I am from Uganda and we surely have most of the lighting and gripping gear here. From HMIs 18k , 12ks, 4ks definitely loads of C-stands, butterfly kits, Arri Alexa mini, REDs, different lense options too Zeiss, DZO primes, Cooke primes, the common samyangs, laowa...sad but you probably needed the right fixer! Cheers!

Thank you for all of this real world knowledge and advise. Absolute best content. This channel is going to be huge! As the DP, do you typically have any say in how the audio is captured on a shoot like this or do you typically work with a sound director that makes all of those decisions?

Hey Griffin, another excellent video - I must say this was the most entertaining so far. I was wondering, do you route your cameras to the Sumo via HDMI or wireless, and if you do both do you have any latency issues? Thanks again
@GriffinConway

Thanks Alvin! Glad you liked this one! We used the Teradek bolt xt wireless on two cameras and it is almost 0 latency. For the, other cameras, we used sdi cables in to the sumo.

Amazing BTS man, love your work. I always learn a ton. How do you get all those previews into one monitor from the cameras? Just a bunch of Teradeks? I hear of people using a Decimator for doing that too.

Lovin these videos Griffin, always take away a load of new ideas. Just wondering, how did you rig that teradek to the C70? On a separate stand? I ended up using a load of cable ties to strap a vlok to the teradek, and the magic-armed that to the tripod so I was still vaguely mobile. Not ideal, crude, but it worked. Anyway, looking forward to a future episode where you talk about nailing exposure in c-log2 :)
@GriffinConway
@GriffinConway 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Hugh! So I used a magic arm with a clamp on one end to clamp to the pan/tilt arm on the tripod. I have a cage coming for the c70 soon and that will help solve rigging issues. Also, I am still planning a video on proper clog 2 exposure soon!
@JaimeAndresMedia
@JaimeAndresMedia 3 жыл бұрын
Love this content, I’m pushing my c70 to its limits, specially in low light, I’d love for you to do a video on what is the best picture profile and settings for the c70 in low light
@GriffinConway
@GriffinConway 3 жыл бұрын
I always shoot clog2. Do you use the speedbooster? It will give you one extra stop of light. Also, I would suggest using lenses with wide apertures and try to keep iso at 3200 or below. If you are shooting higher than that, I would suggest bringing lights, as it will help the look of your shot anyway.
@JaimeAndresMedia
@JaimeAndresMedia 3 жыл бұрын
@@GriffinConway thank you for taking the time to respond! I also use clog2 most of the time, but I’ve been experimenting with HLG and getting surprisingly good results in low light. I do events where light changes constantly and I don’t have the time to tweak settings or I’ll miss the moment, so HLG with auto ISO is very effective, or at least seems that way. I haven’t seen anyone talk about using HLG in a c70. I’d be cool to see that on KZfaq
@GriffinConway

Love your vids man. I got a couple Core SWX Nanos for my C70 and it was very helpful over the stock battery. One other thing I did was purchase the CAMVATE Male DTap to 4port female hub so I can power my follow focus, atomos ninja and wireless video from the battery. It works like a charm, I did cut and shorten the cable so it is out of the way, and added velcro to the hub and on the left side of the batteries where it protrudes out of the C70. Great little setup!

Hey Griffin great BTS! I missed the Virtual Canon Burbank event today, so I’ll post my question here… How often do you shoot your interviews in RAW on the C500? And when you do, do you still use the C70 for b-roll? Also is that a Atomos Sumo? If so, how do you like it?
@GriffinConway
@GriffinConway 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott! No worries at all! I rarely shoot interviews in raw because of the file size. I like the XFAVC because it’s still 10 bit 422 and works great. When I do shoot raw, I still don’t mind pairing the r c70 with the c500 mark ii. I did it on a recent fitness commercial that I posted about. The sumo 19 is great. I have the sumo 19 monitor version but wish I had the one with the recording capability built in. Really nice option for a client multi viewer. Not the greatest overall panel for sharpness but definitely good enough for a director / client monitor.

I:m not sure suggesting you take on jobs you're not sure you're qualified for is very good advice. Blowing a job can have adverse consequences.

That’s totally fair. I also mentioned that prior to the job learn everything you can about it. I’m just sharing my own personal journey, and while I agree it can occasionally not work out, my experience has been that the real thing holding me back was saying no too much and not pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I respect your opinion though and appreciate you watching the video 🙏

Awesome video, as always! What V-mount attachment & V-mount battery are you using? I tried figuring it out so I wouldn't have to ask but no luck haha

All good! Happy to answer any questions. This one was the wooden camera setup. I like the form factor but I don’t like that it attaches the top handle, monitor, top plate, and v mount all to a single 1/4” screw in the top of the camera. I pre ordered 3 of the bright tangerine kits for the c70’s in my production and have a review coming on the channel as well.

Been looking at the bright tangerine setup as well. Can’t wait for that video! Thanks for the tips
