Some people walk on top of Durdle Door, them jump/dive off it! However, jumping from a height into shallow rocky water risks serious injury.

I used to drink in a pub below Corfe Castle many moons ago ( roughly 40 years ago), a lovely part of the World.

I live in Hampshire so visit Dorset fairly often. Been around Corfe Castle and Swanage five times this year for the steam railway.

Cromwell had the castle blown to pieces near Swanage there is the Bankes Pub at Studland nice food plus the walk to Old Harry is nice think the Bankes family own or owned Corfe Castle.

Corfe Castle isn't finished yet. It was started after 1066, but there are a few stones to put in place yet, plus the plastering, and then the carpets. You can't hurry these things.😁

If you go to Dorset again go to Tynholm it’s a village stuck in a time warp people were moved out during WW2 and never returned

@@MeganRuth so you drive down the A30 and at Chiverton take the St Agnes road. Before St Agnes are signs to Chapel Porth. Park in the national Trust car park. Walk up the cliff path and come to Wheal Coates, a 200 year old tin mine engine house, and 30 miles each way coastal views. Afterwards go to Perranporty for lunch. There is the watering hole on the beach. Afternoon drive up the a3075 to Cubert and Holywell bay. If it's super low tide you can go in the cave with the 5th century Holywell in it. There is a 5th century Celtic church in Person sands. Another day drive from Newquay to padstow on the Atlantic road and near Travarrian is Bedruthan Steps. Cliffs and rocks. Spectacular. There is a national Trust car park there. Find some Cornish language - Kernewek. Dydh da. Agas Dynergh gans Kernow. I'm Cornish but work in Asia. I'm here for a 2 week, annual trip to visit family. I go back to jakarta end of August. I recommend you come to Cornwall September after summer school holiday traffic. Sea is relatively warm. Surf is up on the North Coast. Oh yes and you must also go to Hayle for a Philps pasty and St Ives for a cute seaside town with special views. The Scilly Isles if you have time. Almost Mediterranean looking. Enjoy it Ruth x.

Dorset. Or God’s own county as I like to think of it. If I was to move away from Essex (where I’ve lived my entire life to date) it would be to Dorset: Dorchester, or Lyme Regis, or somewhere anyway along the Jurassic Coast…
