Uhh yeah ! Absolutely. Been daily driving mine with stage 3 tcu. Full bolt ons and I can get amazing fuel economy. Better than factory as its tuned professionally!

@@Ave.J. The one that the IE stage 3 software is for, the Garrett GT2260s, or what they call the powermax stage 1. Was IE stage 2 for a few years and once IE came out with their stage 3 with that turbo, I jumped on it with the IE inter cooler and AutoTech HPFP. Bolt on like factory, tune and go!

I run NGK 91006.. which are basically stock+. Because I change them so much & because i’m not always romping on it. I don’t necessarily think I need a super cold plug. But do NOT get RS7 plugs.

I've been daily driving an IE stage 2 golf r for the past 2.5 years. And they aren't cheap. I could build an LS for the price of my exhaust system. Constantly burning oil and too many electrical problems. Over 10k in mods for a total of 450hp. An LS could reach 750hp for 5k everything in

After doing spark plugs on a 340i & basic service on a new WRX. I still believe that modern VW’s are easier to work on, than other “import” modern vehicles. Could just be me tho! (I also have only worked on Subis and BMW)

@@NewEnglandPete im talking specifically about the carbon cleaning and water pump replacement. It was a pain in the ass for me but i was also new to the platform i guess. As a subaru guy the torx bits and triple sqauares is alsp just foreign territory haha

For your IE intake, did you ever install the check valve inside of the IE coolant hose? Any issues with coolant levels?

I have IE intake, never installed a check valve in mine, so far so good, haven’t had any coolant loss at all, the routing is actually much better than stock and the clamps are better imo. Intake sounds insane too

no reason to change coil packs until you start seeing codes in also don’t understand the premise that a turbo failure on a gasoline engine with “take out the motor” unless you are talking about continuous use after turbo failure. Can you clarify what your saying?

Are you still running the rs7 plugs? I’m getting the ie downpipe installed Monday and going stage 2, the shop I’m using recommended the rs7 plugs but I’m a bit paranoid after reading they’ve grenaded a few engines

Definitely never go with RS7 plugs, those toasted my GTI… so did lack of changing overall. But you are safe with the NGK 4654-9 @ .026. I personally run NGK 91006 @ .026 myself.

@@NewEnglandPete i had a chat with a local vw/audi performance shop today and their main tech said they've used the rs7 plugs on countless EA888 cars and have never had an issue, he said he's seen one gti that had the engine blow as a result of a piece of porcelain breaking off and getting pulled into engine, but he said the customer had bought the plugs online and provided them. still weary after reading the few horror stories though 😄

I recommend keeping the OEM plugs as they will be slightly less efficient due to heat soak but you will have the peace of mind knowing you are virtually safe from this kind of failure.

Definitely not inexpensive car to own, maybe compared to like a bmw or a hellcat or something but compared to an economy model like an alltrack S or TSI golf it’s absurdly expensive.

10k for spark plugs lol. no man. if u are changing plugs every 10k your tune is shot. spark plugs should last 30,000km minimum.

"Should last" Trust but verify. This stuff isn't rocket science, you don't need a mass spectrometer or x-ray scanner to figure out if your plugs are still kicking.

@@ronnieronnie8549You sure can. No need for a “big turbo”. The word gets tossed around, but you don’t need a big turbo for 500whp, even relatively speaking. You can do it with a hybrid k04, but you’re better off with a diff turbo like a small efr for example. You can make 400-450whp easily and have even better spool than stock

You'd probably have to go hybrid turbo (same housing, different guts) to make that, but don't forget to swap out the _OTHER STUFF_ that supports the power (clutches, cooling, mounts, brakes). OEM setup supports OEM operating conditions, pretty much on 100% duty cycle. Start asking for more power, you get more heat, and pretty soon you're taxing the cooling system. Consider better radiator, intercooler, supplemental oil cooler, and so on. More power = more heat = increase your cooling. One thing to blast off a couple times a week for a few seconds. Another thing to hold the go-pedal down for a few minutes at a time.

@@thebigbosss1000 it won’t really cost you extra to go stage 1 first if you’re tuning with IE, you might save on labour though if you do stage 2 right away and have all the parts installed at the same time (intake/inlet and downpipe, intercooler if you want) but as far as the actual tuning, you only pay the difference in price when going from stage 1 to stage 2. I’ve been stage 1 for a week, and I purchased the stage 2 upgrade and it was $100usd because that’s the price difference between stage 1 and 2

@@thebigbosss1000 right now i've got the IE intake, turbo inlet and stage 1 ecu/tcu tunes. i've had to intake and turbo inlet on the car for about a year and a half, and just got the stage 1 tune last week, but it's a night and day difference and 100% worth it imo. the car also makes more sound, and there's an addicting turbo flutter when letting off around 3-4k rpm. i'm getting the IE downpipe installed on Monday and doing the stage 2 crackle tune and can't wait 😄

Stage 2? Would your grandmother know the car is stage 2 if she wanted to pop down to the shop for groceries? No? Then what's the big deal? It would drive exactly the same under normal use. You simply get a lot more head room when you ask for it.
