You could still see the darker primer spots?

Very good educational video! I always wondered how to deal with the edges of the new coats. It nailed!
@JeffLifeInReview3 жыл бұрын
I think the technique and process he showed are spot on. I do think addition red paint in the area was needed and that is likely because the reducer/blender may have thinned out the color a little too much. But great video otherwise on a subject nobody tries to tackle. Most painters are like paint the whole thing blah blah blah because their afraid. Trial and error is how people learn

Thanks for the heads-up on the Preval sprayer.And to think that I was going to do a whole car with this thing (one fender at a time) lol!

Thanks for this valuable information! Got a small spot on my car, that I was going to use touch up paint on, but I figure I might as well go ahead and do it right.

Yes, I did do this in one day. There are different types of clear coats. Most brands have a speed clear, which dries extremely fast. There are some clears available that are ready to sand and buff in 20 to 30 minutes. Thanks for watching and your question.

This is going to vary depending on who is doing it and where you live. Every shop has different rates. Thanks for watching.

I notice how there was no front view of the repaired area. Most likely because the paint was blatantly visible and looked terrible. A better idea for anybody looking to do it cheap would be to not even bother doing the 2 small spots, just spray the whole area with basecoat and buy a 2k lacquer can with a fan nozzle and use that. I'd rather have a possible slightly different shaded door than 2 big circles of basecoat showing through. Hopefully no money was exchanged for this job 😂

Looks like another 1-2 layers of color could have been added, as the color hadn't covered the primer yet. Other than that, looks good.

Good Work I truly enjoy your videos. Is there a way to have a sheet with all steps involved? Including all sand paper grits, cleaning agents, paint for compressor gun, clear coats, blending solvents and buffing compounds. I want to fix dings and re-paint the whole hood on my old Subaru Wrx. Again thank you for all your videos and tips

How much reducer did you have to use (%) so that Preval would begin to spray ? I plan to use the preval system to spray catalized automotive clear on some small / medium size model airplanes and so I don't need to invest in expensive equipment. Thank you for your time Charles.

Here’s some tricks for using a Preval: 1) spray alcohol through it to clear the mechanism before putting any paint in. 2) make sure your paint is thinned to a skim milk consistency. 3) strain the paint well before adding. 4) be patient, spraying with several very thin coats, keeping the sprayer moving and not too close, to avoid drips. 5) if it spatters, do not use, switch to another Preval. I hope that helps, I use Prevals all the time for different types of applications. I’ve never tried it for an automotive repair.

I was hoping that it would work so people without a spraygun could use this method...I could not get it working right. I plan to experiment with it more later to see if I can get it to work with auto paint.

all done in one day? I thought before the buff you should let the paint age/harden for a few days etc? maybe its a different paint i heard about etc

I have a question, did you sand the dent with like 80 grit, bondo, then sand flat then primer THEN sand the primer down and the whole panel with 400 grit??

This was a real world product review. Could maybe have tried spraying on paper in motion? I don't know if I care, about droplets not all landing in center mass🤔

use the chris fix method for blending.

You have to make the can warm with heat gun. And shake it really nice 2-3 minutes. No more drops.

TRhe Preval isnt bad for doing a panel, but not preceise enough for spots. Instead of a Preval, I'd use a hobby type air brush that uses compressed air cannisters.
@r7blue9 жыл бұрын
if you dont actually use the preval then the title shoudnt be car spot paint job using "Preval Paint System"...after the video was filmed you knew you didnt use it, but still titled it saying u used it...same with the plunger vid( shows a toliet plunger) but you use a professional tool instead... goodvideos though, just the titles are misleading.

why you spot clearcoat after red base? its better if you use from edge to edge and sand and polish edges, its simply, its faster

and the after was showed at a very wide angle so you cant tell how shitty it is. when he was using NO.2 you can see the OBVIOUS line where it goes from original to what he painted. Why would he not blend that wtf
@zanaga19013 жыл бұрын
Didn't like the Prevail paint system and got the You Can this week didn't like it either don't want to keep using reusable aerosol spray cans nomore better off with a paint gun or a aerosol spray can that not refillable.

I was never a fan of doing shitty jobs like this. why go 80% on something when 100% isnt much more work. besides most of the time I've seen people do this they made enough paint to do the whole pannel but only used part of it and wasted the rest so then where did they save? labor? not much. but the job looks shitty and half assed

@JuggernautUSAdotcom5 жыл бұрын
Thumbs up. He did try to use it, it just didn't look right on the test spray, so he stopped. In other words, DON'T use it. I tried on a small paint job on a back bumper on my red 2017 Honda Civic. The Preval shoots outs tiny globs of paint. I'll stick to my spray gun.
