I did a restyle of the popular Max Grundy Merc made by Maisto today. The challenge was about nice paint jobs and all I needed was a sexy body to paint. Trying to get some exposure to the smaller Diecast Restoration channels.

You definitely won this one. I like his Mustang, but you won because yours turned out flawless. No "orange peel" effect visible, and the deep purple is truly DEEP! Keep up the great work, man!

In every "contest" or competition there have to be winners and losers. While the Outlaw's paint job did qualify as a solid entry, at least it didn't come in NEXT TO LAST, like Jimmy did. OK, I can't take this bit any farther without giving Diecast Resurrection the HUGE GOLD TROPHY. It all comes down to PREP. And Jimmy preps best between you two. Gawd, man, what a finish. A standard has been set. Thank you for sharing...

That was a great body mold to work with. It's cool that you explore different brands and not just strictly Hot Wheels. I found a really nice M2 '49 Mercury that serves well as a "Cobra" (Stallone) replica. Tomy (Tomica) used to make some very nicely detailed cars back in the day as well. Awesome car...creamy leather interior, quadrophonic Blaupunkt, and that purple body is so candy-liciious I could wrap it in cellophane and keep in in my aunt's purse!

I saw you did another candy job in a dark color. All that darkness sucks the light and leaves it looking like a stock black car. It also hides the nice swoops of the body designs. Use a silver base coat and add clear to the dark paint. Gives it depth and the candy will stand out a lot more. Nice video!

Bro what video were you watching, I had a silver on top of gloss black with a candy pigment covered by clear. Nothing shows off candy paint like natural light. Those who saw it on Instagram got a chubby. I do agree with you that I need more light to show off the paint. Only the highest class of candy paint has the depth I’ve been putting into these paint jobs. I feel like I need to do less depth just for the sake of showing it on film though.

@@DiecastResurrection I saw the black cherry build. For some reason when I think of candy paint I think of JuJuBees. Reds, greens, oranges and yellows that make the eye go deep into the reflected paint. Black/dark absorbs visible light. Maybe it's just watching your fantastic videos on a smartphone that makes my observation(s) errant. Keep up the good work and I enjoy your content!
