Turning organic frozen strawberries from our summer garden into an easy-to-make strawberry jam in December! Then we're water bath canning the strawberry jam to store in our pantry. The strawberry jam recipe is from the Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving on page 10.

I've froze all of my strawberries this yr! I have almost 4 gallon bags so far! I can't wait to make jam again! So good!

I have sooo many strawberries I’m also doing this because they just keep growing ❤ any tips on making strawberries sweeter some are sour I don’t mind just was wondering if my soil is lacking on something 😅 but the ants love them

May I ask why you boil them sealed at the end? What is the reason for this? (Obviously I have no knowledge of preserves)

Boiling the jars at the end not only creates an airtight seal with the lids, but having the jars sit or process in the boiling water for whatever the set amount of time is will kill anything(bacteria) that would cause the food to go bad. Processing times depends on the type of food in the jars, and water bath canning is really only meant for acidic foods, anything else would require a pressure canner. Thanks for watching Rachael!!! 🤗

Turn the jar upside down after putting HOT jam in and it will seal on its own within an hour or 2. No need to boil jar after skipping multiple steps.....same results

Sounds messy to turn the jar upside down after filling it with hot jam and no lid. 😆 Jk. I prefer to take zero risks when canning and find it’s pretty easy after all that work, just to process them in the canner. That’s definitely interesting how you do it though! 🙂

I thought boiling the jar is what kills the harmful bacteria that could kkill you.. I feel like skipping the boiling step sound dangerous.

I think 12 half pint and 1 pint. It’s a lot of jam. 😆 But it’s sooooo good! ❤️🍓

The Bourne Homestead ....I still have some raspberries in my freezer I'm going to make into jam but I don't even think I will get half a pint😂🤣😂🤣. It will still make me happy...🤞😘😋😋
