Can You "Wake Up" Your Loved One From Watchtower Indoctrination?

Hi there,
Just June here...
In this video, Jared and I talk about our waking up story in greater detail, specifically, me not being ready to be "awake" when the rest of my family was. They decided to be open and honest and tell me that they no longer wanted to go to meetings or be JWs! They also told me they would love and support me as I continued, on my own, with my service to Jehovah... and they really meant it!
Eventually, I did "wake up" but did THEY do it? or was I just READY? We discuss all the ins and outs of this complicated topic and hope to give you some insight on what to do, and more importantly, what NOT to do with a loved one you are hoping will "wake up" from Watchtower indoctricroction.
and as always... remember, be Yourself and be well! 💗

Love your story, love your honesty, love how your family LOVED you into seeing what freedom looked like, and it was NOT what the society had predicted.

Thank you so much! I am trying to help a co worker that I love to wake up or at least to question what he has been taught on some things. What I am gleaning from the video is not to tell them to go to KZfaq! So I am going to continue to be loving to him. To let him know that people on the outside can be loving too. Love you guys ❤

Hello from London, you covered all the reasons that caused me to wake up .Almost in the order that I experienced them.Brilliant video. But now the W/T have affirmed how much the organisation and I differ..If I had been on the Titanic I would not have taken hitting the iceberg was a sign to redecorate. Best wishes.

So happy that you stayed together as the beautiful family you are. When I tried to help my family and friends, I jumped on them with all the facts I had and I missed it... Congratulations!

I'd love to hear more from your son. He was funny when you interviewed him. Another good video. We should also remember we all once defended the WT as vigorously as the current JW's are. We were once like that. Be gentle and kind with them.

I love what you are doing. You relate what you went through and how you strategized to inject small pieces of the puzzle in a calm manner, were supportive and patient. My wife woke me up ln the way. I'm happy to say our immediate family are out. Thank you for your stories and your journey. ❤

Fabulous share I made all the mistakes of bombarding my kids they just dug in their heels and shut me out of their lives. Going back I have learnt to not be so vocal about what I know, I just say I wonder why 🤔 or not sure I understand that eg overlapping Gen, when no scripture or reason used, just blind obedience. I’m seen as spiritually weak anyway lol. It’s cool when they can’t answer just blank as it has left a question. Love you guys 🫶🏼✌🏼

I’m 70 now and ‘awake’ but have almost spent my whole life in and out of this cult. I have a very long story to tell. What put me off most of all were their misinformed doctrines such as the 607 and the overlapping, their once supporting the United Nations and of course the shunning. My eldest son and family are JW’s and they’re very involved but they refuse to let me see their two teenage children. They’re so cruel but I know they see me as a hater of Jehovah. Their ‘new light’ is rediculous but is a big wake up call! I live in the UK and would be happy to talk to you.

Thank you for your story of escape! It means a lot plus so helpful. My sibling is in the JW as pioneer, she and her family ignore me as mentally disease cause faded away. I had tried to go back one time but so lonely and marked I cried in KH bathrooms. I have been out over 30 years and NOT returning. You mention the CSA coverage up. So sad this has happened But I was watching a KZfaq from 60 minutes on SEX OFFENDERs....they have hard time finding homes. Many live in woods in state of FL. But they need homes/or apartments badly....I wonder if a organization we know is building these apartment to house them. Plus sex offenders must be known on a list to protect society s children..JW kept this covered up. Not good at all. am surprised JW allowed to go door to door still. I am glad you and family doing much better ...Thank you again!

Awesome interview. I remember a sort of fear even that evening when June and I first met (referring to jumping on Vern's live stream with Joe and Fran). Despite what most of my PIMI family says about the other side (referring to those who aren't as active or inactive as others) referring to the level or pride and stubbornness (which the PIMI side needs to also look at themselves in the mirror before opening their mouths), maybe the slower approach like your son did may be the way. Irony is though I just check a box at the end of the month in comparison to the more spiritual (shell we say) side of the family, I've been the only family member looking in on my parents while others seem to only be around when they want a favor. If I told my mother what's been going on and use the same approach, I won't count on her waking up, but at least (everyone knowing how genuine I am) will at least help debunk like what you said "what will happen to those who leave the organization".

I am trying to do the same thing. Am making baby steps. Trying not to burn down my bridges. But find I get exasperated and the conversation breaks down. The problem is I’m not an ex-JW, so my knowledge of the Old Testament, which seems to be the center of the JW universe, is poor. But still this helped, thanks.

