I am an absolute Smith and Wesson fan. My revolvers. My 2.0's. The old law enforcement 38s I've bought. I love Smith. All that said. Canik has completely took me by surprise. Not just Canik, but Girsan, SDS/Tisas. They're just damn well made guns. A lot of value for the money. What really shines with Canik is the trigger and how much gun you get get for the dollar. Remember one thing. Almost all Turkish guns are built to NATO specs, so 9mm, 124 grain. Hence the stouter spring.

Different strokes for different folks. I have a Canik TPSF 9 Elite or whatever and it's never functioned properly and the sights came warped. Great trigger and grip, just doesn't always go bang. All my Shields go bang every time, they just aren't comfortable

I bought the sc elite when they first came out. Had too many issue's that could have been fixed with a new recoil spring. But I didn't know that at the time, so I got rid of it. At the time, it was my only handgun. So I didn't have any trust in it.

@@infidel24 I got the recoil spring that somewhat fixed the issue, but I'd not trust my life with it. The spring mostly fixed the cycling issues, mostly, but didn't fix the light primer strikes. At this point it's just there on the shelf acting as a dust shield.

@@KZfaqCensorshipStinks I got rid of it before the known issue with the recoil spring. Wound up buying a glock 19. Now for summer carry, I carry either my hellcat or hellcat pro. @@infidel24 That's certainly understandable. Fortunately for me I have had nary an issue and I have shot the living piss outta that thing. One thing that I did want to mention about the Canik, is that it will take the mags from their other lines of pistols. So if you have some of their other pistols, you can pop the longer mags into the smaller pistol, and run with it.

@@paytonpowell1078 That's very true also! 👍 For those that don't know, the Equalizer is S&W's Re-Invention of the Shield EZ 9mm. Definitely a good weapon, particularly for those who have lesser hand strength, or impairments/limitations with their hands/wrists. It also comes with the handgrip safety, for those who prefer to have an extra layer of protection when holstering/unholstering. Particularly for striker fire pistols.

I've owned every brand of gun out there and have liked most of them for what I needed at the time. I switched to Canik almost 10 years ago because their triggers were so much better, "Walther like" as compared to Glock and other guns that I've only bought Canik ever since. I TP9'sTP9 Elites, Mete's, Rival's and now have the MC9 and they've always been flawless in performance at an incredible value in terms of price. I shoot in 3 gun competitions and love my Canik's which have proven to be straight-shooting and reliable in every aspect. I will mention that Canik does have manufacturing here in the US now and their factories are ISO 9000 certified which is very important in terms of QC, and Canik is a Nato authorized firearms manufacturer that makes high-grade military arms too. The last point that I didn't see you mention is that you can run 12, 15, and 20-round mags in the Canik as long as they are the in the TP9 family of mag's for their other guns, and they are relatively inexpensive in terms of cost as compared to other brands on the market today. Generally in the 25 to 35 dollar range. Mec-Gar is the magazine manufacturer for Canik which is a top of the line magazine manufacturer for just about every top-shelf brand of gun out on the market today.

Personally I have both but I have to hand it to canik. I shoot the canik rival and mete sfx for competition so I'm used to controls and love the triggers. It makes training and switching between all of the guns from full size to the micro 9 easy. I also love that the mc9 takes caniks full size magazines as well. It can flex from conceal carry to home defense very effectively. But in the end the shield plus is a phenomenal pistol as well. I have become a huge Canik lover. And been for a while now , it's the only guns that I recommend to friends and family. I found that the weight is there to reduce the recoil, and it's very, very accurate. In this video, notice the muzzle flip of the two guns. The S&W has noticeably more muzzle flip, although like the Canik it sort of gets right back on target but not as fast as Canik. That's because, as stated, the Canik, in fact, has less flmuzzle flip. Also, the slide loosens up after so many rounds, that's usually true for all pistols and firearms in general. And you can't beat what you b get for under $450. I mean, come on, man. Canik is the clear winner.

The Masada slim is in the same league as these two and I really like it. The grip is a bit longer than the Canik which allows full purchase without needing any pinky extension. I like the magazines and bace plates much better on the Shields. They extend the grip, both front and back on the extended mags. The reason the canik is shorter is because they are measuring from the back of the grip which is shorter than their mag bace plate. I do like a light rail alot and the front slide serrations on the canik. But the shield comes in different calibers too. I bought the shield m2.0 45 performance center as my preference. Since it works great I see no reason to jump to a different gun. But I do wish it had a light rail.

Great video easily the top two ccw guns without having to add non oem parts like a shield mag etc. when I was Deciding between the two it came down to the trigger and the optic ready version. In order to get a trigger as good as the Cantik on the Smith and Wesson I had to go Performance Center, but I did not want the longer barrel and they do not make the short barrel in an optics ready version and currently I am carrying optics ready daily carries. So that is why I went canik. I Lao considered the p365x I have an xl but the slide is to long.

I would love to see the new Shield Plus OR 3.1 Luger with the most updated trigger from S&W compared to the MC9. I am debating on which one to go for.

The mag drop issue can be rectified easily with a hair dryer and a piece of wood. When you look at the magwell without the mag installed it has an inward curvature to it, probably due to the thin construction. Cut wood to fit snug enough to flare the sides out slightly, just a tad over parallel, then hit it with a hair dryer and get it nice and hot. Let it cool completely before removing the wood. If done correctly it should relax back to parallel once the wood is removed. Mags will now eject with authority like any other Canik.

