Yesterday I had a day where I really wasn't hungry for about 24 hours. I think my body was trying to fight something off and needed me to lay off digestion. I only had a bowl of high quality, locally made organic granola with raw milk. At the appointment the pee test showed that my body was spilling nitrates which had the midwife concerned. But here is the deal- I'm overweight. If I'm not hungry, I truly believe my body is doing what it should and the extra fat I'm carrying will go to baby. It's a myth that an overweight woman needs to gain while pregnant. To make the midwife happy I would have had to eat three times when not even hungry. I agree with your video.

So glad you enjoyed the video- and congrats on the pregnancy! Honestly, it's sometimes a sticky situation. For me, the biggest thing about fasting (at any time but especially during pregnancy) is to make sure protein & fat intake is relatively high so that my body can continue to build, keep my immune system going and + keep babe healthy all around. And you're right, the more overweight you are the less you "need" to gain (I think recommendations are something like 20-25lbs for underweight, 15-20lbs for average weight, and 10lbs for overweight?). I believe the cause of nitrates when preggo is mostly bacterial based but not 100% on that. The best thing you can do is check in with your medical/midwife team and do your best. I long ago learned that your body will truthfully do whatever the hell it wants during pregnancy haha so often I think you just need to roll with it and as long as baby is gaining you're good. How far along are you?

Your NOT a doctor and should follow your doctor your own judgment got your overweight so don’t try and fast during a pregnancy and ignore your caregiver. It’s not really about food it’s the nutrients so if you fast and get those nutrients in that’s a different story . You overate into fat not into health .

Your baby needs nutrients which it gets from you and you'll be the one that's deficient. A lot of women barely eat during pregnancy because they feel so sick. Also we don't get all our nutrients from food anymore. We can supplement.

Your baby does need nutrients and I specifically mention that when I chat about how you need to still ingest a proper amount of calories. In regards to being sick, every pregnancy is different that way. This video is for people who feel up to and are curious about fasting.

I agree with supplements but heart rate goes down when mom doesn’t eat for baby I know this due to science so idk about that … unless you have a degree with took years of study and experience your little KZfaq search and google doesn’t qualify.

Hey momma 👋🏿! I really enjoyed this video! I just found out I’m pregnant with my 4th, and I was in the middle of my weight loss journey using intermittent and OMAD and lost almost 60 lbs. so far. I make motherhood content as well as a doula, and my weight loss updates, and I just wasn’t sure if I should continue eating this way. This was very helpful for me🤗! Thanks for sharing ❤️! Subscribed also momma🥰!

Eeek baby number four?! SO happy for you! Congrats on the weight loss too, that's a huge number and a lot of work *high fives**. Definitely chat with your doc regarding eating, personally I think OMAD would be tricky calorie-wise but in my opinion, and what worked for me way still using IF as long as I was getting in adequate calories from the time you are eating. Babes still need nutrients and to grow obviously. But IF for me helps in so many other ways (digestion/energy etc) that I freaking love it lol

@@fitasamamabear Thank you so much🤗❤️! I’m super nervous because it’s such a big change in mindset, but of course I want to do what’s best for the baby’s health🙏🏿. I definitely will bring it up at my prenatal appointment. Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts on intermittent fasting while pregnant also😄!

@@ShadesofSage It's a crazy big mindset swap! Pregnancy is a whole other THING. The important thing to remember (that helped me) is that for this stage the GOAL is growth and nourishment (I actually gain a lot of muscle while pregnant which is awesome). There is ALWAYS time to get fit. Good luck!

Exactly! We naturally fast overnight anyways it just depends on how long you go for and much of that is being in tune with your body as well as ensuring you get adequate calories and nutrients throughout the day.

Ive been on intermittent fasting and I’ve never eaten breakfast. I just drink coffee in the morning. I still don’t feel like I am pregnant at all since I’ve been experiencing no symptoms and because I didn’t know I was for at least a month I’ve been continuing to do it. 😆 Is it ok to have a later breakfast at least? I just can’t do food in the morning.

Hey, don't complain if you get no major preggo symptoms haha! How far along are you? And congrats!! I think you should consult with a doctor (disclosure lol) but personally, in my experience, it didn't matter the TIME I ate so long as I was getting enough calories throughout the day to grow a babe/ be healthy. If you can't stomach food in the am, I'd listen to that and just eat when it feels right. Just keep in mind of course the goal of pregnancy is to nourish, grow, and gain ❤️

@@fitasamamabear I will be at 18 weeks (as of this Friday). I usually never eat past 9:30 at the latest. I do eat healthy granola with fresh fruit yogurt once I do eat in the late morning but it normally goes to about 13/14 hours. Once I eat though I’m on 😆 and I just listen to my body. At my appointments they have said baby is totally great and even my weight is exactly where it needs to be. I really wonder if intermittent fasting has actually helped with that since I was doing it for so long before.

@@kellehardy9752 Ahh amazing! So happy the babe is growing well! Honestly, my belief is that it has/does helped. I didn't fast as strict with my first two and I found my third to be better in terms of energy, my own weight gain etc. So long as babe is growing healthy, you're feeling good (well as good as you can being pregnanct haha) I think it's a mega win.

Mega congrats on the weight loss, that's a lot of hard work! When it comes to pregnancy it's honestly something you should chat to your doctor about. Fasting worked for me while pregnant because I still took in adequate calories outside of my fasting times. It also varied a bit in duration (some days shorter, some longer) depending on how I was feeling. The goal when pregnant is never weight loss related so it's always a good idea to just check in and chat with the doc in charge.

But if you want to maintain weight in pregnancy then what to do
@fitasamamabear
@fitasamamabear 2 жыл бұрын
Maintaining a healthy weight during pregnancy can be done a variety of ways and is different for everyone so it's hard to comment on that. Fasting is 100% NOT necessary to maintain healthy weight. Focus on protein-rich foods, quality fats and nourishment versus empty calories :)

Thank you 😊. Just on Monday of this week we found out I am in fact pregnant. It’ early, but so far the fasting feels great. I have made sure to take my vitamins and have been trying to eat healthy. So far my body is letting me get about 17 hours fasting because I’m used to those hours, but if that changes I’ll listen to my body and eat. I just want chicken, apples, and salt 😂.

@@gigglesforter7163 Ahh mega congrats!! Ok so excited for you! Play it by ear, and definitely chat to your doc. For me personally I found that as long as I was keeping calories high enough during the day it worked. It changes a bit come third trimester too when you can’t eat as big of meals because your tummy doesn’t have room lol

Right now, just found out that I am pregnant by PT and it is positive I have been doing low carbs and intermittent for almost 6 mos and do 24hrs fasting. Do I need to be worried about it because I'm doing the fasting and can affect the early development of my baby? Probably 5 weeks pregnant now. Thanks
@fitasamamabear
@fitasamamabear 2 жыл бұрын
OMG CONGRATS!!! That's so exciting for you! Personally, I would advise against twenty-four-hour fasts while preggo. Remember, the goal is to GAIN weight (for you and the babe). You do need a lot of nutrients for proper fetal development. I'd be open and chat to your doctor to get their opinion. As I mentioned, I had a really great experience working with my body/how I was feeling and rocking 12-15 ish hour fasts (again not a medical professional!) but my gut instinct says that 24 hours is too much for the baby. I'd scale back.
