I run all this and the trails around Jacks directly from my house, I count myself very lucky to have access to all this. I ran it Christmas day and there are sections with hundreds and hundreds of fallen trees from the recent windstorms.

Great video. And a big thank you for not constantly talking. It's good to see a video without the constant "Whoa", "Sick", "Chunky", "Woot" that so many feel necessary to add. Good to just hear the tires and natural sounds!!

That tunnel was called the Ghost tunnel back when we were teens. We used to get glow in the dark frisbees in there at night. Memories of fun up there on Gold Camp.

Enjoyed! Well ridden, well done Clint. When I can place myself on the saddle and feel the flow, then a sudden side slip, and a little pull of rear brake to center up, 👌. Thank you.

Next go all the way up to New Jones Park, 2 hrs or so of climbing and a ripping 30 min decent on trail like that. I like more chunk but this is a fun change up too. Front Range is always loose, best after a nice rain.

Love the downhill run. Also good that you do minimal talking so that we can hear the wind, sound of tires crunching gravel and even the brake squeal. All adds to the POV realism. 👍🚵🚵

I camped down in the springs this past summer at Cheyenne Mountain St Park. Decent trails there and my assessment of the trails were definitely loose!

I've lived in Colorado Springs for 2 1/2 years and have only done that once! I borrowed a mountain bike the first week I moved here when I hadn't adjusted to the altitude yet and it was miserable trying to ride up the mountain but the ride down was still a blast even though I thought I was going to die since I hadn't been on a bike in 15 years prior to that and the trails had snow and Ice everywhere

I was out there few months ago. It really is a fun trail. Add this w/ Chutes and you got yourself a party on the trail! :)

Nice, I guess it was time for a few days out of Florida and maybe even see some snow? That rock tunnel scenery must have been beautiful in real life, i can only imagine the work it took for people to build that especially if done many years ago with limited tools.

I think you actually rode up Buckhorn to the saddle between upper and lower Buckhorn. Captain Jack's proper begins after your first loose downhill and after you cross High Drive (the dirt road that runs North/South). This is a local favorite, glad you enjoyed it! That gravel is decomposed Pikes Peak granite, and is super common in our area. It's best to ride in the first day after a big storm. We call it Hero Dirt!

Rad vid Clint. Great scenery. You can hear how loose that surface was. Certainly makes for some arse puckering moments. At ~7:20, sounds like you had the rear locked going in and out of that big washout?? Great riding!!

Wonderful trail! I imagine that the looseness came from the motorcycles. Is it a one-way trail?
@ClintGibbs

Yes, from the motorcycles. Actually I think it is a two-way trail.

I ride Cheyenne Canyon regularly. Decomposing Pikes Peak granite is most definitely some very slippery stuff, motorcycles or not. Not so slippery when it is wet.

It's also shared with walkers, but not me anymore. How did you insure you didn't run into any hikers? I think dirt bikes and motorcycles should have their own dedicated trails with maintenance paid for by the users. Bikes and motorcycles are extremely destructive to the trails. That being said, nice video. Looks like no hikers were killed or injured during the making of it. Helmet side up, rubber side down.

Captain Jacks trail wouldn't exist without the dirt bikers. They are the ones that developed and maintained this trail for decades. Of course, all safety precautions should be followed to insure every trail user a safe experience. It is a mulit-use trail, however there are hundreds of trails in the area that are a better hiking experience than Jacks that you can enjoy where dirtbikes aren't allowed. Jacks is the only trail in the area dirtbikes can use to access the higher country from relatively close to town. Respect from and for all responsible trail users keeps conflict to a minimum and ensures continued access for all.
