Really love these C70 videos. I also own one and it’s great that you’re building content around it. Not enough that goes into more detail on how to fully utilize it. Would love to see a video on your most recommended handheld rig set up for this camera and how to build one? This is my first cinema camera, I’m sure like a lot people who purchased this, so would be great to learn how for my first time.

Excellent content. Very helpful video. Gotta try false color. On the “extended” ND - I’ve read that “image quality may suffer” when you extend the ND range because it’s apparently stacking multiple filters - so multiple pieces of glass in front of the sensor. I haven’t needed to use extended range, but wanted to pass along what I’ve read in multiple sources.

Hi, I'm late to the party - as usual! I think I've seen some suggestions that using the expanded ND range can result in some minor colour shift, buy don't take my word for it, I may be wrong. I believe it happens because an extra layer of ND is introduced behind the main ND wheel. It's a big bonus though having the capability - shallow d.of f. regardless of the ambient lighting - it's a small price to pay even if I am right in my recollection. BobUK.

Just in case no one has mentioned -- manual says focus might shift if you use extended ND, and that, depending on the lens, you might not be able to do infinity focus. About the issues with EF glass you mention, have you had any issues with Canon EF glass? If so, which ones? Or is it only Tamron, Sigma, etc?

The reason the NDs are “expanded” is cause there are 3 different physical NDs. When it expands it adds one of the previous ones from 1 to 2 to make 8 and 10. You can’t add all three together cause that would start messing with the rear focus.

yea I realized real quick switching back and forth on the formats from regular to the S&Q 120 fps was what was causing the buffering issues with my lexars v90s... dont really have that issues with my Sony tough v60s tho so that's nice... it has happened like once or twice button sure if that was fluke or not.. Hey Eric. Have you found a cage solution you're using / liking yet or just shooting with the C70 with minimal add-on gear? I personally just started looking and am considering perhaps some elements from Kondor Blue's cage / rigging options for the C70 and then others from Zacuto. Smallrig's always an option too and I've liked a lot of Movcam and Tilta gear in the past but they take forever to ship / arrive etc. Personally I'd almost grab a few of the Kondor Blue cage elements but with a Zacuto Tactical Handle for the extra flexibility / rotation and the Nato rail it has. The only thing I find missing on the Kondor Blue system is more flexible top handle option and a Nato rail running somewhere down the input / output side of the camera for running a monitor or handle off (of course there'll be plenty of add-on solutions to get to that happening I'm sure). I'm also pretty mindful that whatever I buy I need to ensure it's still a reasonably quick transfer to the RS2 gimbal I have. When shooting off sticks / monopod or hand held I generally tend to mount to my former cameras with a 502 Small HD monitor on Nato rail based rotatable arm, scratch audio mic and lapel kit receiver. What's your take on it all RE: adding a cage / building up the C70 when it's needed? Cheers mate for the entertaining / informative content ;-)

You're the first one who actually mentioned using the C70 with the Tampon 24-70. I wonder do you have the same problem as I do with chromatic aberration? I can see it like crazy on the footage when filming with 24mm and there seems to be no way to correct the aberration in camera. Important to mention that chromatic aberration had never been an issue with any other canon mirrorless camera...

I'm a little worried. I hear that about theSanDisk, but I haven't had a problem with those cards. I own about six of them so I hope they continue to work. I get the warning that they aren't compatible with whatever setting the camera is in, but I was still able to recored in the highest 4K settings and even with 120fps. Maybe I need to do more testing and longer takes. The only time I've used it on a paid job so far I ran the camera for an hour straight in XF-AVC 4K Long GOP at 30fps with no problem, but I guess that's no surprise because of the 160Mbps of that codec.

So, find a solution from the most unexpected place. I use a canon r with the same tamron lens, and that glitch is killing me. Literally, the single most annoying thing, I had to rewrite the script of stories because of that glitch happened, had to reshoot because of one frame had it, and all sequence was unusable. I have to upgrade but I will do it in steps, didn't know if it is because the lens or the body, and this just gave me the answer. So, I will go with a rf 24-105 before switching to r6mark2. Thank you, this was a really big issue
@puddytat62
@puddytat62 3 жыл бұрын
Mhhhhmmm Couple things here Eric. There is a record function on the screen dead center top if you enable it. That should cover you on that side of the camera . Just a light touch and you can start stop pretty easy. I have several Tamrons and found none of them have an issue with VC being on and affecting e stabilization. Might be a firmware on your lens seeing as you are sporting the older Tamron 24-70. I have a couple of those and have had to get firmware installed previously for other cameras. Worth a shot. As for the Kingston card. That one is a bit surprising since I have used those almost exclusively for several months. It is a V90 card so it is rated to deliver a MINIMUM of 90 MB/s or 720 mb/s so that camera will not see that kind of data rate requirement. I have shot pretty lengthy shots using Slow and Fast including 120 FPS. Never an issue so far. Kingston make some pretty killer SSDs. If you know the whole Ninja V world you'll see that Atomos has a list of rated SSDs and the only one that can deliver the highest demand data rate is the Kingston DC500M in any size of drive. So I kind of find it a bit difficult to Kingston cannot make a decent V90 card. It works for me. The camera is tremendous ... It really is pretty difficult to make the images look bad out of that camera Have fun.
