The story for shuyin and lenne is lenne was a singer, but also a very strong summoner, shuyin was a blitz star. They were lovers but when zanarkand went to war with bevelle over religion/machina, lenne was called to join the war on the frontline. This enraged shuyin because it meant lenne would die and they would be forever seperated. To stop her from being killed he went to bevelle because of a secret forbidden weapon was held somewhere, he would use bevelles own secret weapon against them to save lenne. However as he was activating Vegnagun, some how lenne followed him to stop him from wiping out all the innocent people not taking part in the war. He shuts down vegnagun because she's there so he can just run away with her, however when he embraces her and they decide to run away and leave the fighting of the war. This is when bevilles military catches up with them and executes them as seen in the thunder plains cutscene. Lenne moves on because dying beside the one she loved was good enough, but shuyin not knowing she truly loved him like he loved her, refused to move on in death and came back to finish the job he originally started, for avenging lenne's death. Which is why at the end when lenne explains all this shuyin finally accepts that she's okay with how things played out because she finally got to be by his side even in death, and he should be okay with that too. It's a decent story not really told very well from in the game unless you do pretty much all of the optional content.

I don't think Auron is in Yuna's head here: the party are in the Farplane right now, which suggests anybody who's been Sent there can communicate with them. I always just had it figured that Braska, Auron, and Jecht were straight up shouting from the ether. I just love the way Jecht tells you to "put that crybaby to sleep!" once you come up against Shuyin.

In the battle there are actually the voices of Auron, Jekkt and Braska as far as i know. It's a little hard to hear, probably because you're usually most familiar with Auron's voice throughout the entirety of FFX, but the other two should be there too!

I never get tired of that image of Yuna grinning from ear to ear to the tune of "this is my story. It'll be a good one."

You can hear Auron(as well as Jecht and I believe Yuna’s father) during the finale because the location of Vegnagun is very closely tied to the Farplane.

If you're interested in understanding the story fully, you really need to do the side content. Using a walkthrough would probably help a lot too. I'm not saying it makes them great characters, but it really helps flesh out the story of Nooj, Baralai, Gippal, and Paine. It also allows you to see Shuyin's mad piano skills for 30 seconds.

I think a lot of the FFX-2 story was flubbed because of the english dub having Yuna say 'I love you' to Tidus at the end of FFX, when it ended up being a massive plot point in FFX-2 that she hasn't said it yet. FFX was partly about Tidus needing to tell Jecht 'I hate you' to get closure, so X-2 is about Yuna needing to tell Tidus 'I love you' to get closure.

I'd like to see not only a prequel or a sequel, but probably both. I imagine the Sin vs Braska's Final Aeon would be some cinematic kaiju battle.

28:45 so the story is that Shuyin is Lenne's lover, and Lenne is some kind of a powerful songstress that being brought to go to the big war between Zanarkand and Bevelle (i think it's called Machina War, which happened 1000 years ago). Shuyin was so heartbroken because Bevelle doesn't do a good job of protecting Lenne and she ended up dying in the battlefield, so he wants to take revenge and destroy Bevelle/Spira from the feeling of heartbroken.. Lenne, however, doesn't want him to do that, and she ask Yuna for help to go after him and send him the message.. Yuna suceeded, Lenne managed to meet Shuyin at the end, and we stopped Shuyin from destroying the world, the end!! I think we get told this story by the old man who you keep on skipping in the previous video lmao, but i don't blame you since it really was so boring bc he talks so slowly and it makes me SOO sleepy.. . . EDIT: 33:40 I also heard a theory that the Fayth took Shuyin's physical form to make Tidus appereance in Dream Zanarkand, that's why Tidus and Shuyin looks so much alike to the point where Yuna mistook Shuyin as Tidus. But idk why Yuna is similar to Lenne, i guess it's just a coincidence.

Jecht, Auron, and Braska can all talk to you in that fight. It's presumably because you're so deep into the Farplane that the dead can say hi.

I always thought shuyin and tidus was "kinda" the same person, Tidus is just a dream right, and he was based on Shuyin, modeled after him so to say since the fayth just dreamt of zanarkand and the people there.

I used to be confused until I decided to try a 100% run and now I understand the story perfectly. They shouldn't have hidden so much context in the smaller details but the full tapestry effect is an interesting way of going about it.

I'd want a X-3, after hearing the audio drama and reading about the crazy novella i really wanna see how theyre gonna make that into a coherent story. A prequel with the boys would be cool too but i already know how that ends, id rather have a X remake where all the jecht spheres are playable sections of the game. Any new X content is a blessing though, i miss spira so much and it was great watching you play!

Tbh the thing I love most about this game is the canon ending where Tidus comes back. That scene makes everything else worth it and it kinda sucks you have to do certain things or you don’t even see it and know he’s back. This game is weird combo of things but I did have fun with it. And the whole story does make more sense if you do a higher percent complete run. More on Paine too. I never like when games leave too much that can be missed like this.

I can't wait for the release of FF -2X, so I can buy its NFTs!

I would play the hell out of a Jecht Braska Auron prequel game. Knowing what we know now, they could add in all kinds of subtle hints of corruption and junk while still probably managing to be a stand alone game. I would LOVE that!

