Further - DPU stands for Distributed Power Unit, Not Deisel Power Unit. The DPU in the middle of the train is Radio Controlled from thwe lead engine. Any locos directly behind the lead loco are directly controlled through internal connection.

There was only ONE DPU! The two locomotives at the head of the train are not DPUs - They are the main Consist of the train.