I had many issues with my 1st mc9 and 2nd. Would not feed hollow points from hitting slide release. Instead sending it back I polished the heck out of the ramp with some stopping compound till it was high gloss. Now it feeds every hollow point I put in it

I own both but carry my M&P’s, Canik can be ammo sensitive especially in the first 200 rounds. My Shield Plus has never given any trouble. I own several of each, both are great.

The only Caniks I seen at Guns Store is Full size. None in 3 1/2 inch barrel like the MC9 or DP9 Elite So I bought a S&W Shield and a Shield Plus later and built them up. I made my Shields into Subcompacts. I Bought used a 9mm Shield. Changed out the trigger. Installed a 3 5/8 inch Treaded Barrel from Faxon, New Sites (Front Site bent), A Hogue Grip.. Also have a 9mm Shield Plus and installed a 3 5/8 inch True Precision Treaded Barrel. Also a Hogue Grip. Great Stability and Accuracy. Shooting 12 ounces hanging Beer cans 20 yards easy and 40 yards Body size Targets. Reliability 100 present. Even with no Optic Cut nor light rail, I am Very VERY happy with them.

I forgot about the Shield Plus in 30 super carry and was all about it when you did your video. Definitely cant go wrong with either of these. Im still carrying my g19 and an SR22 with cci segmented hollow points when I want something lighter. Looking to replace the SR22 but im still torn but leaning towards the Shield Plus Optics ready.

And the optics ready Shield Plus comes with Tru Glo night sights!👍 I got the bug out bundle from PSA for $549. Pistol, four 13 round mags, one 10 round, a small first aid kit, and a small carry bag. I put a crimson trace red dot and a tlr6 light/laser on it. Oh, and ordered two 15 round mags as well. I couldn't ask for anything more. Good luck in your decision!👍✌️

@@JustScottPaid that's a really good deal and I'll have to keep an eye on PSA, thank you. I owned a Shield 9mm for 5 years and it was good, reliable, and easy to carry. The trigger on the Shield Plus looks good. I'll probably go check one out in town soon.

Polygonal rifling provides slightly better accuracy, velocity and durability in the barrel. Most only use brass ammo anyway. Polygonal rifling costs more to make than conventional barrel rifling, but the benefits outweigh the costs to manufactures like Walther, CZ & H & K. What's the difference between Kahr PM9 and CM 9? Does either the S & W or Canik have Polygonal?
@kobudo
@kobudo 11 ай бұрын
I can tell you that the difference between the CM9 and PM9 is that the cheaper Kahr uses MIM parts, where the other doesn’t. No clue on the polygonal rifling, though.

The Canik is a decent gun for the money, but M&P is the line for me. S&W is pushing out one of the best pistols available today with the new front serrations and an outstanding flat face trigger. I believe the M2.0 line eclipses every pistol available except perhaps the HK VP9.

Honestly, the older I get, the more guns I buy, the more customer service is important to me. I do most all my own work - im pretty handy, ect but if you have an issue you can't or shouldn't mess with, its nice to know a company has your back. S&W's customer service is terrible. I carry an M&P compact and I just bought a Shield Plus for summer carry. Their customer service has made me wish I would've bought a 19 and 43.

As a side. Two seasons ago my duck gun was in the shop. Waiting for a part. I was in a fix. Nothing in stock. My guy said he could get me a CZ pump, waterfowl edition by Thursday. I said go. I shot Browning my whole life. This gun, came out of the box with 5, yes 5 waterfowl choke tubes. Perfect fit and finish. Swung and shot like an old school 870. $434.00 out the door. CZ - made in Turkey. Awesome gun. And has easily withstood 3.5" magnum waterfowl and turkey loads. I'm a lefty, so I deal with it. Will probably go back to my old BPS, but it did an amazing fill in job. The Turks build rock solid guns.

Got love for Hegshot reviews and I am personally a SW user but I’ll have to say that the draw portion of the video is slightly biased. Hegshot has much much more practice with draw and aim with SW. For me SW is simply something that I am absolutely comfortable with being my EDC but having held both of these Canik has done a good job on their ergonomics. However, if I carry the Canik long enough I feel that I may well come to trust and enjoy it just as much as the SW. The proven reliability and familiarity naturally makes me lean toward SW but the Canik is pretty awesome. Thanks Hegshot for another great video bubba!

One should feel totally comfortable with their carry gun. Any new firearm will require considerable handling before it acheives carry status. This review confirmed that fact. Regardless of the features of a new firearm, it is new. It is not familiar and has no track record. If an owner likes their concealed carry gun, considerable time is needed to vette a new weapon. Evaluating these two guns therefore needs to be performed by someone without bias, otherwise one is comparing emotion, not firearms. I am currently looking for a higher capacity carry gun to replace my Kahr PM 9. In over 10 years, it has never failed with any ammo, anytime. To feel a replacement is right, considerable time will be required. No new gun will feel as comfortable to carry as my PM 9. When I decide a replacement, considefable range time will be required before I put it on my hip. And unlike the Kahr, a new gun will remain supect until time assures it is the right choice.