Vegnagun isn't actually a Mcguffin he's one of the weapons mentioned during the moonflow ride during the first game by Lulu that "summoned" Sin. Spira was on the verge of WMD's like Vegnagun destroying the world in the war before Sin came and wiped most of the humans out and burying the technology in ruins more or less forcing a scientific and cultural reset for the world. Also the reason Yuna can hear Auron, Jecht, and Braska (yes all three say something at one point but Auron is the most prevalent while Braska the least), is because you're in the Farplane which is where their spirits reside/rest. I think it's not tooooooo out there for Yuna to be empowered by the disembodied voices of her predecessors as she saves Spira again as they did 22 year ago. This game is somewhat similar to ff12 in that is has a CRAP ton of missable side content but unlike 12, all the story and lore is in that content. I totally get why you didn't do it for this challenge as some of it might have been downright impossible but a lotta the stuff you said didn't make sense or had no depth had the depth there.

I feel like Vegnadic... Vegnagun's gun needs a censor bar. Its erected shaft penetrates the farplane at magnum sizes, and it's gonna explode soon if you don't kill it.

The final battle takes place in the farplane, the place that is supposed to be where the dead reside, that's why the aeons came back, shuyin ruled them up, and that's why you hear the voices of Jecht, Auron and Braska ( it's hard to tell because you don't often hear Braska in 10 and the affect they have going, but it is all 3 of them), because you are literally in the land of the dead, do you pay attention?

I really enjoyed this series from you. I think i was in the 6th grade when i played this game and i have so many fond memories. (Even if the story is a bit ridiculous at times).

When I heard they were making an X-2, for some reason I was convinced it was going to be the prequel with Braska, Auron and Jecht. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when instead we got YRP and their magical dress-up box. Eventually I learned to appreciate the combat system which is actually quite interesting and in many cases necessary to do the challenging optional bits of the game, but I would still play the crap out of an FFX X-0, even with just a summoner, a samurai and a sword/board fighter to play with. Even knowing how the story eventually ends. We know how FFX ends after all, and yet we keep playing it... Thanks for doing this challenge. There is of course a lot more to the game and the story, but one of the obvious flaws of the game is how much of that is optional and therefore easy to miss. Also I can't imagine trying to get through the lower levels of the Via Infinito, the Den of Woe, or Angra Mainyu with those three builds and still retain your sanity. So well done.

What is funny is that white mage is made completely obsolete by the existence of Alchemist.

Against the machine boss that sealed the abilities, that's due to the fact that through the game these little spy bots you destroyed watched your fight and scanned the ability you used before killing them. Let's say you use Cure while one of the bots are alive, that data is trasmitted when it's destroyed and you won't be able to cast cure in that battle. To prevent this you need to attack physically the bots asap without using abilities and only use those once all the bots are dead, that way you start the fight with everything available.

So 99% of your story complaints in this which I'm not sure if you're being facetious or genuine, but the meat of the entire story is in the side content of the game. Like over two thirds of the plot is hidden away in optional content which is just a really shitty way to handle story in a game but this game you can 100% tell was made to sell the strategy guide. I hope you do eventually give the full story a try because literally everything except why LeBlanc looks identical to Yuna in the intro has some level of explanation.

About Final Fantasy X-3, I am not sure. Final Fantasy X/X-2 are my favorite JRPGs so I would want something. So far, I see two options... - Prequel like you mentioned, the main problem is we already know how it turns out so there wouldn't be many surprises. - Sin could come back or there could be another "big bad guy" to play as the same character from FFX characters. This is probably the one I prefer, not sure how satisfying it will be though. Really, I just want another turn based / ATB Final Fantasy game though with amazing graphics. Personally, I just hate what they have become from a gameplay standpoint. Final Fantasy 10 just had such fun gameplay for me and beautiful cinematics with a great story. Yes, there are some great turn-based games like Octopath, Bravely Default, Persona but nothing has even close to the quality of Final Fantasy 10 to me. Kind of sad that FF10/FF10-2 is still one of the highest quality graphics for a turn based JRPG. Yes there are definitely a few turn based games that are better but the game came out in 2001... I really enjoyed the FFX and FFX-2 videos.

The reason why Shyuin looks like Tidus is because Tidus was designed in lore to be Shuyin's replacement. In the deeper lore of FFX, 1000 years ago there was a war between Zanarkand and Bevelle and Zanarkand was losing big time. Yu Yevon, a powerful summoner, saw this loss coming and made a plan to preserve Zanarkand by performing 2 massive summons ontop of Mt. Gagazett. One summon being an entire replica city of Zanarkand with hundreds of thousands of replicated people living in it. This is the Dream Zanarkand that Tidus is from. The other summon being Sin who Yevon himself lives inside and it protects this replicated Zanarkand and commits mass murder. Tidus is a somewhat simulated reincarnation of Shuyin. Reason he's not named Shuyin or acts like him or doesn't have a girlfriend like Lenne is because realistically making replica's of almost a million people isn't easy so a lot of people aren't gonna be exactly who they're suppose to be. Tidus is just based off Shuyin in looks and occupation and designed to live a somewhat similar life. This is why when you kill Yu Yevon at the end, Tidus disappears. Because he's one of Yu Yevon's summons so the replica Zanarkand and all it's people, Tidus included, basically all died with him. Why Tidus came back in the complete ending of FFX-2 is because he was basically summoned back by the fayth who personally asked Yuna if she wanted to see him again. There's more to it kinda but that's the basic gist of why Tidus himself exists and looks like Shuyin.
