We camped on the highest sizeable mountain valley east of the Mississippi River! The elevation here is around 3,000 feet with the surround mountains rising over 1,000 feet around it. What is the greatest thing about Canaan Valley Resort State Park? The views.
What we love about Canaan Valley Resort State Park:
1. Full hook ups - electric, water, and sewer
2. Sites are adequate in size, wooded
3. Trails - miles and miles of hiking and biking trails
4. Views - from the valley and from higher areas of the park
5. Wildlife - deer!
6. Peaceful
7. Lots of things to do - golf, swim in the indoor pool or outdoor pool, tennis and basketball courts, pump track for bikes, climbing wall, mini golf, bike rentals, arcade
8. Friendly staff
9. Restaurants
10. Wifi
11. Winter sports
12. Ski life
What we don't love about Canaan Valley Resort State Park:
1. Verizon service - poor
2. Some sites are unlevel

Great description of one of my favorite places. Here in WV, we say "ka--NANE" (rhymes with rain). Otherwise very accurate info.

"Ka - nain" because we're lazy with our speech. As a kid we used to count the deer. I love the trails there too.

You should check out free camping in the mountains of WV just down the mountain from cannan Valley resort on the right. It's so beautiful and fun

The Canaan Loop Road has some challenging mountain driving. Check it out in your truck before taking your rig out there.

Hi Gary and Sharon. My wife and I really enjoy your videos. We we're wondering if you think there are ample bicycling opportunities other than mountain biking in Canaan Valley. Also any particular recommendations for that area? Thanks, Vincent and Robin from PA.

Oh, no! We try to show as many campsites as possible, but sometimes we can't show them all. Also, if people are at a campsite, we don't film. I hope you found a site that you like. It is a beautiful park. Happy travels. 😊👋

@@ruffroadrvlife Man... I replied but put in a youtube link so they removed the comment. (which doesn't make sense because THEY are also KZfaq....) My comment was that I was doing it for a different type of research. A guy posted a video where he insisted that he "had" to drive in forward on that site number 33 because his firepit was on the "wrong" side and I was calling bullshit on it. He was defending himself against many RV'ers who called him on it including me. Based on your video where EVERY other site has the hookup on the proper side and the garbage can, picnic table and firepit on the correct side I believe he's telling fibs about that site. "Essential Gear & Accessories for RV Beginners - We Didn't Back In to Our Campsite - Do You Know Why?" by RVBlogger I obviously can't post the link because youtube removes it, in spite of it also being a youtube video (which makes no sense) You know better than I having stayed there several times. Is his firepit on the left or right side of his trailer. For example, your RV was backed in with the fire pit on the left just outside your door. The parks website states that site 33 can accommodate up to at 35 foot RV "Backed in". Did he need to pull in forward based on your memory of that site?
