The timing for all of this is may seem too perfect & it’s going to be frustrating ,but you are right about having to move forward. There are points where your own team and the opponents teams are at fault & people find excuses to justify wins and losses, just part of what makes sports entertaining to talk about even after so many years.
@inconnu496111 ай бұрын
That was the High point of Vancouver sports! They even rioted over it! Thats how much it means to them! instead of rioting over how inept their own organization has been, its easier to blame some one else, and the Bruins are the Donald Trump of the NHL. Everyone like to dunk on them and they dont know why!

I’m a Canucks fan, and I honestly just didn’t fully care about 2011. It mostly just tells me to not be in my hometown when they make it there again. I used to be aggressively mad when the Canucks would lose, but now honestly I am no longer like that anymore, and I think it is because in 2015, I started watching more than just Vancouver more consistently

Between Alex Burrows biting Bergeron's finger who was the most respected and honest player in the league, then Maxim Lapierre taunting Bergeron the very next game by sticking his fingers in his mouth, then the next game knocking out Horton for the rest of the playoffs with an absolute late brutal hit, and Luongo talking shit between games about no one pumping his tires...I'd have to say the Canucks poked the bear and it became all Big Bad Bruins hockey from that point on. There was a lot of shenanigans from Marchand, but you have to remember, he was still fairly unknown at that point...he wasn't constantly on the ref's radar. The season before he was just a 4th liner clawing his way just to stay in the league. 2011 was his "breakout" season even though he only scored maybe 20 goals and 40 pts...it was this series that cemented his status as the rat The Horton hit was the last straw for sure though, that's where the series notably shifted, I'd say the B's were playing pretty subdued up until that point. In other words, the Canucks F-ed around and found out.
@blite1311 ай бұрын
All season long, the refs were calling penalties for the slightest infractions and they carried it through the playoffs. But once the Canucks went up 2-0 in games, something happened and all of a sudden the Bruins were getting away with everything and the Canucks were getting called for every little thing a ref could make up. It was so obviously one sided. And then you had the Canadian media rooting for the Bruins.....the whole thing was obvious and disgusting. One more thing....see Marchant punching Sedin in the face? Guess who got the game misconduct? It wasn't Brad......

Adam McQuiad, the defensmen, yes, a notable 4th liner. Jokes aside, the Canucks played terribly in that final and deserved to lose, every game the Bruins won was an absolute blowout and sheer domination, every game the Canucks won was a grindy, close game which could go either way. Luongo had 2 shutouts in the finals, in other words, if Luongo didn't shutout Boston, Vancouver had a 66% chance of losing.

The other interesting thing that you don't mention is the intriguing strapping system on Tim Thomas's pads which were later discovered to be counterfeit pads. The NHL's goalie equipment inspector for the playoffs at the time was Kay Whitmore and unlike Campbell who allowed himself to remain on and influence things potentially when they involved his son, Kay recused himself from the goalie equipment inspector position for the finals because he had previously been the backup goaltender to Kirk McLean for the Canucks during the 1994 playoffs so his connection to Vancouver made it a conflict of interest for him to be inspecting the goalie equipment of both Roberto Luongo and Tim Thomas
