People like Krystal should never be given a licence. Not only is she arrogant and selfish on the road, she does not even understand what is wrong. If people like her can get a licence in Canada, it really shows that their system is clearly wrong. I would not get my licence in my country if I did not pass 90% written test, slalom, reverse and parallel parking and a testing drive in real traffic with a police officer in the back seat checking even whether you look in the mirrors or not without a single mistake. That is how it should look like everywhere imo. We also have to spend one month going to class for theory and about 30 hours of training in the real traffic before even going for the test.

You're right about having a police officer in the car with you when you take your driving test. I did when I lived in the States too. We were required to take Driver's Education in High School. Not required in Canada in some parts. Unfortunately, every Providence and Territory has different requirements, just like all of the States. In most places in Canada, you make an appointment, go in, write your test. If you pass you get a permit or equivalence. After a few months, make another appointment for a drivers test. Pass that, go on to the next level, and so on until you get a full license.
@zoznammic7 жыл бұрын
It would be better if they unified the rules in the whole country. In previous seasons there was a woman who claimed to drive for the first time ONE HOUR before she has to take the test and thats crazy. No wonder they do not even know that they are supposed to use mirrors or that almost none of them knows how to reverse.

"Who checks the handbrake?" Are you fucking serious right now? I'll admit, sometimes, I forget to take the parking brake off when I start driving, but I usually notice that the car isn't operating correctly, and I stop to analyze the situation. The same thing goes for me when I'm in too high a gear going from stop (I drive a stick). Oh boy, am I looking forward to Diana getting a wake-up call when she inevitably does the Driving Distracted Course, and demolishes it. And Krystal, too... The look of horror on Tim's face at 30:59 really echoes my thoughts on Krystal as a driver, period. And the immense disrespect that she showed Andrew actually pisses me off. I am actually wondering how she even passed that challenge, after her horrendous first attempt. Every other driver who attempted to go through with it only got one chance, so why did she get three? Also, am I the only one to notice that Tim was riding with Amrinder during the Water Tank Challenge? Why not Akash? As a side note, were I to be on the show, I know that I would do horrible on that challenge in terms of water lost, because I am rarely smooth on acceleration and braking.

For me my handbrake failed me only once, I have a really old car (coming up to 20 now), I just got the brake changed and before it would sometimes not go down fully, it would feel like it did but it didn't, I managed to drive with it still pulled up just for a few millimeters and it was enough that my brakes failed (not sure if it was because of the handbrake but I couldn't hit the brakes unless I slammed them suddenly, they didn't work slowly), but I remember first few times, I'd park my car and when my mom left a car near a ditch years ago and forgot to pull up the handbrake it rolled down and nearly got destroyed (had she not left her keys in the car and had it not been for my cousin seeing it and rushing to it and stopping it in time it would be sooo destroyed) I always hit the brake and I always check the brake if it's on or not, and besides, my car starts going really slowly and it won't go past 20, 30 tops if the brake is on and it will complain loudly, but yeah, I've only driven with it once or twice and only for a few meters and than I noticed it, and that one time when it was on apparently and my brakes failed, I am still not sure if that was the case though because the mechanic didn't know what happened and I only have the word of my grandpa for it but if it was the case it was a scary case for sure.

I mean you have to pass the written tests and than you take lessons and than depending on what instructor you get you can go through a darn long test and you also have stronger regulations, over here Kevin wouldn't get a licence due to his eye, and I have a feeling that Mike wouldn't either, I know that I had problems getting mine because my eyesight isn't good at night, and I got it but I have to have a mandatory checkup every 5 years or so and if your eyes and your health ain't good you say bye bye to your licence and it's darn hard to get it back. Oh and we also have a sorta short one day rehab we have to do within a year of getting your licence, you basically go through slalom, the icy corner, avoiding the obstacle and a few other things+ you get a long long speech about deaths and accidents and you go through a "drunk" test where you basically have to wear drunk glasses and pick and move a ball (it ain't easy believe me)+ you go through the "flipping car" simulation, if you lose your licence you have to do that again, just for longer time. And some people come back over and over and if it takes them a year to do it properly it takes them a year, they don't get a licence back until they complete it decently.

So let's say in theory Krystal makes it to end and that's a real possibility at this rate. Would Andrew be riding in the car with her on the final public drive?
@tylermarchand29967 жыл бұрын
That is honestly a great question. I always wonder why Steven doesn't have a Purple Heart by now, because it seems like riding with Krystal is suicidal. But, this is Andrew's job, so he'll probably have to do it. Then again, he's mentioned times where he should not have gone on the drives with the contestants (think Chanie from CWD10, after her revealing she has been driving unmedicated for 2 weeks). But, as I have watched the show in its entirety since season 5, I have come to realize that the unexpected could always happen. Take Crystal from season 5. I am pretty sure that if Crystal didn't have a personal tragedy that took her out of rehab, then it might have been a tossup between her and Angelina for the worst, as I don't think she passed a single challenge while she was there. Similarly, going into season 9, I was adamant that Angelina would be the worst driver ever, until she was removed to attend therapy. Something very well could happen to Krystal that forces her to get expelled from rehab (like Scott from season 6). If that's the case, then the title could very well go to the next worse, who in my opinion is Tyler. But then again, even if she avoids the final, she could still wind up with the worst, as back in season 9, Dale was one vote away from being the worst ever, despite being expelled due to her 'accident'. I just don't know at this point.

