In Germany, an airport fire department is classified differently from the voluntary fire departments or professional fire departments. They are referred to as company fire departments. The difference is that the airport company maintains its own fire department and is supported by the voluntary or professional fire departments. Company fire departments are not only found at airports, but also in other parts of industry.

I think the full house response from the BASF south Firestation with 18 apparatus responding at once would be worth a watch. its not a municipal fire and rescue station but one of the multiple industrial fire station of the BASF chemical plant there.

The time within which the emergency services must be on site is prescribed by law. Due to traffic jams, construction sites or traffic, this is of course not always the case in reality. The lads and lasses are trained to be on the scene as quickly as possible and to do their job. Our professional fire brigade, for example, is not only equipped for chemical accidents. But also for operations at height (climbing) and also for diving and water accidents. When I was in sixth form, you could set the clock to once a week because the professional fire brigade carried out exercises. But there are also frequent false alarms. When welding or grinding work is carried out in factory buildings, the smoke alarms go off. I've had to experience this myself at work, once a week, when an entire fire brigade platoon was called out. With police and ambulance.

I've been at one of the 3 firestations on Leipzig/Halle Airport during a group tour. The Panther trucks are started from the outside - there's a button next to the driver's door. The driver pushes this button while getting in and the engine is already running. Airport fire departments have to be on the scene in 2 minutes after the call came in - otherwise the airport gets closed for safety problems

It's a bit tricky. In German fire service there are different ways to classify different Kind of fire departments. One way is the classification as public fire department (öffentliche Feuerwehr) on one hand and plant fire department (betriebliche Feuerwehr) on the other hand. The plant fire departments are privat and belong to a company. They are deticated to care for the fire protection on site of the plant / the company. Within the plant fire departments there is a classification again. They're classified as "Betriebsfeuerwehr" on one hand and Werkfeuerwehr on the other hand. I don't know how to translate those terms correctly, so I don't even try. The "Betriebsfeuerwehr" is something hosted by companies to improve the fire pretection of the plant. These fire departments are run by volunteers and in case of incidents (like a fire) they serve as some kind of first responder until the the public fire department arrives. The "Werkfeuerwehr" is a fully equipped and trained fire department, that meet the standards of of the public fire departments. They can be volunteer or career fire fighters (or a Mix of both) depending on the requirements. The most of Those fire departments are ordered by the regulating authority (due to the potential of risk that comes from that plant) . In those cases there has to be at least a certain amount of career fire fighters. In addition to the mentioned standards they also have special Equipment and training for the specific requirements of the plant (for example in chemical Industry). An airport fire department is considered a "Werkfeuerwehr" but besides regulations Form German fire protection laws (those are state laws) and requirements from the regulating authorties, they have to additionally follow and fullfill the requirements of the ICAO (International civil avaition Organisation). That's a fully different world than it is for the other fire departments. That's where those special airport fire trucks come from. The most of the trucks you see in the video, are those special airport fire trucks. That's nothing that you can use for an apartment fire or something 😉

I would have a Video suggestion for you after you like the german emergency vehicles i thought mybe you'd like the austrian ones too so i would recomend videos of the Viena Fire departmen, Police, Ambulance and the "Wiener Linien" emegency vehicles. I hope you like them

in my childhood I stood once at a German airport watching planes landing. Then a plane landed and one tire blew up at "touch down" and produced quite some more smoke than normal (but later clear: no fire, but it was not clear at the beginning). The plane stopped at the very end of the runway and did not turn into the taxi way. Then after some minutes the doors of the fire fithers house opened and some FF trucks came out but stopped for maybe a minute. Then they started driving but into the very wrong direction and went very far away from the main building and very, very far away from the plane. Then they stopped in the middle of the taxi ways and some minutes nothing(!) happend, then they turn around in the opposite direction and raced to the plane. I was pretty shocked and thought "okay, also fire fighters are just humans and can make mistakes but 4.. 5.. 6 minutes loosing when a fire could start at the landing gear could make a big difference... (German precision is very often a myth, they are often like everybody else).
