You are absolutely right, the body requires resistance whether it is from an elastic band or weight, it does not care, find the exercises you find most suitable and start from there. I have trained my Triceps only with elastics and they have become huge and I am over 40 years old, so no excuse and yes you have to train harder and longer with the elastic in relation to weights, but the way there with the elastic is just easier and more fun for me . I only train with the elastic and will never train with weights again.

Weight x Reps x Duration x Sets = Results You are a very good teacher. Thank you.
@GamerBody

I've been testing HIT (high intensity training) with some decent results and way less workout time. This focuses more on fatigue of the muscle over weights, reps and sets. You have a rep range you try to stay in but have a high enough intensity to reach momentary muscle failure. This way you recruit all the muscle fibers and take the to exhaustion. Then you need a longer period to recover before training again. Also, I slowed down the rep speed to a 6 second rep so my 2 set can last 30-90 seconds. As you work a weight up to getting closer to 90 seconds, that is more direct work on the muscle in one set over most individuals 3 sets. I only count max reps so that my workouts don't take forever. I pick a weight where I will fail in the rep range and progress that weight within it until I max the reps for the range, add more resistance and continue with progressive overload from there. This is a long reply, but try it out :)

I had I sell my garage gym after selling my house and for now am living in someone else’s house and they don’t want the equipment around and they also don’t want me hanging pull-up bars on doorframes. So my setup right now includes Undersun bands along with BaseBlocks BaseBar Pro (which is a bar that adjusts and folds up for easy storage) and cheap spinlock 50 pound yes4all dumbells. When I’m done working out it goes in the closet and you’d never know.

I’m putting the theory to practice. No doubt bands work if you know how to use them. So many advantages it’s ridiculous. Old tech for modern times. You get what you put in. When you use them, get after it, work hard. The results are proof itself.

Thanks bro good video so is it possible to define your muscles with resistance bands ? And how can you do that ?
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 2 жыл бұрын
Define your muscles? I think what you mean is building muscle then having it show. The only way to so this is to build muscle with the resistance bands, then burn enough body fat to have them display. Only way to lose body fat is to be in a calorie deficit. So, build muscle with the bands, and be in a calorie deficit to lose body fat.

This is s very very good video! I only use resistance bands, both loop and tube bands. Interesting with the example of biceps curl, what if you use enough resistance so you peak around 90 degrees? I have changed back to tube bands with door stopper for biceps curls so its quite easy to take a small step away from the door
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 2 жыл бұрын
They will work as long as you apply enough resistance and progress it over time. I wouldn't stop at 90 degrees though, keep going to the top range of motion to make sure all muscle fibers are being activated.

Some out there seem to say that the way bands work with the strength curve makes bands super effective and some say the opposite it true. I really don't know, but I'm experimenting with making the three 3rds of the movement like drop sets or super sets. So I come to failure in the three zones. One of the few gems from Dr J. between all the hype and big claims I think. The proof is in the pudding though the results.

I think as long as you work hard enough to produce the stimulus to adapt, then recover and eat properly you will grow regardless of what is most efficient. So pick what you like best, can afford, or just want to use haha.

Pro tip for strength curve, just shorten the bands a bit.
@GamerBody
@GamerBody Жыл бұрын
This doesn't fix the strength curve to match the resistance curve of resistance bands because they the resistance is variable in a linear sense. The more the band is stretched, the more resistance. However, your muscles don't follow this (in most cases). All shortening the bands would do is make it harder, but doesn't change how the variable resistance is applied throughout the exercise.
@_FLAK_
@_FLAK_ Жыл бұрын
@@GamerBody Of course it does not change the curve. Its what I do when I want more challenge the weakest part of a rep. However, I also find the variable resistance to be a benefit as it reduces chance of injury.

As bang for your buck, resistance bands are hard to beat. The variable resistance is a double edged sword, and you're not going to become a powerlifter no matter how many banded squats you do. But for something you can put in your backpack, or into a suitcase, they are a lot more versatile than any other home gym/travel solution I have seen. Usually, the more specialised the equipment, the less useful it is, and you can't get much less specialised than pack of large rubber bands. Can they replace a gym membership in terms of total function? No, not really. Can they replace a gym membership for all practical purposes for 90% of users? Yes! And all for 50 bucks I have also noted less injuries/shorter recovery periods when training with bands than real weight. This is a plus. Although on the flip side they really struggle to recreate the feeling of moving a large amount of weight. The idea that your muscles don't know the difference is fair enough, but your brain certainly does. That would be an interesting topic - how does the variable resistance of a set of bands translate against real weight on a bar, and what neuromuscular benefits are you not seeing by swapping out "real" weight with "artificial" weight achieved with the resistance in a band. To what extent can you increase your 1RM of a real weight, with a training program based on bands? Something like an Overhead Press would be an interesting movement to test this on. Good content as per.

You have no clue what you are talking about. Anything weights & machines can do, resistance bands can do. Period.
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 2 жыл бұрын
I can't speak from a powerlifting standpoint as that is very skill based, but for muscle building they can certainly work. The main issue I have is that the most resistance is at the top range of motion where you are normally weaker and have the bunching of actin/myosin. Should that be overloaded with the most resistance? That's probably my greatest concern with the bands. Machines that change the resistance as you do the lift are actually the best way to avoid this, but the gym, or home equipment you use needs to be programmed for it. Nearly all free weights don't match the proper strength curves, but can still build muscle. I'd say I don't focus on powerlifting or 1 rep max on this channel as the average person shouldn't care about it. I'm excited to see the technology catching up. The V-Form and Tonal can automatically change the resistance as mentioned above, I just wish they were not $2000+ to buy. I am speaking with V-Form right now to see what they can offer for the channel since I can't afford it directly. If an agreement can be made I will test it out. It is essentially my resistance bands setup but the resistance changes as you go through the range of motion matching the strength curves perfectly (well if all goes as planned in testing).
@mrtomjayne
@mrtomjayne 2 жыл бұрын
@@GamerBody Really interesting, thanks for responding. I had not seen the V-Form or Tonal machines before. Hope you manage to get your hands on one. They remind me of what Peloton is to home based exercise bikes - more technology than you really need, and 5 times more expensive then you need to spend. But by pricing so high, people get attached to the exclusivity of the brand if you can get the marketing right. Now I know several people who would never have bought an "exercise bike" but own a Peloton and use it all the time. Totally agree, the channel is not about powerlifting and all about making sensible investments in home based gym equipment. I confess - I've copied your full set up for resistance bands and seen great results that I'm really happy with for what is overall a tiny investment. And that's what it's all about!
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree the high priced items like Tonal and V-Form are comparable to Pelaton. I also know someone who bought the Pelaton bike and love it. Hey if it gets them doing something, I guess the price is worth it as health is so important. It would be cool to get some of those items tested, but it will be outside the majority of people budgets unfortunately :/

Of course you can grow big muscles with resistance bands. You just need to have the genetics and do everything else right (or a majority of the time). Resistance bands are just a tool to provide tension against the muscle. As long as the stimulus is great enough on the muscle, it will force your body to adapt and grow. You just have to make sure you provide enough calories and protein to build muscle, and enough recovery time for the muscle to grow before working it again.