For looking to become a driving examiner / recruiter next year, I can tell you how it works here in Canada... If you're 18 or over, you pass a theory exam the same way you do in Europe, with a driving school. Then it depends on the Province. I live in British Columbia and here we have ICBC (Insurance Corporation of British Columbia), an equivalent of the American DMV (Division of Motor Vehicles). You can get the books there, but it's recommended to follow a theory course, which leads after that to the practical sessions. Once you feel ready, you can apply paying a fee to ICBC to get your theory test on a computer. Once you get it it's valid 1 or 2 years I think. Then you can start the driving practice (if you're under 18, you can do it with a tutor or parent aged 21 minimum, whom has the license and passed the 2-year probation). After that you get the exam with an ICBC examiner for the road test. And you get your license. After that you're on probation for 2 years with multiple restrictions (a single ticket of ANY KIND with demerit points and your GDL - "Graduated Driver's License" - is canceled. Worst are DUI of course, and distracted driving). For two years you display a green "N" tag on the back of your vehicle (for "New Driver"), during the two-year probation. Also here in BC we're similar like the UK, we have a red "L" tag for "Learner" (all other Provinces has a different method or tags, I think Ontario has a similar system has we have here in British Columbia). Hope that answers your questions :)

It doesn't matter what country you got your drivers license from, what matters is that you would STILL have to take a drivers exam and driving test all over again. You are in a place with different rules and regulations, but SOME of them might still be the same, BUT NOT ALL! Before I moved from the USA to Canada, I knew that there were A LOT of regulations that were different, if not the same, and a few that didn't even exist from where I passed to get my license. I learned about some of them from friends that I would visit in Canada. After moving to Canada, I could surrender my US license for a new license in the providence I would be living in, WITHOUT taking any exam or road test! Personally, I thought that was stupid and unfair! So I went through the entire process, written exam (it was in metric) and driving exam. I also believe that when someone goes for their license for the first time, need to present a certificate from a licensed driving school before getting behind the wheel for their driving tests! ( And they offer that person a written exam in their first language if it's not English.) On another personal note; after seeing what Krystal does behind that wheel, and in her interview segment, I salute the camera crew for NOT wanting to drive with her! Racing the crew following her to a mall? In the rain? Recklessness! She thinks that everything is a challenge and that she has to be the one out in front, and that she does no wrong! And when Andrew confronts her, she breaks down and cries! What a drama queen! I hope that Cam will be able to find something to charge her with.

I'm British (English, specifically) and a Canadaphile (I just love the place and dream of going there someday). Our test aren't as tough as German tests, which explains why they are the literal best in the world (to no surprise) but get a licence in the UK can be tough. I'm a measurably better driver than most people, definitely this lot, but it took me 2 attempts on the written and 5 attempts on the practical to pass.

Problem with Canada is there's no standardize test on getting it. Place where I got it was fairly hard with a lot of different things I had to do. But in more rural places the test can literally be just driving down a straight road

I'm always bewildered by people who don't understand blind spots. When I was learning how to drive my instructor (poor man, I was not an easy student) had me drive down a quiet suburban street, then told me to stop. He made me describe everything on the road that I saw ahead of me, everything I saw in my mirrors, and everything I saw in my peripheral vision. He made me turn my head to the left, then had me look through my right rear passenger window. What did I see? I saw a car that didn't show up anywhere else. That was decades ago, and I still won't let anyone block my vision through the rear passenger windows. I won't let anyone hang clothes on those little hooks, I won't allow boxes to be piled up, nothing at all is allowed to interfere with my ability to see through those windows. I don't know how many times that has saved my life, and the lives of other people. I'm not claiming to be a great driver, but I don't make mistakes merging into people. Those three minutes were a searing lesson about blind spots.

31:29 "that would never happen" Its happened to me twice, I avoided an accident the first time because I had heaps of following distance allowing me to ABS my way to a safe stop, the second time I was able to go on the should to make it around. There's a third time I'm nto counting where I came around a corner on a state highway to a hay bale in the road and had to shoulder check to avoid slamming into that.

As a teenager living in Canada with a G1, it is very easy to get your driver's license. Your knowledge test is only out of 40, 20 questions per section, and you only need to pass with getting a 70% on each section. Those who do pass with the bare minimum are missing a lot of knowledge, and those are the type of people who are the ones that can end up on a show like this.
@ascension.m5 жыл бұрын
Quite easy. 3 tests - first is written, second incorporated highway driving then final test is to be fully licenced. We are not tested in different scenarios like night or rural environments. Our test (at least in Ontario) is only 15 minutes long and the city I took my test in has over a 60% fail rate. Many people do their tests in other cities because they are known to be easy at passing. I know European cities are more stricter.
@danielhagen37394 жыл бұрын
I took a test that required me to parallel park on a regularly used street, uphill and downhill, shoulder check, figure my own way out of a bad intersection, define different signs on the road, merge on and merge off, and use a roundabout. I live a few hours away from Edmonton, and I have no idea how tf Krystal meth got her licence, but I know there's some places where you don't even need to try to get your licence because it's so dead.

@nancypine99525 жыл бұрын
She might claim she's a feminist because she thinks it's about being a female. But feminism is really about making things fair for both sides, like having joint custody, or assigning custody to the father if he's the best parent, or not allowing alimony if the marriage is a short one, and many other matters. It's not about women having whatever they want.
