Damn. I won't forget the story of Black Spot. Stood post protecting her family until she literally starved. Even dying, she fed the pups who weren't her blood. A true soldier.

I love documentaries that embrace and accept the brutality of nature. It goes to show just how difficult like in the wild can be.

Black Spot's is possibly the saddest story I've ever heard. So many tears! And then tears again at the end with the howling. That was just beautiful!

Rest in peace to that lone wolf, and black spot, she died a mother and was still nursing the pups until she died the next day, truly sad

The raid on the 5 pups has me in tears, seeing the mom looking for her babies afterwards.. Damn. It sucks.. I know this is how it is in the wild, and I'm sure the wolf mom would/has killed her prey's/enemy's babies too, but it still sucks

It's truly amazing that anything can survive in that environment.

how that one wolf rolled over to submit to the other gang of wolves yet they still killed him. Seeing the pain and the light leave his eyes is something that breaks my heart.

Black spot being allowed into pack and allowed access to pups says clearly she was one of alpha pairs grown up pups, her own pups having been killed ment she could now nurse other pups, so sad she died,rest in peace black spot. Thank you for filming all these wolves.

Absolutely heart wrenching - the lone female wolf losing her offspring. And God bless you, Black Spot. I don’t understand her relationship to the pack and her drive to nurse others’ offspring to the point of her demise. The documentary does not really offer any insight. It’s awful 😞 how badly wolves treat each other.

Wow, this is really incredible to watch. I would have killed to see stuff like this when I was a kid. I remember how excited I was at a little snippet on PBS about tracking red wolves with radio collars, and how disappointed I was at how short the bit was.

Awe the pups are so adorable and i love watching nature channels. Wolves are wild animals but still are cute will protect their cubs from other creatures and predators. 😊

Quality and substance of this Documentary are excellent. WE thank the film crew and Editor of this Video for producing such a detailed study into the Arctic Wolf behavior. Living in the Arctic to film the Wolf Packs would not be easy in the Summer let alone the winter. For the Editor, is it possible that Black Spot died of a Disease rather than starving to death.

Documentaries of animals are so satisfying and nice to watch also when they add peaceful music but poor black spot she did everything and no one cared for her and even though the pups weren't hers she deserves better shes in a better place were everyone cares for her

I’ve worked in eureka before and the wolves pass right through camp almost daily. One guy even pet one named one eye because his other eye was scared. They are harmless and pass right through scouting for musk ox. I’ve seen them chase Hare too but with no success.

The cub with the same spot as Black Spot makes me think that it was hers, and not Snowwhite's. It would explain a few things to me, like why she was even lactating, or why Snowwhite and Alpha allowed her near the cubs. Who knows, maybe that's where she got that motherly instinct to protect them at all cost, even her own life. ❤❤❤😢

Amazing documentary and amazing photography. Have no clue how was this video executed, I can guess using drawn photography, but still there must be an operator nearby 24/7. As for the story of the pack, it was heart breaking. Wolves, as much as they seem (to me) so cute, huggable, and amazing animals, must have their own behavioral codes, and can be deadly to one another. I mean, it was heart breaking to see that poor wolf member being wounded and left to die, obviously he was submissive; so could a get-out-of-here warning be suffice? There was no really need to injure him to death. Then there is BlackSpot they have been using until drained to death, like a slave of no merit. If she did die of starvation, they probably knew it will be (as they know and sense anything, much more than we humans), but probably as she was from a different pack ("immigrant") they did not care much for her, they let her raise and nurture the pups, and then goodbye. Tough to watch; but there is nature, what do we humans really know about?

A 40 year old man just tearing up thinking about this. I can't stand this anymore, I can't stand these humans no more. WE HAVE FAILED ANOTHER GREAT ANIMAL. The hell with Rovers on Mars, the hell with drones on freakin Titan, the hell with finding new exoplanets! We can't even take care of ourselves, of our own. These animals are our own. I have a feeling Black Spot was a sister or a cousin of Snow While. So of course she’d be immediately integrated and giving a big job of that we’re the case.

I tend to imagine the story of Blackspot went like this....Blackspot was an old matriarch that lost her pups and packs to the raider wolves (A band of sterile males and one female) to live out her remaining life roaming the artic protecting other packs' offspring since she is now too old to have her own and must now willingly offer her body and life to the protection of the pack. Man I love wolves

The cooled but scariest encounter with wildlife I ever had was as a girl in Georgia. I was in the woods exploring and all of a sudden I heard the growl of a cougar and I froze, because that I was told to do, and it took me a second to see him, but he was staring straight into my eyes and I could his right font leg. I was only about 6 feet away, so I stayed frozen and averted my gaze and dared glance once more and I will never forget how gorgeous that big cat was. He blended in so damned well I damn near fell over him. He looked at me for probably about 20 seconds and then went on his way. He was just telling me I had intruded on his territory, but the hair stood up on my arms and neck the split-second at me. I still get chillbumps thinking about it, but he was MAGNIFICENT. Fortunately, cougars don’t like to bother humans unless you corner them somehow, so he let me pass. I hope I never surprise a wolf, though when my parents lived in Reno near the mountains, I was looking out at the Christmas snow early in the morning and a timber wolf went slowly jogging through the yard, and I saw lynx and bobcats there, and one day we woke up and there was a small group of wild horses in the backyard grazing. They were amazing. I love watching them test through the Nevada landscape. What a sight to see. What a beautiful planet we have.
