How do you the initial setup when you open TONEX? I’m getting sound on step 1, no sound on step 2, sound using the track but not live on step 3, and the capture does nothing when I hit start. Everything is set the way you showed it on the helix. I’m using an older mac, I’m totally stumped and about ready to pull my hair out

The problem is almost always the audio interface. Not sure which one you are using but I had challenges with the routing software on my interface. Once I figured that out it all worked great....

Oh sorry. I responded not realizing g this was the Helix video. Other than the Tonex capture box I’m going straight into the Helix. All the steps in my video I follow to a T.

I've been giving thought to trying NAM...perhaps sometime in the not too distant future. Sadly, I don't use Cubase. I'm a Logic guy but I could keep it general....

L6 really should add amp capturing to helix and a software that you pair with the helix to capture. Other than more dsp I don’t think the helix needs much added to it. I’d definitely buy one again if there was capturing.

Tonex is great for using captures done already, there's few 'at home guys' who will capture much better than what's available from Pros.

You do need to be selective from what’s out there. But it’s fun to do it yourself.

Sort of. If you are capturing just an amp or pedal direct with no cab, as long as you have a good interface(helix is as good as any for this purpose) there is nothing a "pro" can do better. If you are micing a cab then yes absolutely. The main problem with the available captures is that MANY of them are not actual amp captures. People keep capturing axe fx, kemper, qc, etc models and passing them off as the real amp...even some of the people charging $.

At 3:37 you said, set the out switch to line out - I think that's wrong, because when an amp is connected it has to be set to AMP Out. The switch has to be set to line out, only if a line out signal comes from the amp - just saying...

I tested this. The amp is running through the load box and the Helix. On the Power Out setting I had no level. I triple checked this before I did the video.
