Caracal 816 and PWS MK111 uppers

Just a little preview video of the Caracal 816 and PWS MK111 Mod2 11” uppers to test out. Will be running these two side by side to see how both fair. About 1:45 in I mention the 816 is more Mil-spec *Looking. Mil-spec looking but it has the HK style raised receiver.

Very underrated. It is actually the successor as both engineers wanted to fix the issues that the 416 had. Sadly I wished they give us the quad rail version instead of mlok. But I’m old fashioned

Rumor has it that the 816 was actually based off the Sig Sauer 516 because Sig sold them the design, which is why they discontinued making the 516. Being an owner of a Sig 516, I can’t help but notice the similarities between the two. But, that’s just what I’ve heard.

Does the 516 have the elevated rail or internal latched charging handle or OTB features?

Two engineers of the 516 made the 816. Look up small arms solutions interview of Chris Royce.

Very much looking forward to hearing more about the caracal and your comparison to the 111, I’m considering an 11.5” piston upper currently.

From what I understand...they use that internal clip with the charging handle because the charging handle channels gas to the handle and out the holes on the handle ends. You can see the holes briefly when he is trying to pull the handle out. The handle stays stationary relying on the inner clip to attach. A hinged handle could disrupt the gas exiting the holes. Personally I think I would make a change as well and toss in a Geissele SCH
