I could be wrong but I heard that deedee would just manipulate and lie to the doctors so they didn’t know Gypsy was ok. And when a doctor would get suspicious they would move cities.

*screams * yes but no one should be able to walk into a doctors office and say “I have ____” or “my child has ____.” Without a form of some sort and proving they do have that Illness. It is a big red flag to change doctors numerous times so much which is likely why they also moved when they did so. I know the mom must’ve manipulated one doctor in the beginning into possibly diagnosing (it can take like 5 years to diagnose MS - another red flag!) So I do think that many doctors failed Gypsy by just believing the mother rather than reviewing the diagnoses. One doctor did type up a formal letter stating that he believed that The mother had Munchhausen by proxy but according to everything I read, he never actually sent it to authorities.. just put it in her file. Her “lost” file. It is sad.

@@mb22256 for anyone experiencing this that reads this comment, here’s some advice. If a doctor doesn’t believe you or refuses to test you for a condition, say something along the lines of “can you make note on my file of my symptoms and note that I was denied treatment?” That way you have record of that or it will push the doctor to test you. You can use that record at a new doctor or repeat the cycle until your doctor has no choice but to listen to you. It may take some time but it can work!

I agree with you. This is a woman who systematically tried to poison her stepmother. There would have been nothing stopping her from doing the same thing to Gypsy. She would have lapped up the attention of Gypsy getting sicker and sicker and milked all the attention and sympathy when Gypsy eventually succumbed to her "illnesses". The only sick person here was DeeDee.

@@MsMaryPatricia Don't forget that DeeDee's family suspected that she may have caused her mother's death. I agree she would've eventually killed her child. And the cops... the ONE time the cops believe a story about someone avoiding an abuser, it's the ABUSER PRETENDING TO BE A VICTIM that they believe and not an actual victim. I think so, too, especially those who told the one to keep his suspicions to himself. They should get jail-time! For the rest - medicine is insanely difficult. It's often hard to find, what a person does have, so it might hard to find the unexpected nothing. All the symptoms are there (or being described) I bet some of the doctors when they did not find anything were afraid that they had just blundered with their tests, bc they were tired, overworked, etc.
