Hi friends, happy Thursday! Welcome to the Dark History podcast. Mummies, we know em, we’ve love em. And they are quite exclusive. Really rare. I mean everybody loses their minds whenever we find a new one. But would you believe at one time, there was a whole bunch of these bony bois lying around? Oh yeah, and what’s the reason why there are so few now? In today’s episode, we get into just that. And the reason…not exactly what you may think. Let’s just say…it involves cannibalism.
I appreciate you for coming by, and tune in next week for more Dark History.

Not defending their actions in the least, I’m pretty sure I mouthed “what the f**k” more in this episode than in any other ….. but that being said, I don’t think we can expect too much from people who were willing to pickle their own countrymen in bogs when supplies and profits dwindled ….. this isn’t even close to the only ….. interesting (and questionable) practice of the time .…. this, drawing and quartering, heads on the Tower ….. I mean, their War of the Roses inspired Game of Thrones, so that should say something ….. but they know how to properly hold a teacup and are masters at all other forms of table etiquette and polite conversation ….. this other stuff, like grave robbing and regicide, is politics, and politics, we all know, are gauche, and are not appropriate topics of conversation for polite society.

I will try to visit in December and if it opened I PROMISE I will make special videos for you. I would love to take you around there because I studied a lot about Egyptian history and would love to share it with you :D On another note though, could you please make a dark history about circumcision for women?? it was very popular in my grand parents era , wonder what was that all about!

My parents told my grandma that they didn't want it to get done on me and that it's illegal in America and that I wouldn't be able to enter America if I had it done to make her not talk about it again. Everyone still gets it done in my family, its not stopping. I would love for Bailey to talk about it

Yes, I have thought about mummies. I learned about mummified bodies when I studied forensic anthropology 😂 Thry also don’t scare me, because if they were alive and ran after you it would be so easy to just pull off their limbs 😂 same with a skeleton, what are they gonna do? Their bones aren’t even stuck to each other 😂 mummification CAN happen on it’s own too, in the right condition

People do this today with their placentas. They dehydrate them and crush them up and capsule them to ingest. Though it was proven to have no nutritional benefits, people still do it anyways 🤷🏻‍♀️ kinda weird but to each their own I guess 😅

This video reminded me of when we mummified raw whole chickens in the sixth grade in science class for Halloween I think (or I hope) 🫠🫠 looking back on it that was a weird thing to do, but i remember being super excited, we had groups and we used salt to “preserve” the chickens and I think some type of cloth to wrap them.

This was one of my absolute favorite dark history’s. This was something that I also had never heard of before. Super gross, but also super cool. I always wondered why there were such gaps in ancient Egyptian history, and how it could be we knew who some pharroh’s were, but not all of them. So thanks for this one it was great ☺️❤
