@@yandereSyndrome True that. There is absolute no public transport out here in the country rural areas. Even in town it's rare. We only have one older bus that goes around our small store/business area.

My husband served at a military base where he had no choice but to drive! His buddy who was driving him in was rescheduled and our bus service started at 7am which meant he would be 45 minutes late which is punishable! The bus ran every other hour stopping at 7p.m. We weren’t in walking distance and the weather conditions precluded walking because the temperature stayed in the 90’s and the nights were low 80’s! I missed the bus so I tried to walk home because there wouldn’t be another bus for almost two hours! I was also pregnant and even normally being in above average health routinely walking three to five miles daily at night and being a long distance runner. I ended up fainting in an elderly couples front yard who had a phone so old that it had a cloth cord and they didn’t speak English! And the area was so rural that it took my husband and his friend two hours to find the house! It was set back behind a bunch of trees! My walking alone days were over!

There might be a a situation where she has no choice such as needing to take someone to a doctor in an emergency! She also needs to do this to regain control of her life! She is not letting fear rule her in that even with the extreme fear she has not stopped driving! She just drives really slowly! And at least she’s trying plus she’s real! Farris needs more psychological help than eight episodes with Kamala! He needs a minimum of several years! I wonder if his mother was driving because that would explain the extreme anger he has against her! She talked about him losing his cousin but she didn’t state who was driving and in eight episodes she never said anything about it! Please talk about drunk drivers or distracted drivers being a victim of a road rage situation, adverse weather conditions! She never gave more than a bare bones sentence and most people would want to explain ,justify or condone their child’s anger rather than avoiding the issue by being a dishrag! Why does she not have a spine to be concerned about his anger when it first started which would have been when his cousin died right next to him!!!!

I know some really great drivers who are past 60 years old, but I've also seen some older folks with response time so bad they couldn't stop their vehicle fast enough to prevent an accident. I've also seen those that have vision to the point where they stop a good 5 cars away from the traffic light, it's just dangerous is all. I'm definitely not leaving us younger guys out of this either, I've seen plenty of younger people JUST as bad if not worse with their god dang phones always in their hand. If you ask me, this is the best setting for her to do that. No one can get hurt here, they're on an open track with no curbs or traffic or pedestrians. If she wants to keep driving then she has to force herself to get through this. It's sad that she has gotten to such a low point, but that's what happens when you wait so long to deal with an issue/fear.

That kind of fear isn't the "kid afraid of the dark" scenario we're all familiar with, but deep-rooted anxiety which isn't conducive to a "deal with your fears" strategy. Even in a controlled setting, that fear can arise because the trigger is the act of driving itself. That anxiety needs to be dealt with in a clinical setting rather than a TV show (even if there's a board-certified psychologist on staff.)

Darris is genuinely scaring me in the drive around town conversation. He is showing all the signs of a sociopath who is trying to act the part of someone normal. There are the obvious signs, though, that he doesn't truly get it. He's clearly still getting the impulses of anger, but he's holding them back for the sake of showing off how much he's "changed." It's like a alcoholic trying to fake their way through AA meetings because they're just there for the courts to get off their backs. Also, the panic attack at 32:13, why doesn't anyone give her a hug?? She clearly needs it! She's freaking out, and the best thing you could do would be to help her calm down.

Canada should definitely have a threshold for drivers license attempts. 10 attempts is mad. I live in South Africa and failed on my first driving license test, ~30m from finishing with a near perfect score because i did something stupid. I learnt from my mistakes, worked for 3 months on fixing my mistake, and passed the test the next possible time i got the opportunity to go. I understand cases like these. Failing 2 times even. But 10 is unacceptable. Even if a cooldown-period is allowed between attempts that would even be better. In South africa the 3 months i repracticed in wasn't a cooldown-period, but rather just how backlogged our systems for test appointments are 😂I just found this show. It's awesome.

Flash same thing for me. I failed for not signalling when pulling off the side of the road, practiced really hard for the next month, I went back and passed. I only took one written. You think 3 months is a bad backlog? In Ireland you wait 6months before you legally can book a test, then the backlog is 7 months. Then if you fail, well you have to wait another 7 months because of backlog 😂. So you'd better pass

In Hungary we have a few attempts to complete the test after which there has to be a medical (probably mental) evaluation if someone IS fit to complete the test. Not sure if it is the rules&laws, the routine test .. it does not matter, one is the prerequisite of the other. And this just show how lax a few country's terms of driving (and licensing) is.

I seriously think karlene has some serious PTSD from being hit, she gets so upset and terrified when she drives that it looks like shes re-living her trauma over and over again every time she drives. She needs serious help edit: For the part where brandon has a panic attack. DONT YELL AT SOMEONE HAVING A PANIC ATTACK. Speak to them calmly, and try to gently reassure them. Sorry but yelling at someone who’s panicking will ONLY make things worse. You can’t make someone “snap out” of a panic attack. Just help them go through it, and be gentle. Sorry for ranting but that part really bugged me lol

@Prairiedoggen That does sound slow. 100kmh is way more reasonable for that scenario. That's the speed I would at least go regardless of speed limit. I drive to the conditions not some trash generalized speed limit that is usually 15mph too low. Luckily I live in a city that has so much crime cops don't have much time to bother pulling over speeders. If they actually cared they would post up hella cops on I-240 and pull over 70% of the highway that is speeding by an average of 20mph.
@jacnel
@jacnel 5 жыл бұрын
Prairiedoggen artificially low speed limits are everywhere in Ontario. Here there’s random stretches of road with wide shoulders and few houses that are 60 sometimes 50 Km/h. And the minute anyone complains about a speed limit the municipal roads departments or the MTO immediately lower them. This of course does nothing to slow people down or make roads safer as people will drive whatever speed they feel is safe. We’ve basically allowed NIMBYs to dictate our speed limits and it’s made them stupid low. Want people to slow down? Redesign the road for a lower speed. No matter the signs or photo radars you put up, if a road is designed for 80 people will go 80.

