There is a part of me that honestly wants her to get better. But some people may be too far gone to be rehabilitated. Assuming she isn't expelled (which is a real possibility), her public drive will be heavily judged. It is Andrew's job to go on these drives with the bad drivers, but does that mean he has to be enthused about it? Fuck no! He openly wished he'd never gone on Chanie's final drive from season 10 (when she revealed she drove unmedicated). She very well might pull an Arun and have a perfect run, shocking everyone, or she'll have a run like Mike's from season 5, where the experts suggested he cut his license in half because of it.

@tylermarchand29967 жыл бұрын
I'd like to think that it'd be a similar story here in Reno, because I had to go through a lot to earn my driver's license. All of this is for the state of Nevada only (it may be different in the other states). One has to score an 80% on a written test with 50 questions before they get a learning permit. One needs this learning permit for AT LEAST 6 months, but one also has to complete 30 hours of Driver's Education, and 50 hours of driving (10 of them night time). If one is in an area where Driver's Ed isn't offered (i.e. anywhere in Nevada that isn't the Las Vegas Area, Reno/Sparks, Carson City, and possibly Elko), then one needs 100 hours of driving experience. And if one has any incident during that time, the six months is automatically reset. For a driving test, one has to score at least an 80% with a certified tester in the passenger seat. Although Reno has freeways, I my test didn't go on any of them. Then, one can get a license, but if under 18, a curfew is set up (typically 10 pm to 5 am Pacific Time), and no one who isn't direct family can ride in the car until six months after receiving the license. I'd like to think that this is a pretty complex system, but loopholes can be found and exploited. Personally, were it up to me, one might take advantages of any physical geography that could make driving conditions less safe. This might not be that possible in Britain, because as far as I'm aware, the only major mountains are found in Scotland. Reno, however, is located at about 4500 ft above sea level (1370 meters), at the eastern edge of a major mountain range (the Sierra Nevada), which separate the Great Basin that makes Nevada known as a desert wasteland and the Central Valley where most of California's major agricultural goods are grown. Reno is also only 40 miles away from the only freeway-standard mountain pass over these mountains, which exceeds 7200 feet (2195 meters). Snowfall levels are high in these mountains, and some of it makes it down to Reno, covering the valley with snow and ice. Now, I've never set foot in Britain, so I can't say whether or not the weather is extremely variable from November to May, but that's how it is where I'm from.
@mosipd7 жыл бұрын
Driving in Britain can be difficult for a number of reasons but primarily because the roads are far more narrow as compared to the US. As an American who has driven on British and European roads, I'll take even the more congested roadways in the US over most of Europe. The only exception being the major motorways, which I found to be similar in nature to US highways only with less separation of opposing traffic. That can be disconcerting to drivers from the US who are not used to that sort of thing, as many highways in the US are separated by large sections of grass or guardrails. On the whole though, drivers seemed much less aggressive and I found the driving test in the UK very difficult to pass. I managed to successfully complete the test the first time around, though I was lucky not to get penalized by the instructor for not using the handbrake when starting off. Being an expat himself, originally from California, the instructor agreed that if I was able to successfully start on a hill without rolling back he would excuse the handbrake. It was odd hearing that Brits are taught to use the handbrake all the time, even when starting from a flat surface. That's something we don't generally learn in the US, even when being taught to drive a manual transmission. The only time I was ever told to use the handbrake was if you were parking a car on a steep incline.
@lornaedgar68617 жыл бұрын
To be honest I wouldn't mind driving in Canada or America because their roads are wide unlike here. I think Sweden has a very hard driving test. Don't quote me on that though.
@myopinion2day7 жыл бұрын
Interesting...I think part of the problem is that you are just allowed to drive around untill the road test. No wonder people like Krystal are complaining that "nobody taught them to drive". I think in most of Europe it's forbidden to drive without a certified instructor before passing a road test. Usually a minimum of 20 hours with a specially modified car that has additional set of pedals for the instructor to intervene in case of emergency. I think that's the right way to go, so you learn how to drive properly in the first place. But there are a lot of bad drivers here as well, so what do I know. But I know it has been helpfull to me as I know exactly what to do in a situation because of that and can act properly. These people don't even know rules of the road, let alone have the ability to handle their vehicle in most basic tasks. I am wondering what it would take for Krystal to realize how dangerous she is. I hope they keep her untill the end so she realizes how bad she is...a slap around the head would help too. I've seen her post on FB, and now she is blaming her psychological problems for bad driving...always an excuse with her.
@mosipd7 жыл бұрын
It's fairly similar throughout Europe and North America insofar that drivers are expected to drive supervised for a period of time. What does differ significantly is who can qualify as a "driving supervisor" and at what age supervised driving can take place. However the theory is pretty much the same; drive with a parent or family member for 6 months to a year and then take your driving test. Obviously drivers who hire a professional driving instructor will do much better on their test. To my (limited) knowledge though, no country requires some sort of formal driving education before obtaining a full license. The real issue in my opinion is the absolute joke that passes for a driving test in the United States and Canada. Back when I got my license in the US, the practical driving part actually took place in the parking lot of the DMV. You know what's crazy about that? They're still giving the test in that same parking lot. That's right, to get a drivers license in the state where I grew up you don't even have to drive on actual roads. Not every state is like that, and neither is Canada, but compared to the UK and most of Europe it's a complete joke. I think some people, like Krystal for example, are just not cut out to be a driver. Psychological factors aside, some people just don't have the coordination or reaction time required to safely operate a vehicle. It's hard to say exactly what Krystal's problem is as you can never get the complete measure of a person from watching TV. She strikes me as a person who doesn't have the attention span required for driving and she clearly doesn't take any of it seriously.

