Cape Cod Railfan Day 2023 - Mass Coastal/Cape Cod Central Railroad - 8/19/2023

On 8/19/2023 the Mass Coastal and Cape Cod Central Railroads hosted Railfan Day 2023 at their yard in Hyannis, MA. This is the second annual railfan day and this year included some more equipment. Namely these were MBTA GP40MC-3 1138, MC 2014, MC's new caboose, CCC coach "Sagamore" as well as a few other pieces of equipment moved closer to the engine house for viewing. A more elaborate display of MOW equipment was also present this year. Most importantly though was freshly painted MC FL9 2011. Repainted in the New Haven McGinnis scheme the locomotive was outside the Hyannis engine house for viewing. This video includes the display equipment at Hyannis as well as train operations of the excursion and CapeFlyer that ran before and after the event.

The Railfan day is something I am so glad they started doing. Its one thing to watch the engines from the line side but a whole other thing to be able to stand right next to these massive machines. Its also was nice talking to the owners of those private cabooses, especially the Fore River owner is a real nice fella to have a convo with.