I can understand Karlene's struggle to a point. I was in a nearly fatal car accident when I was fourteen that left me blind in one eye, and I was in the passenger seat. It took me 8 years, multiple tries, and an incredible support system to overcome the anxiety that I felt everytime I got into a car. But after a lot of hard work I did it. I got my license 7 months ago, and I'm proud to say that I'm doing okay with it. There's bad days, but I always remind myself that I'm okay, in control, and safe. I feel like she badly needs some possible therapy for her anxiety. I hope that she overcomes it.

If you don't have those things drilled into you when you learn to drive then new laws will blindside you and by your handbook it will state "laws may change at any time, it is up to the licence holder to keep up to date with the laws" and that is the most important condition... yes the turn may be clear because it's a green light but we all know... it takes one dumbass to create carnage

There are multiple scenarios where you could be blamed for an accident automatically if there isnt sufficient evidence proving otherwise. For example, a driver randomly and suddenly stopping to attempt to commit insurance fraud may simply lie and say there were cars in front of him when there weren't, and that would affect the driver that hits him/her. If the driver that crashes onto the car doesn't have a dash cam to prove his/her innocence, that person is found responsible and would be screwed if insurance scams ran rampant and it happened two more times.

damn they are horrible.. and darris is a bomb ready to explode.. we do have this same show here in Finland called "suomen surkein kuski" and there has been horrible drivers too, even that our driving license is ridiculously long, expensive and hard to get. just as a side note, there is 2 main steps to having your permanent license here. 1. phase: after you get through driving test (includes minimum of 4 theory hours, minimum of 10 driving hours) and and written test, you get 2 years to finish the phase 2 or you loose your license. phase 2. you need to go to have a night driving test and slippery track test. your normal car driving license becomes invalid after every 15 years if you dont go back to drivingschool. in truck licenses it's 5 years. this last one is a new law that we all dont appreciate too much.. thanks EU.

When I was learning to drive a friend of the family took me out in an empty parking lot and we practiced reversing for like an hour, I practiced accelerating and slowing, turning in reverse, even doing figure 8s in reverse, it really helped me get comfortable with my car and with driving in general, highly recommend doing something similar

Before I get to point #6, let me get points #1 to #5 out of the way briefly: 1) Karlene reminds me of Lou and Daniella combined. She looks like she wants to change, she just needs a lot more help. Her issues seem deep. I do think she may be the next graduate in like several episodes from now though, she is slowly but surely trying and making progress. 👍😀 2) Alexis is Chanie is every aspect. How she was unfocused throughout the entire episode, she is looking like Chanie in every big way. Even her complaining is Chanie styled. Someone should get Chanie (and Jeremy her nominator) to this group and get Chanie in on this season. 3) Brittany isn't nearly as skilled as Lauri in Season 7 to tell you the truth. So glad she had to do the challenges with the dog doll on her neck though! 4) Descy is a bit too impatient. I find she is rushing things (similar to Julie from S13). But I still have some hope for Descy too. 5) Brandon may take a bit of work to do too. I really hope he finds a way to seek more help. I think he needs to be able to focus too and not want to give up. He should fare better than S11's Jordan though! And now for the 6th point worth an essay: 6) My attitude for Darris has taken a drop down. If I didn't hate him before, I hate him now. HOW DARE HE DISRESPECT TIM DANTER LIKE THAT?!? "I don't like you Tim Danter"... Like grow up. I also hate him for disrespecting the Judges. Oh and "I'm my brother's keeper" is the icing on the cake. I almost screamed at my school's cafe at Darris over my phone screen (by the grace of God, I didn't). His mom looks scared for her life. I think he and his brother should both be in prison. I just hate him so much at this time. I could also opt him to take Mitchell's place too in S11, Darris deserves the verbal tyrade that Jillian gave back then (but I still love and consider you the best turn around story though Jill :D). That is my take on Episode 2 this season.

I found it most amusing that he told Tim he thought he was too confrontational, and Tim let it slide. Not just for the irony because obviously Darris is as confrontational as they come, but it felt like Darris was looking for a reason to justify himself getting aggressive and Tim by being non-confrontational didn't provide that and probably kept Darris from 'hulking up' and becoming angry on the road. I also think they let Joe go a couple of years ago despite a fairly unconvincing "I've changed" story, but while Joe was an aggressive driver, he was at least in control when he was driving like that, while Darris seems like far too much of a loose cannon for them to graduate in the same way.

Darris needs help and you want to throw him under the bus... for a guy like him his words cannot be taken seriously. He needs help not prison and once he opens up for it then he will change. He needs to be 'worked on' off camera a lot

Why does the speedometer on the Mustang say "Ground Speed?" As opposed to "Air Speed?" 😁

Yes, there is another way to measure speed, and that is speed relative to the air, not the wheels.

The Mustang name was an homage to the P-51 aircraft, although the only connection between the two was a Ford designer who just really liked the aircraft. For the 2015 model year - the 50th production year of the car - Ford put in a lot of aviation-related quirks. The avionics-like toggle switches on the center console and "wing like" dashboard lines are more subtle. The complementary "airsick bag" in the glove compartment is a cute joke and easily discarded. The "GROUND SPEED" is painted onto the speedometer and the designers either didn't realize it would age badly or didn't care. It's a bit cringey.
