In this video I explain how to repair the Cannon Downrigger Swivel Base. This is easy to do.

Cannon Downrigger Part 2287002 - SPRING - RELEASE PIN
Cannon Downrigger Part 2277001 - NUT - RETAINER RELEASE
Cannon Downrigger Part 2249001 - KNOB - RELEASE PIN
There are other parts as well, but these are the ones most folks will need to repair the swivel base.

I noticed the bolt used to attach the downrigger to the base is missing. There was a little ring pressed onto the bolt's shaft that kept the bolt attached to the base. Mine is just about to fall off the bolt. Do you have a "fix" for that issue, other than buying another bolt for a backup for when I eventually lose the bolt?

Thanks for the comment. That has happened to me too. Unfortunately, there is not a fix for that issue. It is pressed on at the factory. I don't worry about anymore. I just put the bolt back into the downrigger when I remove it.
