In today's video, we are going to discuss a common issue faced by many people all around the world, that is the apperance of Water vapours / Condensation inside car / motorcycle headlight.
It happens usually due to a leaking headlight seal(butyl rubber seal), leaky bulb connector dust cover, broken / cracked headlight body, broken / cracked headlight lens etc. There could be hundreds or even thousands of reasons for water appearing inside a headlight. The most common disadvantage is low light, corrosion inside the headlight, fungus starting to grow etc.
In this video i first tested the headlight of Suzuki Liana(YOP2012) for pressure leaks by using an old fridge compressor(which can be arranged if anyone wants one too).
While doing the pressure test, i made sure that the pressure doesn't exceeds a max pressure of 5 psi as any pressure above that could cause explosing or cracking of the outer headlight housing which would become an expensive and time consuming thing.
After finding out the spot of leakage i then thought of a way to permanently fix the issue. The main thinking was regarding what kind of adhesive should be used for the required purpose, at last super glue(Elfy glue) was selected based on the curing time and availability. The best was to open the headlight by seperating the back casing and the lens(Front cover) and then to apply more butyl glue on the leaky area. But that would have caused mess and was not possible at that time. After applying the Super glue, i waited for almost more than half an hour for the super glue to cure properly before any sort of testing for leakage and fitting it back into the vehicle.
When the headlight was testing for both vaccuum and pressure, it showed that complete vaccuum was being made however i didnt let it reach a vaccuum pressure of -5psi aa anything less than this definitely would have caused the headlights casing to collapse and cause severe damage to the internal structure of the headlight. After i also tested it using Soapy Water for any visible or possible bubbling which may indicate a leak, and Voila! the leak have been fixed.
