A Realistic Homeschool Day in the Life: • Real & honest homescho...
We all have them! They just present themselves in different ways for all of us. Strengths and weaknesses. It's easy to focus on what we're doing "wrong" and not pay close enough attention on what we're getting right. It's also very easy to look at someone else and think we don't match up. Many times people on instagram or youtube will make it seem like their life, marriage, family, homeschool, or whatever else they're sharing are flawless and while we KNOW this isn't true, it can be hard to overlook all of that when all that is shown is the shiny, the fascinating and the polished. I try to be transparent here, and while I don't share every detail of my life, I do want to offer a true look at some things that I have gotten right (or am starting to), and some areas that I'm still working on and need improvement. None of us will ever be the exact version of what we would like to be, but we can always give those areas to God and be refined through Him.

She is so cute!! I also alway wish I had more patience. And I know my dad felt the same way when I was growing up. But what I really remember is how he was so good at apoligizing! It really made an impact for good on me.

Thanks Lisa! And I’m so glad you had that from your dad and it was a benefit to you. It’s comforting to know that!

You are the most relatable homeschooling KZfaqr out there. I subscribe to several but i always feel the need to drop what I’m doing to watch your videos. Thanks for being so authentic and humble! I’m a fellow girl mom only as well, with girls similar ages so it’s a joy to see how you are raising them!

Another great video! I can totally relate. I read a book on large family management that was helpful. A tip I learned was to put our appliances to work for us first thing in the morning. They are our modern day maids. After my morning routine the first thing I do is get a load of laundry running each week day. Try to get the dishes going in the dishwasher and a meal into the slow cooker. I do that while the girls are doing their independent subjects. I find that makes cooking and doing laundry a lot less overwhelming. I still have to do a few extra loads on the weekend but that's manageable. I check their schoolwork on Fridays. I struggle with time management because I'm overcommitted, too many irons on the fire to be able to get places on time consistently.

Yes definitely try to get my stuff going in the morning since that’s when I’m most energized! I think trying to do too many things in the morning might be my downfall 😬 And totally agree with the irons in the fire! But realizing it is a step in the right direction I think.

So much to relate to here - good and less good 😂 To give myself that extra 30 minutes before we need to be somewhere, I can’t stick around for your last point right now 😅 The only things we don’t have in common is that I am pretty fanatical about grading right as they do things or within an hour or two and only rarely make it where I need to wake up early to finish the previous day’s grading, that and the fact that you have GORGEOUS hair! I’d trade you! Ha.

@@thepracticalhomeschooler they have a decent amount of independent work so I just am sitting there at the table with them and steal every moment I can between my parts to check things. I have the teacher manuals stored right next to me so that I don’t have to get up to get them, ha. I just don’t have any time in the evenings between sports and church and dinner and exhaustion. :)