In Krystal's audition tape, she blames her atrocious driving on never being taught how to drive properly. Andrew is trying to teach her, but she just won't learn. I never thought I'd find a student anywhere near as difficult as Siham from season 10 (Tim voted to expel her early on in the season). I have no sympathy for her. Also, she made zero effort on the water tank challenge. And wanting to do the Eye of the Needle with her phone. She desperately needs to go through the Distracted Driving Course. But will this get through her thick skull? I highly doubt it. Okay, Diana also has to have her distracted driving issue addressed as soon as fucking possible. That should be a requirement before she is even considered for graduation. On the topic of that, I don't think I've ever seen Cam hold the swing vote (at least from what I've seen since season 5 ). Tyler's water tank test might be the worst I've ever seen (I'm not counting Shelby's season 9 run, where he lost all of the water accidentally). I'll admit, I'd probably fail this challenge were I to be on the show, but I'd do my best to stay calm, as I think that is a major skill needed in this challenge. And his Eye of the Needle run was just like Flora's from season 8. Starting at about 44:51, the sneak peek preview of next week's episode is honestly frightening. The swerve and avoid challenge looks like it's going to have two of the worst runs ever. I saw a run that was almost as disastrous as Sly's Swerve and Avoid from season 7, and a run where someone spun out.

@tylermarchand29967 жыл бұрын
I think it is stressed because the faster one is taking a turn, the greater the risk of the car rolling over, even if it has a low center of gravity like the Mustang. Tyler took it slower than Flora did, but 120 kph is still extremely fast (That equates to 75 mph in Nevada, a speed reserved only for rural freeways that are pretty straight with minimal curves). This is the very reason why I refuse to set cruise control at just one mph over the limit, as I fear for flipping my car over (and I drive a Honda Accord, which has a very low center of gravity), and also why I slow down to whatever speed is recommended to take a corner at).

Make the water challenge more interesting by filling the tub with cat urine instead of water. Also, make sure the 'phones of the habitual "texters" are positioned front 'n' centre so they suffer the brunt of the spillages.

Any time I need a laugh, I find this episode so I can watch Krystal get drenched. I really hope some of her lunacy is overdramatized for the sake of TV, but it doesn't come off that way. I'm a millennial too, and people like her are the reason our generation has a bad reputation.

Who TF is txting Velma so much??! No way is there anyone who cares what she has to say, let alone needs to know a minute by minute breakdown of her thoughts. I guarantee she doesn't have any friends and isn't running a company, so wtf is going on? Side question: how TF do all these people have so much money to throw at new tires and new cars all the time?

@tylermarchand29967 жыл бұрын
From the preview, it looks like the Distracted Driving Course is going to have a profound effect on Diana. Since her distractedness is (in my view) the biggest problem with her driving, she should be the next to go home. I'm looking forward to seeing Krystal's run, because I know it will be disastrous.

Tyler’s recreation of Flora’s crash on the Flora Turn was luckily not as spectacular as the original Flora crash. He kept it floored forever like her but topped at 120 km/h (74 mph), the only reason the crash wasn’t as spectacular, as Flora topped at 140 km/h (90 mph).

They SHOULD BE given a standard transmission car to drive!
@AB-80X6 жыл бұрын
What on earth is a standard transmission? So, a Chevy Malibu comes standard with a traditional automatic. A VW Golf GTI comes with a DSG with paddles - so basically an auto. A Fiat 500 comes with a stick.
@bharathg80726 жыл бұрын
ABOlsen69X Standard transmission is a stick shift, you know the one with three pedals and you do all the shifting. Malibu comes standard with an automatic transmission, that means you can't get a stick shift on a Malibu! 👍
@bharathg80726 жыл бұрын
ABOlsen69X And traditional transmission usually refers to a manual transmission.

7:00 I can forgive a lot of things, I can even accept drivers doing stupid things.. Drinking and driving cannot and will not ever be forgiven. Once someone crosses that line the road is shorter to doing it again. "many" years ago I too said things like "there's never anyone there" as a reason for doing stupid stuff, but that might be true for the first 2, 80 or 150 times.. One day there could be someone there thinking "There's never anyone there this time at night" ..

Krystal's phone is more than just a distraction; I suspect it's also enabling her bad behaviour. She sends and receives text messages constantly. What are the people texting to her? Words of encouragement to stick with the course? To change her behaviour? No. I think she has a circle of people who tell her that shes fine but the world is wrong. It's validation that she can't do without, otherwise she would have to admit that she is a bad driver.