Am the only one reminded of "The Leftovers" Soundtrack ? Love the opening piano. Was that intentional? Love your channel and hearing your stories!
@JustDeannaJune
@JustDeannaJune Ай бұрын
It DOES sound like the soundtrack to the leftovers! I had to go back and listen but NO that wasn't purposeful. It's actually a woman named Esther Abrami and I believe it's just called Piano no 4. Or is it Piano no 1? I think it's 4. Jared is already asleep and I am terrible at technology so I can't look it up to be sure. But I have her name correct! Thank you for commenting and we appreciate you! 💗

Hahaha! If not intentional, the irony is not lost on me! (IMHO- The Leftovers is some of the best television ever!) Your channel has recently become one of my guilty pleasures and I have learned so much. Have you ever heard of Cults to Consciousness? I think your family would be perfect for an interview. They have talked with other former JWs, but as you know -it is rare for an entire family to make it out. It would certainly bring some more eyes and ears to your channel... And it's worth a watch! Thanks for being willing to share your journey with us ❤️

@@brookenicole7209 I love Shelise's channel! An ex- Mormon. I haven't watched in a minute, but when I first was watching cult channels, she was one of my favorites. I'll have to give her a fresh watch and maybe try and get in touch. And thank you for watching! I wish I had more hours in the day. Lol, I have so much on my plate currently, that's why we've gone to putting up a video every other week now. But I really want to keep raising awareness about the organization! We've been working with friends locally on ExJW awareness as well! Oh, yes, my husband loved the 'leftovers' if memory serves me correctly. I was still an active JW when it was out and in active addiction back then, so I would watch things, but not always get the import or meaning behind shows. I may have to revisit it! Hope you have a wonderful day 💗

By the time you're willing to ignore the pounding of your wildly beating heart and for the first time dip your toes into some exjw info, I think a part of your subconscious, your gut, already knows the religion is erroneous. It's just that your brain needs to catch up by gathering all the facts and proof. Until a person gets to that point, idk if it's possible to wake them
@JustDeannaJune

Agreed. That's why we said several times throughout the video. They didn't "wake" me. They said things that might have made me think, but I was ready to actually THINK. You wake up on your own.

How does trying to get someone out of a cult-compare to to get someone off alcohol or drugs?…
@JustDeannaJune
@JustDeannaJune Ай бұрын
I'd say they are equally difficult tasks because you are 'worshipping' to a degree I both cases. In a cult, you 'think' you're worshipping God, when in actuality you are worshipping a organization that convinced you it's God. In the case of drugs and alcohol, for me anyways... I worshipped that bottle at one point! Like it was more important to me than anything. Seriously! Like I would say my family came first, but I would drop doing stuff for my family (even though I DID love my family and want good for them, I couldn't see clearly because the bottle at that point was MORE important) to go get another bottle of vodka if I ran out, and THEN do for my family. That's true worship and dedication. In such a sad way, but dedication nonetheless. But JWs do the same thing often. They say they love their family first and foremost, yet they do what Watchtower (what they worship) says before what makes sense to actually do. I think in both cases, from personal experience, it took LOVE, not pressure, for me to see things clearly and make changes in my life for the better. And though I got "sober" while still a JW, it didn't last because I didn't know myself or why I was really drinking yet. Then I "woke up" worked on therapy, finally figured some shit out for myself and now I'm sober for real and for myself, not just to make my family happy. It was such an uphill battle but with determination and love... I got there.

Leaving the organization, do you still believe in God, and faith in Jesus as Savior? As a non JW, It seems many ex-JW's are religious, but are devoid of a relationship with the Father through faith In Christ. Just an observation.
@JustDeannaJune
@JustDeannaJune 29 күн бұрын
@@jaymcdonald9813 after taking the time to read 3 different versions of the Bible after walking away from the JW organization and making a thorough research of it. We are now atheists. My tagline at the end of all my videos is "be yourself and be well" because I no longer 'preach' who anyone should be, believe or how they should live, as long as they aren't harming anyone or animals. So, if someone wants to believe in God, the Bible, go to church, believe in card readings and mystical powers, whatever it may be... It's not for me to judge. That's what Jehovah's witnesses do, judge others. I appreciate you asking. Hope you have a wonderful day. 💗
