Full build and review of the 1/35 scale Rye Field Models Sturmtiger kit. This is the partial interior kit, featuring detail within the fighting compartment, including shells and shell storage areas, but no engine or transmission. A full interior version of this kit is also available. You can find the kit here: amzn.to/370Fk7H
The Sturmtiger, also know as the Sturmmörserwagen, was a German assault gun built on the Tiger I chassis. It fired a 380mm rocket-propelled mortar, was operated by a crew of 5, and had a crane on the rear deck for loading shells. Only 18 were built and they saw action in the Warsaw Uprising, the Battle of the Bulge, and the Battle of the Reichswald (Operation Veritable).
This model kit is painted using the standard German interior colours of Cremeweiss and primer red, with the Hinterhalt or Ambush camouflage scheme being used on the exterior. This particlar variant is painted using the MAN / MNH version of the scheme.

Very well done. It's a shame a lot of detailing we all do ends up being hidden. The last Tamiya Bf-109 I did had multiple parts held on with very small magnets. You could display with the cowlings open and later, when you got tired of that look; put the alternate parts on for cowl closed. I HAVE thought about putting a small fiber optic camera in a tank interior. But, that might be going a little overboard. ;-) Nevertheless, I like your work and very calm demeanor when you explain things. See you next video.

A great model and a subject I have always liked. About a year ago I made the RFM Jagdpanther with the full interior. It is a mega build with, as you say, a lot of small parts and what would have been hidden detail. In the end I decided to section the hull with my dremel and made the model look like a museum exhibit. I cut away almost all of one side of the upper hull, lots of the roof and much of the front around the detail parts. I don't think the clear roof is adequate to show off the interior.
@ModelNerd
@ModelNerd 3 жыл бұрын
Very cool! Sounds like a great project. I agree about the clear parts. The RFM Panther I have includes cutaway hull sections like you describe (plus normal parts too), which is really handy.

Bloody awsome! A tip if you want to create some heavier mud, is to mix desired paint with some plaster and add that behind the roadwheels. You can can blend it by adding washes and speckling mud tones on to it! As the heavy weight of the vehicle would most likely tear up the soil

I have there other one with full interior but for all you see even with the hatches open your better off with this one really! This one is perfect for a diorama with just the casemate hatches open seeing the breach and winch with the big ass mortar!

Yeah, I agree. I did the full interior Tiger B in a previous video - I still need to put that in a diorama with the crane lifting off the turret so you can see inside. The RFM Panther I have is the version with the cutaway hull parts (normal hull parts also included) so I may well build it like that.

I built this kit and it made me so frustrated, so many parts didn’t fit like they should, tracks were p annoying but not as bad as most of the kit

It's certainly not perfect - the shell racks and the engine deck were the main issues for me.

You can leave that door open but I decided to leave it closed (to hide the inexplicable PE rifling) That put me right off this kit tbh.

I thought the rifling was an interesting idea, poorly executed.
