother. That red line is the world record pace.
That world record belongs to Adam Peaty. That line represents his average speed from his 100-meter breaststroke world record.
That time is so fast that he hasn’t even been able to break it for two years.
Let's see how my brother swimming breaststroke compares to Peaty's speed. My brother is faster than me in breaststroke. But we can’t do a single 25 at the average speed of Peaty’s world record.
Today I'll take a look at Peaty's breaststroke technique and see if I can beat my brother's time.
00:00 - World Record Pace
00:36 - Breaststroke technique before
01:12 - First man under 58 seconds
02:03 - Adam Peaty breaststroke technique
03:37 - Open turn tip

@@jakekd76 dont save any energies, do your first meters as fast as you can like your swimming a 50 and fight with whatever its left. Im 16 and my 50 meters is 29.5 but my 100 is 1:06. My point is the harder you trainning is the stronger your last 50 will be
@magicalplace3788
@magicalplace3788 2 жыл бұрын
In December, my best time for 50 breaststroke short course meters was 28.6, and I opened my 100 on 28.8 and went 1:02. Even though my last 50 was a few seconds slower, I barely felt tired at all in the last 25 because I used the underwater for my advantage. Also, the key to open fast and not die on the last 25 is to minimize the number of strokes for each 25 while maximizing the power of the strokes. This should help you get to open almost as fast as your best in 50 while "saving" your energy for the whole race. P.S: Sorry for my bad english and I know my times aren't that impressive but those are some of my goals that I've set for myelft for this season after watching and analyzing my races.

I'm sure you get this alot, but I've got to let you know. Your channel is by far the best swimming tutorial and swimming channel out there, and your videos really do help. At the beginning of my swim season last year I had a 1:23scy in breaststroke, I started to obsess over swimming KZfaq content and especially your channel and 5 months after that, in a single swim meet that was 3 weeks after a previous one, I had dropped 10 seconds from the meet before getting 1:12 which was impressive for myself at the time considering nobody expected it from me. After that I swam everyday during the summer analyzing swim videos and religiously watching your channel. That dedication that your channel inspired got me to a 1:04 breaststroke so far this season. So thank you very much for what you do, your making a huge difference in lives and in this world whether you know it or not.

I suggest spreading out your dolphin kick from your pull down in your underwater, that way you stay under for much longer and you can get that extra boost. Also, I know you've improved your technique since it's been a year, but if you haven't changed this part of your underwater I would as it helps a TON in the long run.

I am new to swimming since last Aug. i was using similar arm movements in breaststroke, theorizing a wider arm swim out would help my head raising above water. I have since narrowed my arm movement this year because head clearing is not difficult anymore (I have decent lower back flexibility).

as a freediver, and i read many scientific papers about the physics of swimming, underwater swimming is way more efficient than surface one, bc surface waves rob energy from you, while underwater you only have to deal with hydrodynamic drag, while on surface you have surface wave drag i noticed your glide phase is very short, i think to get fast you need to train reducing strokes 1st before going fast most people waste energy by doing unnecessary movements and learn bad technic to go fast learn good proper technic by swimming slow, reduce stroke numbers, then return to swim fast and you will notice the progress i started as a very slow surface swimmer and my breast stroke sucked and yeah, narrow arm stroke is vital to swim fast, the more power you can put in your arms during the hand stroke the more powerful the acceleration, the closer by hands get when i sweep under me, the more explosive my speed get when i practiced underwater swimming and reducing number of strokes for my anaerobic regime, after it, i had some bouts with some purely surface swimmers, and i destroyed them completely the recovery phase is slow and brake you completly, so reduce the number of recovery you do on one lap less recover, means more distance per leg stroke i also trained to swim underwater on leg stroke alone, and helped me reduce number of leg strokes i needed
@calebvanstelle4984
@calebvanstelle4984 2 жыл бұрын
I believe the shortening of the glide phase is intentional, because although it makes the stroke more exhausting and less efficient its faster. IMO the idea of sprinting breaststroke is a bit weird since the main advantage of the stroke is the endurance and not speed. I'm certain somebody would get horribly offended if I suggested that the olympics change breaststroke to have longer distance events than the others but I do feel that it makes more sense
@zazugee
@zazugee 2 жыл бұрын
@@calebvanstelle4984 I'm just giving a beginner advice, bc most people who just started swimming actually don't glide well or enough, and thus their swimming is less efficient, training for a while to do less is counter intuitive but as soon as they learn to swim efficiently they can later sprint better than before

If you look closely you can see peaty has significantly better shoulder flexibility than yourself/brother. This allows him greater efficiency in the glide phase as well as allowing him to achieve gliding position extremely quickly. Add dead hangs with shoulders as far out of the sockets as possible to you gym work for a few months and you’ll see significant increase in thoracic and scapula mobility. You want to be able to touch your head an inch above the top of your ears on both sides with your shoulder.
