It's so cool seeing others with the same car as me and what they do for their camper mods. I have been using sheets and tucking them into the trim or closing the window on them to hold them up. It works alright but your way is awesome. IDK why I never thought to do what you do! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the tutorial. I’ve watched many videos on how to make window covers. Your video was by far the simplest and clearest. 🤝

This was so helpful, I was looking at getting fitted blackout for my specific model of car, they want between 150-200 dollars. I knew I didn't have to spend it but want the reflective material to keep heat in the vehicle, this works out perfectly!

I just stumbled upon your channel and I’m so glad I did! I definitely needed this video for the upcoming summer; I started taking my suv camping instead of a tent lol. I loved the video and your vibes!🌻❤️

well I'll be darned.. I have been watching these types of videos for years, have made my own reflectix window coverings over a year ago, without the black out side... you have the best and easiest demo I have EVER SEEN.... now I am thrilled to finish them since you've shown how easy it is... thank you and on another note I enjoy your vids as you have what seems to be such a sweet personality and zest for life.. keep on keeping on and good luck to you in the future, wherever it leads you I think you will be just fine....

Nice. Thanks for the tutorial. I’m thinking about making a stealth cover for the windows that is sheer so air can pass through. Not the entire window but maybe an inch or so.

Any tips on how to cover up the back window?
@LowTGaming7 ай бұрын
another thing i highly recommend is plaskolite, any rigid thin plastic works i have like very slanted back quarter panel windows in my 4th gen 4runner and absolutely struggled getting the window shades to stay until i used that as a extra support for them.
@rwind6568 күн бұрын
@LowTGaming -- regarding interior window shades for a van camper... How did you attach the plaskolite to the back quarter panels of your 4runner, please? (And by "window shades," do you mean the reflectix with black fabric covers like shown in this video? Or a real window shade, please? I see everyone tries to attach the window coverings to the headliner and pillars of the car -- I'm wondering why no one is attaching coverings via velcro dots or somesuch to the actual inside of the window glass? ) Thanks for taking the trouble to reply - it's been 7 months since you commented on this video.

Can I use black posterboard on the back side of the Reflectix? Or is there a particular advantage to using fabric? Thank you, love your videos!
@samanthapenaluna-litjens477 Жыл бұрын
I know this comment is old, but if your car gets any condensation overnight, posterboard would probably get damaged by it, fabric would just dry out and look the same again.

Hi, Emily. Thank you for this video, as it is really helpful. I've seen other videos, but they seem to be more complicated. My question is, when you want the actual reflectix side facing out (if you're in the desert), do you just switch the covers to the opposite side of the vehicle? Thanks in advance ☺️
@emilysedona10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, I just swap the passenger side covers with the drivers side 😊 everything should line up perfectly that way!

Could I also paint the outer side black with acrylic paint instead of fabric? Or is there a downside to that?

I feel like because they move around so much. I throw mine everywhere. But anyway paint chips off
@theneverendinghighway2 жыл бұрын
I did this the first time i used reflectix and I had paint chips stuck all over my windows. I personally would not recommend it.

I wonder whether you could use black spray paint to darken one side of the reflectix? Anyone tried it?
@emilysedona Жыл бұрын
I think it would potentially flake off (resulting in a mess in the car) but I’m not 100% sure!

It's cheaper to use regular glue and spread it around with your finger or a popsicle stick.
@emilysedona2 жыл бұрын
I found that regular elmers glue was not strong enough and later the fabric would peel off.

The black side not only makes your car stealth, in winter it will absorb heat and help keep your car warmer. I am making mine now and plan to use a poly canvas material which is uv and water resistant, and glue adheres better. But for extra insulation, I am going to use double Reflectix to increase the R value in cold weather. The black material will be glued over one side like you showed, but then that panel will be glued to another. Black tape around the edges holds the air space in both panels, increasing the R value some. If someone is in the far north extreme winter, they might consider another layer with Coroplast sandwiched between the two refelctix panels. In this case, you just need to tape the edges of that Coroplast middle layer to increase the R value. My car just can't handle that thick of a cover. There is a YT video showing how to do this.
